Swedish model considered too big to be model...

This girl is literally big boned. Not fat, like a lot of people mean when they say "big boned".

Her hips are "too wide" for the fashion industry just because of her bone structure, basically. There is no amount of weight she could lose to change that. (Nor should she lose weight!).

Isn't the fashion industry meant to create clothing that the average person would wear?

Wouldn't the average woman fit into her kind of bodytype? She looks to be about what I'd imagine the average woman would be, at least in Sweden.

The fashion industry would look very different if it was run by straight men lol.

If only.

Not high fashion or haute couture as its called.

Do people really base their standards of beauty on high-fashion modelling? I guess they must, to some degree – which is really unfortunate, because I'd imagine models there are chosen mostly to be the best possible hangers for clothes, rather than because that's what anyone necessarily considers the most beautiful or healthy.

Seems unlikely. I sure as hell don't. The model is attractive, but too skinny for my taste.

I'm into those girls who squat, and look amazing in yoga pants/Nike Pro Combat shorts.

Ok, maybe she should be more specific but you cannot be fucking serious talking about "seems like bullshit." Fashion and modeling industry is well known for telling women this crap all the time. It has been in the news before many times.

Yeah, I can be serious because the Internet is full of manufactured drama, especially by people trying to garner hits on youtube or get followers on social media. I remember not long ago some Australian blogger even lied about having terminal cancer.

Seriously? I've seen models that are "bigger" than her. Did she get turned down by 1 agency or "all of them"? Something seems off about this story. You can't get much skinnier than she is and still look attractive.

Maybe girls should be encouged to I don't know maybe become scientists or doctors. She's part of the problem herself that she and generations of models before her created themselves. The race to the bottom. Now they can't handle it and cry unfairness. Reeks of double standards. Don't have any sympathy for them.

She is obviously not big in the usual sense of the word but I guess she doesn't fit the waif thin look that is common in that industry.

Well, i would say that she is really, really thin ... too thin for my taste, but that's me.

But yeah ... suck it, fashion industry. Sometimes i wish there was a law, that would force the "designers" to be as thin as they want their models to be.
Let's see who starves first then, or breaks and calls for "normal sized" models.
that would be hilarious :D

Who are these men who like tiny girls with no meat on them? A travesty I say.

middle aged gay men?

I don't think we're getting the whole story here. Yeah, the fashion industry has stupid standards, but I've worked on shoots for major luxury brands with models matching her proportions and curvier.

If I had to guess, she's getting turned away from agencies because her features are too commercial/glamour - blatant lip implants and other facial work just doesn't fly in fashion. A booker probably made some flippant remark about her body so she doesn't go and get more work done on her face.

Props to her though, she can probably ride this publicity wave to a few commercial gigs.

Welcome to the good life
Where we like the girls who ain't on TV
Cause they got more Ass than the models

Haha holy shit.

O..okay..?

Not high fashion or haute couture as its called.

I mean that kind of modeling is done to promote a specific material or specific, highly niche market. How many people in the world are buying couture?

I'm curious as to what kind of modeling she's doing, because if it's targeted for the average woman... she has an argument.

This won't end well

Yeah something is off here. Those lips look ridiculous.

Before anyone else comments check out her Instagram page.

Eh, was hoping for huge Snu Snu Amazon tbh.

My ability to be outraged by the fashion and beauty industry's ridiculousness has been worn down to a nub. I think the last straw for me was "age defying skin creams" being modeled by 14 year old girls.

Like, what are you people actually adding to the world?

Can't wait for 2oolander.

If only.

She's much smaller than the average let's be real.

I'm sure there are plenty of perfect beautiful women rejected every day by the 'fashion industry'. I really don't see the big deal. She didn't get the job for whatever criteria whoever was hiring had, it happens.

Fashion industry is competitive, and one of the toughest industries to work in weather its tailoring or makeup or being a photographer assistant(hurry up and wait). That said, it probably doesn't fit into the type they are looking for. She is beautiful.

In fashion its not personal, its the model not working for the type of clothing they are showing off. Model are there to model the fashion. Tailoring is a nightmare.

That said, the modelling industry might be able to leverage her looks for something different.

Is this for real

She looks a bit on the skinny side. But that's just personal preference, but the fuck? Too big?

Shouldn't some Swedish center for well being in a work place or whatever investigate something like this? I mean if they're working 14-20 year olds and (indirectly) forcing them to starve, shouldn't they be shutting it all down for health and safety reasons? I mean really?

Doesn't really seem like a health environment to be allowed to continue running.

I told my sister the same thing. She was aspiring to be a model at a size 6. I had to let her know that the modeling industry is just going to cut it. Now she's getting her degree in business but it's the harsh reality and isn't something that's going away for a long time. This is and will always be disgusting

The fashion industry, and cat walks in particular, have about as much relevency as the sort of people that stick balls of paint up their cunt and force it out onto a canvas and call it art; its a bunch of non-sense for psuedo intellectuals to gather around and sniff one anothers farts while pretending their on some other level compared to the rest of the plebs out there who just dont 'get it.'

and yet they're having fun, getting paid, and laid while you complain about it on neogaf, satisfied that you've totally undermined it by calling it "pseudo-intellectual" in a vain attempt to elevate yourself.

Not surprising.

Isn't the fashion industry meant to create clothing that the average person would wear?

No, high fashion is nothing but fashion for fashion's sake. The true l'art pour l'art of the modern world.

That's not a bad thing, but fashion is deeply in cahoots with body imagery, socioeconomical archetypes, cultures... and as such the resulting high end industry is a mirror of all those facets.

Why is it that it is only ever okay to brag about getting laid when it is being used to denigrate someone?

they do, but you will never find clothes with the same measurements as on the runway in their stores(which can be kinda annoying if you are hard core about it).

models, ads and the shows are just part of creating an image - it's marketing. it works because it's so extreme and refined and people fool themselves into believe they can be a little of that by buying their goods.

The thing people have to understand is that it's all about crafting a niche image where the end goal(for high fashion) is to sell perfume not clothes. the clothes and all that is all about building appeal and context. afaik most brands like dior ysl and so on lose money on rent and expensive clothes production, it's considered marketing.

This made me to remember a documentary I watched many years ago about the fashion world. A guy from the industry said something like "for a designer, a model never will be skinny enough".

Considering a lot of them already look like skeletons, I was like...

She is certainly not too big. However who is the source of her being too big? I don't see any sources in that article other than the girl herself. She has sure gotten a lot of youtube views though......

Sure, I think its a great notion that people who do nothing but stand around and look good for a camera or others to gawk at is a more financially rewarding occupation than many other occupations, especially the ones that rely on good will, volunteers and donations to actually survive because why would we reward them when we cna shower the beautiful people with money for just....well, existing.
