Fighting Games Weekly |8/10-16| Gods(Beard) Among Us

Zidane is probably the top NA Xrd player atm. He made a list to throw up against Dogura's, it's more in line with what most people see the game as.

That's how it feels to me. I would maybe put Sol a little higher but he's about where he should be I think.

Who's the easiest and best character? I'll need this info for when I get the game later this week lol.

Seriously though, for a Cammy/Juri player in SF4 is there anyone comparable that I could pick up in Xrd?

Have you played an ASW game before?

A lot of people ask about character selection moving into ASW games from tohers, and I honestly don't have good advice for them because you won't know what you wanna do in a new style of game until you touch it. Unless you have a real general gameplan in mind, just pick who you think is cool.

Last one I put any real time in was Accent Core. I mainly played Zappa and ABA. Really bummed that neither of them look to be making it in for the DLC :(

I put a little time in with BBCT with Tao but got bored cause no one played it locally.

How could you play her and look at the screen without vomiting constantly?

Who ever turned Charlie Nash to this half monster beast,Why didnt he/she fix his eye problem?

the man still needs glasses.

That's why he's notworksafe, duh

I don't even think he was fitted properly for the glasses he has on. They keep sliding down which is a sign that you bought the wrong arm length on the frames. Stupid cheap ass shadaloo vision care.

Charlie's canonically a hipster; he just wears them to look cool.

But I disagree that combat is very slow compared to 2D games. Every time I tried do show GvG to someone they just would see shit exploding for five minutes. It should be said that I didn't have the chance to play Extreme Vs though, so maybe that version is slower than Next Plus (though it doesn't seem to be the case from what I watch).
Might as well reply to this.

Someone who plays 2d or real fighting games or whatever can correct me I guess.

The problem is that watching the game and playing it, totally different things. It's like showing someone a DOTA match and expecting them to keep track of all the things that 10 players on the screen are doing. It's crazy. As a player on the other hand your primary concern is your own actions and reactions. EXVS is extremely generous in that sense. You have most of the time you have seconds, instead of fractions of a second like in 2d games, to think of a response or react to something.

Maybe I played the game long enough but to me it feels like the pace of the game even in the middle of an exchange between two players has enough pauses in the action that you are free to think about what you are doing. You don't have to plan your entire course of action ahead of time and you can react and change it up on the fly.

So, I'm pretty excited about Killer Instinct coming to PC, and I want to know if there's any way for me to give characters a test run before I buy them. 'Cuz it's going to be coming out at the same time as SFV, and I'm definitely buying that first and foremost.

Can we talk about real anime games and not trash named guilty gear

I often wonder how Arc allowed such a mess out of the kitchen.

I think the characters cycle in the trial version of the game, but you can't test run a character of your choice.

I mean, I bolded ABA and everything in the post

Just because its bolded doesn't mean it instantly catches your eye. A.B.A is a pretty short string of characters so its less likely to attract attention. The character that the pronoun seemed to be most likely applied to was Tao. I mean I thought the same thing as Q until I took a second look at the quoted post.

don't tell me what catches my eyes, I'm my own man dammit

Oh hey I found the ending where ABA gets Paracelsus turned into a human! I always got the bad end where he ends up possessing the severed head of Robo Ky.

Check out husbando in shackles!

Bring em back and have em fight tethered :D
I wonder if you'd still have to feed him blood to gain mobility though...

can you guys please put those old GG sprites in a spoiler or something. the sight of blood/animation makes me nauseous and a little irritated at work. please.

For me, I'd move Ky to around where Sol is at, move May a tiny tiny bit down, while moving Chipp a bit up to where Faust is at.
I feel that's a bit low for Axl too.

Aba is the best.

Oh, when I said "show" I meant "give them GvG to play" =)

I do agree that you can do stuff on the fly in it more frequently than with other games, but the overall dynamics and visual language of the game seem very confusing and fast before getting used to it in my experience. Way more than SF or KoF.

Hm, maybe it's slower for the mind and the fingers, but not for the eyes? I certainly would say that it's slower than Marvel, but I can think about a lot of other 2D games that don't seem to be faster to me.
