Mad Max 14min of Gameplay

Are there any indoor environments? Old cities? I want this but not sure I can take endless desert.
I expect to see small vitllage ruins, but not a big city.
But there's GasTown
latest

This game... CANNOT WAIT!! Love the explosions and combat!! More games need better hand-to-hand combat w/ executions/finishers and combos..

Everyone keeps saying Ubisoft, but in the actual gameplay I am seeing a lot more than some meaningless collectathon nonsense going on. It actually looks fun as hell to play and explore.

I mean, what would Mad Max do? Look for shit to survive and build up his ride and gear while taking out the threats in his search for peace. That is what this game is. The story looks good, the gameplay looks fun, and hell, there is even a thunderdome.

People keep saying "Ubisoft" because there is a map with icons on it and it isn't Witcher 3, the core gameplay and progression have nothing to do with Ubisoft at all (Actually, the car combat and customisation has nothing to do with any recent game).

I don't even care if this game has a lackluster open world structure (IF it does) as long as the core elements are fun and the RPG progression ties properly into it, I'll happily rinse and repeat for 30 hours (especially since it's so audiovisually pleasantà.

I gotta be honest, I was blown away by this game after expecting nothing.

It just feels great to play. The driving and attack mechanics feel excellent. I was kind of expecting typical car combat gameplay where you drive at an enemy while attacking while turning around to do it again every time you pass. Here, you use the slow motion feature (engaged while aiming a weapon) to target specific car bits or enemies. Ripping tires off of cars and sending them careening into a wall is great. Really had a lot of fun there.

I gave a bunch of thoughts on the Gamersyde Day 2 podcast we did last night, actually, if you want to listen. It has a lot of potential.

Also I played it on PS4 where it's looking great at this point.

Nice to hear more good hands-on impressions. Now, if only Microsoft would get it up for pre-order.

Nice! Just started up the podcast now to listen.

Yeah, it really looks more closer to the movie I think

I saw another preview where it was all grey so it's all based on time of die and which area of the wasteland I guess.

I guess one of my biggest concern for this game is that it will turn out to be some sort of "Ubisoft collectathon".

I couldn't stand the annoying presenter so here is a better video of the demo < OP please add this.

I like the combat and the brutality, great job WB

gonna buy with MGS V on the same day.

Great impressions, what do you think of the pop in though?

Any word on that?

The map kinda reminds me of Ubisoft games, which I personally think is a bad thing.

Running around checking off stuff done like 25 outpost finally destroyed or 30 something collected is not appealing to me.

Combat in cars looks very good, explosions look good, the physics makes for very exciting car combat too I'm sure.

But I'll personally pass because of the first point.

The one thing I found very interesting from the IGN Gamescom playthrough (5mins 24secs in) posted earlier is the developer mentioning how even though they show some obvious places you can visit via the balloon system (like the State Of Decay tower system for finding places) there's a lot of stuff they aren't showing you. They want you to explore and they mention things like underground areas, and way to hidden locations, items etc you can only find via exploring. I love the sound of that and hopefully they make exploration worth it/appealing.

To be honest I'm just gonna be happy driving about with my hunchback sidekick destroying things and using my double barrel. Avalanche just know how to make destroying shit fun.

Looks OK, the sort of game I'd grab for £15 - £20 at some point.

Visually surprised.

Gameplay surprised, looked polished.

Didn't realise it was open world.

Need to learn more about the campaign.

Why should the Xbox One Version run better ?

Also, this a stream capture.

I thought there was some talk that The Witcher 3 ran a little better on Xbox One? I suppose I'm wrong, but I'm just starting to be more mindful of multi-platform titles as I just recently picked up an Xbox One and have had a PS4 since last year. PS4 is obviously more powerful, but I'm still skeptical of devs actually utilizing it. Case in point, I decided to preorder Fallout 4 for Xbox One instead of PS4 given Bethesda's track record with PS3.

Absolutely loved the new Mad Max. Also, the Road Warrior has been my favorite movie forever, so I'm excited to see this looking pretty cool.

Such a mad max lover, going to be buying this no doubt. Get to buy it the same time as metal gear and play them both, never going to get work done.

Guys i heard "If you can see it, you can go there!" Not so sure about this anymore...

Mad Max has "infinite map". When you go outside border weather will get worse and worse until you can't go any more. But you will be able to find loot outside map border. But they think more like there is awesome boat on horizon you can go thare.

Less than four weeks to go!!! Woohoo!!! I'm one of the few who's more pumped and hyped for Mad Max than I am with MGS V but thanks to GCU, I'll give MGSV a chance despite not caring about the franchise since MGS 2.

Back to Mad Max, unless it turns into a disappointment, im fully expecting it to be my second best game of the year and at worse, third best game of the year. Looks very good and just seeing all the stuff on that map as well as having to acquire scrap for your car and just everything has me pumped.

The only negatives were the horrible pop-in but every game this generation has had it so it's not really a shock or a surprise and the fact that Max doesn't die or even appear to get injured when he's hit over and over by a car. Hopefully, that was just for the demo.

Either way, the game and the movie is going to make September 1st a MAD day!!! :)

When is the bluray out?

Can you link to the podcast? Apologies for my laziness in advance lol. Appreciate the impressions btw.

I hope so. I've got a bad feeling that they're going to turn Max into Batman, and have you fight innumerable foes as one guy (or two if you happen to be driving). That'd feel wrong.

September 1st. Same day as the game. :)

I really hope that Max doesn't turn into Batman at all. I do think that he'll get stronger as you progress through the game and that the difficulty will be based on the level you select. I just hope that if/when im getting run over by a car, that it at the very least injures me and if it's head on, it should kill me. That's really my only complaint outside of the pop in but I can deal with that.

Looks pretty fun! Super excited to play this while blasting the Fury Road Soundtrack in the background ;) Definitely picking this up the second I get through MGSV.

For now it's just an MP3 on the site but we talk about a lot of stuff on there.

So basically Arkham Knight?
Well...not really. I actually love the batmobile in Arkham Knight but Mad Max plays nothing like that.

This is more of a driving game with combat mechanics. In Batman, you always switch to tank mode while engaging enemies which removes the need for actual driving. Taking out cars and structures in Mad Max is a completely different experience.

This is one of those games that has the premise of being something very interesting but it is being released in the most awful timeline ever.

They have to compete against Phantom Pain, Until Dawn and even Destiny's Taken King expansion in only 1 month.

I'm certain Until Dawn isn't a problem for Mad Max.
