Fighting Games Weekly |8/10-16| Gods(Beard) Among Us

Was going to play until the servers went down, but my PS4 fan sound like they will explode if kept running, so its probably a good idea to stop playing and turn it off.

Going to bed at lvl 14 grandmaster.

So...yeah, Bison's V-Skill doesn't shut down Ryu at all. He can parry the returning projectile, and he gets way more V-meter than Bison out of the deal. When people get good, I won't be sending those back.

Thought it was multi hit so Ryu couldn't party. Good to know for next time.

I wonder what the purpose of leveling individual characters is. Create a familiar system for title/banner/icon unlocks? Story or challenge functionality?

Would be cool if reaching certain levels with each character gave you special colours or costumes. Or costume pieces :o

its hilarious that ryus dp is super cancellable. got a wakeup reversal on a dude into super for 40% health.

i didnt even think about it before, but ryu probably has the closest thing dp thats plus on block in this game if you have vtrigger active and full meter. cancel dp into super and on hit you get a combo, on block you get a guard break into a combo of your choice

That's how it works in Heroes of the Storm and ither F2P titles. It also ties level to in-game goal. Like getting level 5 with a character will get you like 500 in-game dollars or unlock a customization feature/item plus it gives people bars to fill.

Wasn't that taken out in future builds?

Yeah, Pretty sure it has been taken out in newest builds.

Ended up spending the rest of today using Nash reached grabdmaster. He is a lot of fun. Though I wish I had the chance to play Birdie or hell I might check out Cammy lol.

Beta 2 should be a ton better once they allow filtering by connection.

Watch JWong's E3 run.

Short version:
Chill in down-back most of the time.
Knee Press when it is clear.
Inferno if Knee Press hits.
Jump in HP or HK on a read.
Play batshit crazy in V-Trigger.

Play him defensively, like you are trying for a chip kill via Knee Press.

When he's in v-trigger is ex head stomp safe on block?

Chun seems like she could be a monster with a little damage buff and a few frame data changes. Worst part about her is how incosistent stuff like looping lighting legs is.

I played a ton of matches in SF5 today. Most of them were laggy as shit and people teleporting everywhere, lol. I was playing alot of non-north american people though. Had like 2 good matches.

It was still fun in a way, if frustrating. I need a arcade stick, haha.

GG Xrd character designs

All that being said, glad to have Jam back

As someone who'd like to get into GG, what should I start with? I'm aware that Xrd isn't up to date in EU which is a shame. How about XX on steam? online still active?

Hmm, do you have to party each hit or is it one continuous hold?

There tend to be two types of multi-hit parry in games, one is like 3rd Strike where you have to time the parry against each hit and in the other you time the parry for the first hit and then mash for the rest without the need for much timing.

Iirc Ryu's parry in SFV is the second type. His parry also has the advantage of not needing to guess between high and low.

Chun forgot Hazanshu so she could learn QCF + K Lightning Legs

I am so glad they did that. I can't piano the move, and I am not too consistent in getting the move whenever I want by mashing. I will never touch Honda or Decapre for that reason. Screw that nonsense.

Poking with c.mk to lightning legs like Ryu's low forward to hadokun is a game changer for me.
