Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain | Review Thread | Words That Kill

Quick question: Are all the scenes that we've seen in all the trailers over the years in the final game, or have some been removed (especially the more controversial and "intense" things) ?

They're there :) I can't vouch for every last shot, but I've seen a lot of the trailer material in the game so far.

Where is the best place to pre-order the PC version of The Phantom Pain? Preferably one that gets the Day One Version bonuses. It's unclear on the Steam page if you can get the bonuses there and not many sites seem to have pre-orders available, nothing on Greenmangaming, for example.

Does anyone know of any stores that will sell early in Northern California? Or anywhere besides la really

Trying to play any other game while I wait for this is impossible. I just lose interest.

Seriously. I'm just sitting at my Xbox dashboard but I don't want to play anything.

Got a copy thanks to the help of other gaffers here. The difference between having this all weekend and having this on a tuesday is so crazy. Feels like I can just stop doing everything and play it all day.

why am I not surprised that a MGS game gets amazing reviews?

So, I can't really remember if I redeemed my code that came with Ground Zeroes. I don't think so, because I don't think it has been possible, but is there any way to check? Can you even register the code for PS4 yet?

I really wish they would have just given us a normal Xbox One/PS4 code to redeem in the store.

Got it last night. Wasn't exactly hard to get in my side of the world. Literally every store I saw had one.

Didn't see an update on PS4, and servers are not up yet. I do wonder if there will be a day 1 update when September 1 rolls around.

I might be mad, guys.

I just bought the PS4 Steelbook Edition (you know, the beautiful silver one) for 70€ on top of my Steam Pre Order (60€) from last week.

The case is so nice, I just need it on my shelf. ^^
And I get to play MGO in October, which is also plus I guess.

Look at me, trying to justify my purchase, lol. "Best" thing is, Amazon apparently won't ship it until the end of next week. So it's not like I'm getting it before the game unlocks on Steam. Oh well...

If by "silver" you mean the Shinkawa steel book edition, you're definitely not crazy! This is Kojima and Shinkawa's last Metal Gear Solid game, and that's his best cover art ever! A must for an collector. I pre ordered it for $82, even though I already pre ordred the collector's edition. In my opinion, the collector's edition seem naked with out the Shinkawa steel book cover!

Anyone in San Diego know of a place? Please hit me up if so. Just came down with a nasty stomach bug. Will be home the next three days.

- Fox engine means business. I'm playing on PS4 and I've done the cliche'd thing where I wiggle the stick around to see if I'm still controlling realtime graphics (during the
escape from the hospital
), because it looks that good.

.

Ha!

Like that Bioshock 1 part at the start with the plane and your in the water.

Yay.. got my copy just now. My local game store recieved the game today. EU version. The Asia version will not be ready until next week. Now, back to work T_T

hi guys:)

for all of you who have it already. Enjoy it to the fullest. I will get mine on tuesday unfortunaly but its the Collectors Edition . Can`t belive that its finally out. Kojima was really serious with this game.

Anyone knows when he started the production of the game?

Jeez ... I really want to play MGSV, but having not played any of the previous games nor having the time or inclination to...jumping in here just seems a little intimidating (from a story perspective)

I'm sure I can't be the only one feeling this way.

My god Edge Magazine's review is so well written. Pointing out that there's still Kojima ridiculousness and hypocrisy - like Ocelot berating the men on MB for fighting like they're in a Hollywood movie, then twirling his revolvers like he's Clint Eastwood.

The core story mode in TPP – you can jump in without knowing any of the previous games. It's a broadly self-contained story.

But all the cassette tapes you unlock throughout? They are loaded with info/revelations about the rest of the series. These are basically optional, just for those who know the rest of the games and want more info.

Plus, gameplay is where most of the stories happen in this game.

Get it, man.

Heh, most of the year I live in Tampa as well. (Or St. Petersburg. Either way.) Greetings, neighbor.

Besides me, it seem like there are 2/3 others looking for an early copy in Tampa too.

Us Tampa peeps have it bad, all the independent shops don't break the street date it seems :\
