Destiny: TTK Legendary edition is now digital

You cannot keep blaming activision and go on treating bungie like they're completely innocent.

I'll be buying TTK, but Destiny is my last bungie game unless they can prove themselves otherwise.

to be fair, Destiny is probably Bungies last game as they've agreed a 10 year cycle for it

Bungee doesn't set pricing, the publisher does. Blame Activision.
Bungie agreed to become contractually obligated to deliver content releases at set intervals, and it's evident they're having major issues meeting that obligation. The pricing may be Activision Blizzard, the content is all Bungie. I think the issue is not so much the price tag, rather how much one receives for their money.

I consider $40 to be a very big deal. How can bungie give it that pricing, is TTK equal to 2/3rds of the Destiny base game? Is it equal to 2/3rds of the legendary edition? No, complete bullshit.

I've been playing the DLC for the last year. $40 is fair for the expansion and the other packages are for new players.

For me, all of the previous DLC I missed, the new Taken King content and all of the changes seems like a reasonable deal for $60 with the game I already bought packed in. As even the base game content has been revamped and I am going to be playing through it again anyway. Then when I add in all of the extra content, I hardly feel like I am getting ripped off. I mean hell, the Taken King itself has a new campaign outside of all the other extra content it brings.

I think the 40 wouldn't be such a big deal if Dark Below didn't feel so sparse and Prison wasn't so boring. But for all intents and purposes, everything about TTK sounds like they're trying to make it worth it.

because these people might ne more reluctant to jump on year 2 if they have to practically rebuy the basegame and they seem to accommodate every other demographic

they could leave out the basegame and sell you both dlc and TTK for $60, would you be more happy?

can someone explain to me what the differences are between the two versions its not clear at all.

it has some stupid dance moves, shaders and class items that are not worth a penny.

Purchased this earlier on and I the process couldn't have gone smoother. It immediately unlocked the trial into the full game and I jumped straight into Crucible. Great to be playing again. :)

It's pretty simple.

$80 was for the Digital Collectors Edition that was released shortly after announced on June 15, 2015. That makes THREE months of playtime for Base + 1st 2 expansions, with TTK preordered. You don't have the luxury of physical because it isn't released yet, so this version is that price to let you play it all in advanced (up to 3 months prior to TTK). Great deal if you want to play prior to today. (sucks if you bought it within the past few days) otherwise you probably have been playing it a good amount already.

Great deal since everything separately is 20 + 35 (season pass) + 40 TTK = 95. This is assuming you can find the 20 base deal again.

Or you could get THE $80 physical CE and wait for 3 months and get a strange coin and art goodies, and not be able to play any of it.

Or you could get the $60 physical LE with base + 3 expansions and not play any of it until Sept 15 as well.

Now that it's 3 weeks away, it's cheaper and here is your new option, digital LE to be able to play base + 2 expansions now.

Thanks for this post. This cleared my confusion.

If I buy the Legendary Edition now, can I start playing today?

I will probably double-dip on the Xbox One version if I can get a character up and running by the time TTK launches.

For Digital, yes. Any Digital Version that includes Vanilla + expansions, you can play today

You're welcome! Glad it helped someone :)

This dissapoints me. I picked up the collectors edition thinking that was one of the benefits. Didn't realize the legendary would also have that.

The thing is, Digital Collectors gave people a chance to play the base + first 2 expansions up to 3 months early! The Digital Legendary edition just came out now so you still get almost 3 weeks to enjoy it ahead of time.

If you picked up the CE within the last week (or so) then yes, that's disappointing. But if not, it's like any other game you buy - the price goes down eventually.

I randomly picked up destiny again yesterday after my Blops3 beta withdrawals.
I forgot how fun the grind was with this game. Saw this thread and realized I could get the 2 expansions I was missing immediately plus TTK next month, made my night. $20 per dlc was doable for me. Thanks for the post!

Here's a chart I made a while back. Hopefully it helps to those who are confused by it all.

Is this worth it? I'm ready to pick up the deluxe digital edition. Just wondering if it has enough content to enjoy. I'm a big fan of Bungie's Halo games.

So wait: if I digitally pre-order this right now on my PS4, I can play Destiny, House of Wolves, and the Dark Below right now? I don't have to wait until the launch of TTK?

Correct. You'll be able to play the base game + DB + HoW now and when TTK comes out you'll be able to jump right into that as well.

Deluxe meaning Collector's? The only difference between that digital versus Legendary Digital are Dance Emotes, Shaders, and Class Items that have XP boosts for Collectors, for an extra $20. So it's a matter of $60 or $80 and if those differences mentioned is worth it to you or not.

Either package is absolutely worth it. I think this is the best time to jump in the game with all the fantastic changes / overhaul it's getting within the next 3 weeks.

As far as content goes, you are getting the most content for the money.
(some argue that the dlc 1 & 2 should have been included day 1 that is a whole other thing)

The game will keep you busy for quite some time. I would recommend.

If you are on the fence you should be able to download the trial version, if you like it you can just buy the game and it unlocks everything without extra download.

Sounds like it. I sold my copy after a few months because of frustration with lack of content and horrible game design/business decisions.

Seems like they've righted the ship, for me.

I tried the trial on 360 when it first was available. Seemed OK. I guess I will pick this up and have it download over night.

How big is the download? I'm at work at the moment. Xbox one if that makes any difference.

Sony store says minimum 40gb storage space required. Not sure how large the actual download is.

I only have the standalone Destiny without any DLC.

If I pre-order the TTK Legendary edition digital copy from the PS Store, will I immediately have access to the two DLCs that come with TTK?

Also, pretty obvious but I will still need the original Destiny disc in my PS4 to play the game despite downloading the TTK Legendary Edition right?

Yes. We can play everything else now, but the Taken King content will release on September 15.

This post isn't by me, it's by a guy with the same username as me.
I'm still confused about this.

I have the base game (digital) + TDB. I want to buy the digital version if possible/same price as physical.

What are my options?

No if you buy the 60 dollar legendary edition than it will give you the digital copy and both expansions right away than taken king on september 15th.

Awesome, thanks!

I just realized the Digital copy already comes with vanilla Destiny..
That means I should uninstall my current install of Destiny that I did from the disc then purchase the Legendary Edition from the store? No longer requiring a disc to play?

This is my first time purchasing a digital game from the store....

Guys I ordered from PSN the legendary edition. Is there anyway to cancel that one and pick up the Digital CE edition instead?

Dont know how to cancel a order in PSN

Not a bad chart, but the second-to-last one (the digital CE for year 1 owners) doesn't exist. The $20 extras are going to be released as a separate add-on for the people who bought TTK digitally for $40 and want to upgrade to the CE.

Why is there no version where I can get that but no the extra dlc since i already own it. wtf?
You can, make sure you download the game and or expansions through ps4 store (if no download option is available it is already done)
Once the ps4 store logs that you have them (makes no fucking sense) you can the pre order the taken king digital version.

I had too do this, many have this problem and many do not know how to get round it.

Go to your settings on ps4, go into account settings and one of the options there tzkes you to stuff you have bought and pre ordered.
It is shit to find the item you are after you have to click on each one too see what they are.

Eh. I was slightly interested in trying out the new mechanics, but being forced to double-dip bothers me just enough to shrug the game off.

This is kinda bs. I preordered the taken king when they put it up for the $40 before any of this came to light. A few weeks ago I contacted Sony support via chat and they will not give me a refund so I can reorder the $60 version. What a rip to the original, day one players who prordered the expansion early early.

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.
$60 for the whole content so far?
I'll pick it up.

I'm guessing this is Sony's fault. That is very upsetting to hear, sorry

Yeah, I bought the base game back when it launched and bailed after beating it. But all of the extra content, plus a more balanced base game for $60 seems okay by me. I mean, we are even getting a new campaign. I have zero issues with buying the Legendary Edition.
