I have a disc version, fully installed and updated, but zi get stuck at a black screen which reads
"Installing game data...
Do not turn off the system.
375 seconds"

What the hell is going on?

EDIT: nevermind had to reinstall while the menu was up, now it's ticking down after relaunching it. this needs to be patched asap.

Hoping for some help here, but I doubt it since it's early.

I've played 8 hours so far but have a few questions I hope someone can answer.

1) How many Main Ops are there?
2) How necessary is it to complete the Side ops? They're already getting quite dull tbh
Quite spoilerish question below
3)
How do you get this true ending I've heard of?

Phantom Limbs spoilers:
So if you're an MLG-Mountain-Dew-pizza-dodge-roll-badass can you take on the Skulls? I tried tranquilizing one of 'em in the head and it yelled at me but other than that hardly reacted. They were pretty easy to run away from on D-Horse. It was an awesome moment though.

You can also sneak your way past them, it nets you bonus points!

im pretty sure that's semi scripted. More keep teleporting in and zipping all around until you hit a certain point. It's a hell of a cool moment though. Especially after the hospital scene shows you that things are not to be taken at face value.

WHAT HUH. I tried going the other way around them and it told me I was leaving the mission and they had a pretty solid line set up there. I guess I'm just not sneaky enough. Can't wait to replay missions in this game.

Oh, you've got to be shitting me!

My PS3 turned off itself while playing PP. Suddenly, power turns off and.... well, a red slashing light and a brief yellow light. My PS3 adventures began at MGS4 launch and ended at MGSV launch it seems. At least there is some irony there. I guess fully playing MGSV anytime soon is out of the equation. Also, bye GZ save.

Not sure what to do with my PS3 now. To be honest, I thought I would be more worried but I'm actually quite cool at the moment. Still, if it really is permanently broken I hate that I lost all saves and I was planning to wrap up the PS3 gen after Yakuza 5 to dive into the PS4. If my PS3 had only died during the end credits of that one....

There is no place like home.

WHY are the Borg in this game?

Is it possible to get an S rank on the
Rescue Kaz
mission? I got an A but got hit 5 times by the
skull unit
. Nothing else. So wondering if that made me lose a rank

Awwww yeah raised Dd's bond to the max
and I got a legit ultra rare 0,6% trophy :p

It said ddog can now be customized but I dont see an option anywhere for it?

i got an A the first time too. Second time I tried I just rushed straight to the objective, got out and extracted as fast I could. I didnt get spotted either, that was an S rank

This game's gameplay is a masterpiece, it feels so good and smooth, from a gameplay stand point it's so far away from the competition, they've taken it to the next level.

Game is also stunning visually, yea there are some rough textures here and there but overall it's a brilliant technical achievement, it's a good time to play video games if a 60 fps open world can look this good.

Story wise obviously I'm a little confused, just started, didn't understand the thing with (intro spoilers)
building my avatar so they won't recognize me, and playing as BB a second after, did I miss anything? and obviously the intro was insane, but imyguessing will get some answers afterwards

Just downloaded my GZ save and now its stuck on the loading screen, showing a spinning circle without saying press x to continue, anyone else had that?

I had something similar in Ground Zeroes after I beat a mission, I think the game try to connect to the server and the server is currently under maintenance for me, at least a couple hour before.

I'm sorry, but Kiefer Sutherland isn't Snake. He's a distraction and a poor imitation.

Well, I think it was a mistake to have Hayter voice Big Boss in the first place. I love Hayter, but he's Solid Snake to me. It sounded weird having him voice BB from when I first played MGS3 on release.

Haha, the game really doesn't like my playstyle. Episode 1:
I gunned down all soldiers in the lobby and only then proceded to the exit. I was very amused when the cutscenes ignored that and just showed them alive to get burned again.

Later I accidently killed two soldiers with D-Horse because I was concentrated on riding and watching the land because I thought I could just ride comfortably between the bases (yeah, pretty dumb in hindsight) and then I one-hit killed someone by throwing
Kaz
at him. And now I am said that I can't call him into the field to use him as my ultimate weapon.

The Doc got killed before he could proceed with it.

oh and cool strategy for mission 1

Before the skulls get there when you are running out with Kaz, just call the chopper to a different location and they wont even show up.

I just remembered something I wanted to ask. I'll spoil it just in case but really only spoils the prologue :
Is it ever explained how you can have a piece of shrapnel that touches your fucking brain and still manage to get blown away, roll on the ground and all kinds of crazy shit like having delivery packages fall on your head?

I'm half expecting "nanomachines, son".

Why do people dislike this system in the game? I haven't had a chance to play my copy yet.

I was at my mother base doing target practice trial, I've unlocked 5 of them, when doing my 5th trial, I make a mistake and fall to my death. the checkpoint start at the very first trial, it didn't save any of my completed trial. I think it'll only save when you leave motherbase and enter your helicopter.

Directed by Hideo Kojima.

Starring: X

This is the stupidest shit ever and it's really fucking me off. It's ruining the experience for me because not only does it mention which boss (if any), but it also fucking tells you which mecha you'll encounter in that specific mission.

Just go under the bridge on the right before they get too close, and hide behind the horse for extra safety. I would've done it lol, but I was dumb and decided to turn around and try an' shoot 'em in the head.

Yeah I wanna know is there a way to turn this off for ps4?

So I just started the game, and bear in mind the only MGS game I have played is Ground Zeroes.

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT INTRO!

Don't get me wrong it was frickin cool, and the game is beautiful so far.. But that was some weird ass shit. Does stuff like that get explained at some point? Is it to do with something prior that I need to read up on?

Can someone tell me what the Day One edition DLC codes give you and if it's worth waiting to get them before playing? Been searching around sites but they've taken down the pre-order bonus info.

Edit: Thanks MGI.

I was only able to play the prologue and run around for a few minutes
on the horse listening to Ocelot's tapes.
.

The prologue seemed to be more dragged out then necessary. I just want to get back into it (damn you statistics class)

I just stealth rode D-Horse on the right side of the bridge and snuck past them easy-peasy.

Has anyone ever been able to connect to the Konami servers? Last night I couldn't and all day today I can't either.

It keeps saying the servers are under maintenance.

Questions regarding Quiet
So how come she is helping you, but if you play the beginning the woman who Ishmael sets on fire and kills the doctor is clearly her right? She looks just like her

Mind you im not super far into the game so no near end spoilers please haha

Looks like you can earn MB coins for being online, as well as materials and GMP. Daily bonuses are so f2p though, but at least it's an alternative to paying.

Just got my copy from Amazon while at lunch. Uploaded my GZ save and played a whole 2 minutes of the intro before forcing myself to turn it off and go back to work. I'm really dyin over here

Ty for all the infos:) very useful

The quioted person's advice is very good on the whole, except they're wrong about KO time.

The longest KO time is the five-punch combo. Knows em out for 10 mins or something. Slamming into walls is second longest. Choking or tranquilising is third longest. Shortest is just throwing guys one their back or kicking them while they're lying down.

Wall-slam and choke/tranq may be the other way around, though. Choke/tranq may be second longest and wall-slam may be third.
