If it is any consolation, the wealthiest 10 percent of households are feeling 85-90 percent of the pain from this drop? #funwithinequality

LULZ. There is a part of me that loves watching rich people panic over this shit.

When are you planning to retire?

Not for a while yet, thankfully.

It will for everyone. And then things will get better in a few months. Don't panic.

Oh I know. I saw it do the same thing back in 2007/2008. Just sucks seeing it drop like that.

Not mine. I put everything in bonds. Lowest yield in 5 years yo.

My 401k is more of a pick a spread of options and can be changed monthly. So I couldnt do anything until September anyway right now.

Guys. I already filled my tub with water and am buying all the non perishables at wal-mart right now. Anyone know where I can get the most bottlecaps in the next week?

I went to sleep last night and set triggers that I thought wouldn't hit, and then I woke up and found they opened much lower than my triggers and so the buy orders hit at the low opening price instead. What incredible luck. I picked up 225 apple shares at $95.

This seems to be trending on Twitter under #Blackmonday and I legitimately thought it was a new sale to counter black friday. Little did I know it was about stock markets.

I know nothing about stocks, why is this a huge deal again? Is my life in danger because of this? Should I pack some clothes or prepare to lose my job? Idk

Most retirement savings are locked up in stocks. Otherwise most people wouldn't care all to much, but it can also signal a issue with the economy in general.

Some numbers already bouncing back I see.

Are homes on fire yet?
Way ahead of you.

Is this a real question? People lost money. It's not fun. It'll be fine soon.

I find the stock market hilarious. What a confusing machine of figures and psychological evocations that we value to such a degree, it can cause suffering even if nearly everything in that domain has very little, if any, objective physical reality behind it.

A testament to the absurdity of human thought, I'd say. :P

Way ahead of you.

She planned this years ago? Collusion!

Nice mate, AAPL down 30 in the last month. Very good time to invest.

Stock market collapse --> Panic --> Investors jumping off of buildings --> Fear, more panic --> Joe Schmo buying up ammunition --> THIS IS CHINA's FAULT --> Naked aggression --> War with China declared --> Russia sides with China --> 1 million + dead in fighting --> Use of nuclear weapons to end the war --> human race extinct except those who found refuge underground.

All this is nothing but Fallout 4 viral marketing and I'm getting sick of it.

edit: Regarding trump:

Markets are crashing - all caused by poor planning and allowing China and Asia to dictate the agenda. This could get very messy! Vote Trump.

Good job!

That's the thing, I have no clue who's losing money here. I don't know what it actually affects or how any of this works. It seems like everyone is freaking out but for what?

Nothing is really wrong, 99% of the posts in this thread are by people that 1) doing it for fun, 2) don't know what they're talking about.

You're right. At this rate it'll be a blip in the larger market. Glad my prediction ended up to be nothing more than hyperbole.

I would be it will finish down on the day.

Trump is sorta right. There is a very strong argument that this is China's doing. Especially after they propped up their stock market last round a few weeks ago.

Not sure what the US could have done differently.

They've been propping up a real estate bubble in their country for forever and ever. We knew it was going to bust out at some point.

yup, looks like the good time to buy was when it pre-opened

Volatility is high, it will bounce and plunge and rebounce: you will have more than one opportunity to buy at the price you thought you missed in the upcoming 2 weeks or months. Keep a cool head.

FWIW I don't think the Dow at 16k is under- or overpriced.
