It's kind of shame PM & AM are something retail cannot participate in. That and the IPO drought benefit the "haves" more than anything. Sure the logic is that it's for their own good, but I don't buy that idea.

Your trading platform doesn't allow pre-market and after hours trading? My discount broker doesn't allow trading as early as 6 a.m., but I can still begin trading at 8 a.m. Likewise I only get to trade until 5 p.m., not until 8, but it's still plenty of time for earnings.

No we didn't recover from 2007 2008. Look at all the people on food stamps all we did was print money. Oh and bail out the banks.

Sure, but saying the new normal is bad isn't the same thing as still being in a recession. Recession is a term with a very limited meaning.

This is why we need to each economics and finance in high school. Jeez.

Yeah, one of my regrets from HS and college is not taking economic courses. Well, we were forced to take an ECONOMY course, but its was freaking bare bones, now that I look back at it. Like GDP means ________. Seems like they don't get into the REAL way the economy works and when we exit its like we don't know how to involve ourself in investments, etc.

First of all, I'm sure you're aware that bank bail out money was returned in full and 50B profit was made on it. Secondly, a lot of measures that have been used for decades upon decades to measure economic strength did recover and are still recovering.

Got 450$ in TDAmeritrade account.

I really think we're going to crash and burn again this afternoon.
.

We're falling again here boys. I really think people will want to he as out of much as possible after the close and being exposed to the open Chinese markets. Guessing 1900 for the s&p.

Could China be in the same situation as Japan in the 90s? At least Japan is a fully developed country. I'm not so sure about China. Interesting times.

I'm done with major purchases and expenses for the next 5+ years at least. I really need to learn more about this so I can put the extra savings I have to work.

What do you think about the market tomorrow? Up or down?

I'll better be able to make a guess/decision after seeing what Chinese markets do later this evening or early morning when they open up.

After what the the U.S. market did today after making up roughly 600 points from a steep drop, I'd lean towards another one. who knows though, lol

My company stock is down 5 perce today despite all these posts on how things should go up.

Fuck what gaf says, im selling.

Then wait for it to rise and buy back in right? There is a reason most stock investors make no where near market return.

Owning your own company's stock is a terrible idea in terms of diversification though, so you probably should have sold as soon as you could have.

Guess when your most likely going to lose your job? It isn't when the stock price is doing great I can guarantee you.

I didn't know people actually thought things like this.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am super clueless about the stock market, and it's really not something I would do except I was given company stock when I joined. I've seen it drop 15+ percent in the last few months. It's time for me to bail, and possibly learn more and invest elsewhere.

Mid Day rally was the people in this thread who declared it was buying time and the people who wanted to make money of those peoples ignorance. End of year we'll be down on start of year - what happens in between is just volatility.

Yep, I set buy set triggers for Apple last night at $99 when the premarket was down only 400 and thought I'd be lucky if it hit. Instead I wake up and find my buy orders hit at the 9:30 opening bell for $95. If I had woken up earlier I could have gotten in as low as $92. Apple has already fallen 25% since the $132 highs and was oversold, so it was a no brainer. It had an RSI of 25 (meaning very oversold) on closing bell Friday so it was one of the easiest decisions I've ever come across to buy on further weakness.

So if my math is right: To make 34k just today you bought about $400,000 worth of AAPL this morning and sold later on in the day? Is that right?
