A model has become an Internet sensation after confessing the fashion industry considers her to be “too big” – despite the fact that she can’t be more than a UK size 6 or 8.

Agnes Hedengård, from Sweden, shared her admission via a YouTube video, saying to viewers, “According to the model industry you can’t look like this, you need to look thinner.”

The gorgeous model, who is only 19 and shouldn’t even be thinking twice about her size, says she’s been told her “butt is too big and hips are too wide.” Agnes says her measurements have put industry experts off, even though it’s clear to all that she’s incredibly slim already.

Thankfully, Agnes has a refreshingly attitude to the criticism she’s received. She makes it clear in the video that she knows she’s not “too big”, showing viewers her pert derriere and gesturing to her flat tum. She added that at 17.5 her body mass index (BMI) is lower than it should be – with the ideal BMI for an adult ranging from 18.5 to 24.9.

The videos proved what a hot topic the expectations of the modeling industry remain, with over 1,700,000 views in three days. Agnes starts the video by explaining that she’d already posted the same video in Swedish and re-filmed it in English after thousands of fans requested her to.

I'm not posting images and I'd ask people at least first watch the video before doing so themselves.

"butt is too big"

no but seriously, what the fuck? she's gorgeous and their reasons for not allowing her to model are just the definition of asinine.

Well, i would say that she is really, really thin ... too thin for my taste, but that's me.

But yeah ... suck it, fashion industry. Sometimes i wish there was a law, that would force the "designers" to be as thin as they want their models to be.
Let's see who starves first then, or breaks and calls for "normal sized" models.

Don't a lot of the models already have eating disorders? I haven't fact checked but I'm guessing.

I mean she's fine as hell so I'm glad she's in the news, but it's not a huge secret that the fashion industry like their women to look like they have active eating disorders.

Who are "they" exactly? Like she needs to be a bit more specific about who turned her down instead of just generic model industry because it seems like bullshit.

Well that's ridiculous. She'll probably get a bunch of offers now though from some companies that want positive PR

I dont see the big deal. Modeling companies want girls with skinny guy bodies. They aren't saying she needs to lose weight just that her natural Frame doesn't suit what they are looking for.

I hate the modelling industry with a passion.

Too many people with their head stuck up their ass. The fashion industry doesn't contribute anything to society and yet its a sector full of the filthy rich and for some stupid reason we put models on a pedestal as though they achieved something great....no you starved yourself and walked down a run way wearing some douches latest idea of what was currently 'in'

An ex-gf and former best friend of mine is a stylist, the longer she worked in the industry the more vapid and looks obsessed she became, she was thinner than the girl in the OP and still complained she needed to lose more because 'its what guys wanted.' Of course of her friends now most are male models dating young female models.

Yeah, It's hard to take a story like this at face value when it's just some anonymous unspecific person/agency who turned her away. Especially when a video going viral is exactly what this girls' career needs.

This girl is literally big boned. Not fat, like a lot of people mean when they say "big boned".

Her hips are "too wide" for the fashion industry just because of her bone structure, basically. There is no amount of weight she could lose to change that. (Nor should she lose weight!).

Do people really base their standards of beauty on high-fashion modelling? I guess they must, to some degree – which is really unfortunate, because I'd imagine models there are chosen mostly to be the best possible hangers for clothes, rather than because that's what anyone necessarily considers the most beautiful or healthy.

Ok, maybe she should be more specific but you cannot be fucking serious talking about "seems like bullshit." Fashion and modeling industry is well known for telling women this crap all the time. It has been in the news before many times.

There may be some niche part of the fashion industry that really does have those standards (why are you trying to contribute and participate in that at all?), but I see working models of all sizes constantly in advertisement and such. I don't believe the story.

Who are these men who like tiny girls with no meat on them? A travesty I say.

Gay men. Compare and contrast the average catwalk model with the average glamour model for reference. The one aimed at straight men will have more curves than the nordschleife.

I was actually expecting the problem they had with her was that she was too big as in too "tall", like more than 6 feet.

This is awful but completely unsurprising.

Plenty of people do unfortunately

The fashion industry would look very different if it was run by straight men lol.

This is a venomous and destructive culture, but yeah, a lot of it is because fashion designers are mostly gay men. They have no appreciation for a woman's curves.

I reject this part of mainstream culture utterly.
