That intro confused the fuck out of me. I suppose I could take it all at face value, but
Why the hell did Ishmael have Big Bosses voice, and disappear? I thought it was a fight club type thing where he doesn't exist, but he did lots of shit. It was awesome seeing Psycho Mantis again.
 
It amazing that mother Base even runs all the staff are kidnapped and held hostage until join the army. You say hello to your boss and get punched in face but say thank you back.

Maybe this is why Kojima had to leave Konami he was kidnapping and beating his staff
 
Maaaaaaan, they really throw you out in the deep end as soon as the Prologue is over.

I like it. It's been a long time since I've played a game where I didn't just immediately know exactly what I should be doing and how from the jump.

Probably discussed already, but what's the deal with the
avatar creation
in the prologue? I thought it was a Kojima level twist but is it just for
mgo
? Or does it have some secret purpose? When it happened I thought "this explains everything I've read up til now."
 
After re watching some msg 3, snake doesn't talk that much beside the codec. Most boss fights he doesn't say anything until a codec pops up.
 
So I finally played my first FOB mission, I managed to swipe 9 of the guys security staff before I was notified that he was joining. The shit thing is, I was right at the goal and it reset me back to the beginning. I was like wtf before he came up behind me and blew me away with a shotgun.

There is so much unexplained depth in the game's layers. And that is despite all the tutorials that they throw at you to familiarise with the basic mechanics.
 
Do the key bindings not save for anyone else? Every time I start the game up they revert back to default settings and I have to re-bind my controls how I like them again, really annoying.
 
Can you salute back to your soldiers at MB?

I feel a dick hitting them for no reason.

Even though they seem to enjoy it.

Hmmm... maybe not Kojima, but he could have gotten the inspiration from elsewhere...

I wish I could see which outposts I haven't conquered yet. You get an extra award when you take over an outpost for the first time but it's hard to keep track of these things when outposts respawn enemies over time.

A lot of them unlock as you do the prior ones in the 'series'. So "Rescue _____", "Rescue ____ 2", etc.

Some unlock with plot progression.

I'm stuck here too. Except mine is 203 seconds on PS4. I uploaded my save to ps+ and deleted the game twice now. It doesn't seem to like this update.. What do?
 
its funny. I did the exact opposite. I lured them on the brigde then ran up the right side.

I was stuck there for a long time too. Turns out that the pair on the right will eventually start to go under the bridge and that's when you can sneak past them on the bridge. You can try and throw some empty magazines but they don't react at all from my experience.

Isn't he showing up somewhere in your staff list? (Go to the "All Staff" tab. His name is Hideo.)
 
Man I thought Peace Walker had insane amount of sexual tension between Boss and Kaz. First few hours of V and was just waiting for them kiss laying it on a bit thick lol
 
Please tell me someone else spent 3 hours on the first rescue mission....

I feel so terrible at this game

Kaz is too busy with deciding if he is being gloomy/angsty or cheerful so he has no time for romances with BB.

Killed (or let's say, I hit) some of them with the Honey Bee. But then I just ran the fuck away.
 
Ugh... seeing the same opening cut scene over and over again while it tries and fails to "Install game data. 203 seconds." is getting really grating. I want to play the damn game.

Do I need to be connected to the server to make this install work? It's timing out when connecting to the server every-time I restart.
 
Isn't it possible to use the chopper to travel from one LZ to another without leaving Afghanistan? It works on Mother Base, but the "select LZ" button is not available in Afghanistan.

It's kinda annoying to only have the option to travel for minutes on horse back, or to get out of the area and load back in.
 
Anyone else have an issue where the cassettes stop playing if someone calls on the radio? Just happened to me. The player was still on and you could see it moving on the timer but no music was playing.

Not all Russian soliders can act as translators. They have to have the translator skill. One mission from the initial set of Side Ops gives you the task to extract such a guy.

Had the same issue, restart your console (if you're playing on one, not sure how it works with PC) and it will fix itself.

If you are on PS4, press the bottom left part of the touch pad to pause and skip cutscenes.
