Jeez the guards in this game have fucking hawk eyes. They would make the KPA in Crysis on Delta difficulty blush.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm using the desert camo in Afghanistan and they spot me from God knows where unless I prone.

Prone is the key. Crawl everywhere. Only crouch/stand if you're behind cover. And hold Triangle while prone if the bad guys are coming near. You're really hard to spot with good camo and triangle-prone.

I had a couple of bad sessions earlier this week, but tonight I stuck to the rules above and nailed 2 side ops and an Episode with phenomenal success, getting almost every guard.

Also - use enpty magazines all the time. If someone is about to see you, chuck one behid them. If you want to get up to them quickly to CQC, chuck one behind them. If a body is about to be discovered, chuck one to distract the aporoaching fool. Etc.

So currently I only have 3 issues with the game:

1) Extraction prisoners in some side ops can be extremely tedious when the guards refuse to give you the needed intel. I ran around for a good 20-30 minutes in one of them until I googled it. The fucker was placed a super random place. Same with that lame sheep mission.

2) Ocelot or Miller giving you useless intel about random collectibles while you're listening to casette tapes. They completely override the volume of the casette tapes. It was incredible dumb in GZ and somehow it appear even worse now.

Is there a way to turn up the volume of the casette tapes? I find them to be somewhat low.

3) The motherbase appear super boring. There's no interaction with soldiers, named characters or D-Dog. You can only boost morale, yay and do side ops or whatever.

With that said I'm loving everything so far. I just finished mission 6 with 10-11 hours played. The prologe was a bit slow, but overall good. I don't have an issue with how the story is presented although I've listened to all casette tapes so far so maybe that's why. I like listening to them between traveling to places on the horse. So far I don't think there have been an actual lack of cinematic sequances compared to previous game. I'm going to go ahead and assume that since this game have a lot of content it'll mostly appear as if there are fewer cinematics due to them being spread out. I could be wrong though.

So far a great game =)

Yeah I figured as much. It's just... not all that fun having to crawl all the time considering how open the areas are.

You really need to actually stay out of sight unlike previous MGS games where enemies are shortsighted.

Haven't played any previous MGS games, but the stealth in 5 seems... solid. Light, sound, and vision range all play important parts in stealth. Like, it's possible to avoid being spotted by hiding behind things, crouch-walking or going prone, or simply going where they aren't. The AI is no slouch either, capable of countering Snake's actions or being misdirected. It makes stealth a lot of fun, even though pure action seems like a much more efficient way to play.

I like it a lot.

Hell yeah, gotta murder out the base

Yeah, you're infiltrating during the day.

I did 100% of my infiltrations today during the daytime and it was my best session yet. In daytime guards are more spaced out and often more front-facing. Camo works better and if you crawl almost everywhere you're fine (and it feels badass).

At night time they see worse but are more bunched together. Until they get NVG. Then you're fucked.

You can get surprisingly close without needing to crawl. Dont worry. When you're within 50 feet or so, start crawling. And it's a fast crawl so you cover the ground quickly. And if you have ridges/tall bushes/barriers/buildings around you can still crouch or even walk around.

Uh well yeah they can spot you quickly. Make sure you're not running and never walk around straight up in enemy camps. Use reflex thingy if you're new. You can also safely use explosives on their communication stuff to distract them.

The AI have been improved in this game compared to GZ so there's that.

Also be patient and once the tranq gun is at lvl 2 it'll be much easier to land headshots from further away. The starter gun is horribad. Oh and you can always call in for more ammo/suppresor so just use away and call in when you need. You can lay down an entire camp if you feel like.

Agree, it feels like the most realistic stealth game in years if not ever. Maybe since Chaos Theory and OG Thif.

Mission 6 question:

After getting the honey bee, and mist starts to appear, there is a room with candles and a radio playing something distorted like the red hallway voice in P.T., but it Wasnt from it. Cant pick the cassete either. Anyone found that too? It was pretty creepy.

Specially since after that you find the skulls with the way they move.

Mission 1 extra task question:
How do I avoid the Skulls without being detected? My plan was to sneak past them on D-Horse but they spotted me anyways.

Getting really annoyed by the constant Kojima this, Kojima that every 20-30 minutes. Game is good, but it doesn't really feel like Metal Gear Solid to me. Not disappointed, just knew it would be different going in due to Ground Zeroes and I've accepted that this is Kojima's last one.

Open world feels kind of pointless to me to be honest. Is it really that empty or there's more to it than it meets the eye? I'm 7 hours in and all I really do is extract after a mission is done. If anything, I do enjoy the Hitman style sandbox approach to each mission but getting to the mission itself feels like a lot of filler.

Best wishes.

Any way to restart the missions without it counting against you?

I haven't even started the game yet, but am curious.

I was stuck there for a long time too. Turns out that the pair on the right will eventually start to go under the bridge and that's when you can sneak past them on the bridge. You can try and throw some empty magazines but they don't react at all from my experience.

The only thing I don't like so far is the tutorial. It takes a thousand times too long for what it is introducing.

Or...
You can run past the group on the right while on the horse! It worked for me. (Yes, I got the bonus and everything.)

I really don't like the peace walker structure. Thankfully the gameplay and level design is so, soo much better this time around that it isn't bothering me as much.

And I must add that collecting plants and stuff really wasn't necessary. So much loot...

A major important story spoiler far late in the game. Need some help.

Does anybody know where I can find the body of the man on fire? Been looking everywhere with DD yet nothing. I know I'm not looking hard enough lol.

EDIT: Never mind, found it.

My client says I lost connection to the online servers(and I can't get back on) and that I can't use online features for now. Do I miss out on anything if I keep playing in offline mode?
