Trump winning the GOP primary?

Very possible.

Trump winning against Hillary, Bernie or Joe in the general?

Highly unlikely.
See, I'm not for trump but I have to ask: does not one pay attention to why he is so popular? Does anyone pay attention to the pulse of the country and why people like him?

Honest question.

When you have Hillary saying "wipe like a cloth?" in response to her being asked if she "wiped" her server - people actually wonder and are amazed Trump, regardless of his beliefs, is popular?

Its as if the only candidate not acting like a typical politician is getting all the attention.

I'm not for the guy but its really not hard to see why people are fed up with the status quo.

Just my .02 so don't kill me, GAF.

I suspect this is a lot of people's first election since becoming old enough to vote. No reason otherwise these results should be causing some of the panicked responses in here.

I'd rather vote for Shang Tsung to be honest, at least over Trump.

Based on the fact that Hilary is hopelessly out of touch with the modern world? She is dangerous as President due to her ignorance of technology.

She was Secretary of State just a little over 2 years ago, I think she's definitely in touch with the modern world.

But what about Donald Trump's blatant ignorance of diplomacy? Or the constitution?
Or does he get a pass because he's not afraid to "speak his mind"?

Trump's getting up there with Ridley and K. Rool in terms of villains I really want to win things but I don't think actually will.

I will leave the planet should this monkey win the election.

I get that people are angry with 'the establishment', and angry people always vote for some moron who is the antithesis of that, especially in non-consequential opinion polls. But still, what is wrong with these 43%? x_x

People in Europe should watch some Trump speeches. Everybody is thinking crazy reality tv guy with bad hair, but if you sit down and listen he is an effective populist politician with excellent public speaking skills. It is not that crazy that he is doing well in the polls compared with the competition. I disagree with his politics, especially the "simple solutions" he envisions for the US with protectionism and anti-immigration policies, but to completely dismiss him or place him in the entertainment section like Huffington Post did is just silly.

We'll find out on the next episode of The Apprentice Vice President.

You know what... a reality TV show to appoint a VP is the best idea I've ever heard.

Get Netflix on that shit immediately once Trump becomes the Republican candidate.

Let me guess, you think you're somehow more in touch with the world than someone who has actually held high positions in government, traveling for political meetings with foreign leaders. As for her 'ignorance of technology', you do realize she's credited with expanding the use of social media for the State Department, right?

I'm half expecting WW3 if Trump ends up the president. He would be stupid enough to send nukes somewhere that pisses him off.

The fact that any of you seem to legit worry about that is more hilarious, and worrying, than Trump doing well in the polls.

Yeah, she ran a private email server in 1998, must be completely ignorant of technology.

How the hell did you think this one up?

I'm not surprised after seeing his performance in the past month. Like many, I completely underestimated the man. Also, many leftists are understandably more inclined to give Hillary a pass for her weaknesses than the rest of the electorate, so there's going to be a blindspot in circles like GAF.

Many liken Trump to Cain, Bachmann, and Perry but he's worlds beyond any of those three, and he's amazingly durable. I'm eager to see the response of the political class after he holds, or even builds on his lead into the winter.

Al Gore is credited with creating the Internet.

What are her actual accomplishments? John Kerry is proving to be the better Secretary of State in comparison.

This fucking country. It's like the people here really want to burn this place to the ground.

Imagine if Trump was literally president. Jesus FUCK.

I overhear people quite often saying "I want Trump to win now just to see what happens because we need to hit rock bottom first." Most of the time these are liberals, too. I really think it's a national phenomenon of "fuck you, I got mine," because if his suggested policies and beliefs were to adversely affect these individuals, I'm sure the narrative would be different.

The inevitable republican nominee did end up with a similar percentage of the popular vote as the August frontrunner. As will happen here when the field dwindles.

The bigger take home is that it seems increasingly unlikely that either Bush or Walker will ever even sniff the nomination.

Anybody who watched the debate knows that Jeb Bush is completely hopeless. Take John Kerry and saddle him with one of the most toxic political names since Nixon.

One issue with Trump being President is he will pick other Republicans for his cabinet.

I'm more afraid of other Republicans than I am of Trump.

I fail to see the relevancy of Al Gore or John Kerry to your initial statement. Though I will agree Kerry is a better Secretary of State by comparison. But he's not the one running, is he? Hillary is still more in touch with the 'modern world' than you or I. And I'm too lazy to provide you with a list of accomplishments. You could probably start here or here if you actually cared.

The take away from this isn't that Trump can win a national election, it's that his rise and change in favorability is confirmed in yet another poll. He's beginning to look like something beyond a short lived flavor of the month.

While you've gotten to one of the truths evident, I also think it's clear that Trump has made this phase of the elections process even more entertaining than normal and it's bringing in people who are otherwise ignorant to gawk and question and cheer.

As things shake out people will care less about entertainment (which Trump provides in spades) and more about political leadership (which it's clear Trump cannot provide).

Trump, like most republicans, is only popular among his own demographic of voters.

If the kind of people that would vote for Trump measured in any significant number we wouldn't have a black president let alone one that won the election as handily as he did.

Yes this GOP primary is a class 'A' freak show. Yes Hillary continues to show us that she's kinda disconnected from everyday people with the shit she says and does.

But history has proven time and again that the nut jobs from the GOP bench have gone so far off the reservation that even folks who identify as 110% republican would rather A. Stay at home or B. vote for almost ANYONE else rather than elect one of the billionaire backed, bible fellating, cracists.
