Troy Baker seriously needs to learn how to pronounce "Tselinoyarsk." It's pronounced exactly as it is written, minus the T. C'mon.

I spent way too much time last night trying to find a fucking sheep. Stuff like this is why I avoid open world checklist games because I know I'm going to have to do EVERY tedious task and I will get frustrated with the lack of story progress. At least the soldiers in the area told me about tons of diamonds, because they sure wouldn't tell me about where to find a god damned sheep. So I came out of that side mission at least 300k richer.

Still haven't killed anyone and I'm getting real good with the tranq gun. I played through Ground Zeroes not realizing it had an ironsights mode but watching Uknighted for a bit yesterday showed me the error of my ways. Now my question is - can you make it default to aiming down the sights? Tapping RB constantly is getting old. Maybe a simple mod idea for the PC version?

God damn mission number
28
. The difficulty spikes with the
skull unit
are ridiculous sometimes.

Anyone got any tips for the
snipers? they keep spotting me, insta-death

Question about that medical platform secret everyone is talking about:

I'm on mission 13, I've been to the platform, I saw
the blue door on the third floor
, but then
inside was a red door, under construction I think?
Not sure. Am I screwed?

Go around them. Stay prone, behind cover. I took the far right route & they didn't see me at all.

Have you rescued a wandering Mother Base soldier yet (one from '75)? I'm not sure if that unlocks it, but the mementos you get from them has to do with that medical bay room.

I just started the game and finished the Prologue. But I am completely lost, story wise. Without spoiling the rest of the game, can someone answer the following:

1. If this takes place before MGS2 and MGS4, why does Big Boss have a robotic arm, and shit protruding from his face?

Also, during the Prologue, the guy with the bandaged face that helped me, had Keifer Sutherland's voice. Isn't he playing Big Boss in the game?

Spent over an hour on Episode 5 with several retries because I kept doing something dumb. The checkpoint was right outside the compound so I essentially had to do it from scratch each time. But it was all worth it because it doesn't count all the alerts and shit if you die! I refined my plan and approach each time, so the experience of knowing where all the guards and objectives were was pretty helpful. In the end, I cleared everything perfectly, got out, summoned my horse, then a friend messaged me over Steam and I got distracted and rode the horse off a cliff and died AGAIN. Luckily it triggered a checkpoint just before that, or I would be fucking crying. Lolololol.

wait a sec, do you not get cumulative penalties for checkpoint restarts like in GZ? I just see a 'no retries' entry on that screen. I didn't even notice last night, presumably because I was spending too much time fucking around/sheep hunting.

I am assuming stun arm knocks out soldiers longer than normal CQC take-downs?

I am really enjoying being the six million dollar man clotheslining everybody. I cleared most of a base with just that and smoke grenades.

Really excited to sink my teeth into this over the weekend. I only had time to play through Mission 3 last night, which seems to be where the real game starts. Mission 3 was a blast though. I heard Kids in America playing in a house and had to have it. As I'm getting the tape, some guy walks in and I tranq him in the face - turns out he's the dude I need! I get him outside to Fulton and get spotted, so I start lighting up the base as their commander floats away on a balloon. As soon as he's in the sky I hop in my horse and get the hell out of there.

can someone just answer a q for me?

can you kill quiet with a gun with like...real bullets and still get her? I thought i had to drain her stamina so i did the entire fight with a tranq.

a tranq pistol. against a sniper.

but hey it worked. just curious if i put myself through way too much work

It's not cumulative. Neither are kills. Nor are they penalties, it's now a bonus for not killing or restarting.

Play the game & you'll have your answers. Minor retcons here & there with the lost limbs.

I did the same, but I don't think it matters. The cutscene will be the same regardless of the method you use.

The adaptive AI is one of the best things I've ever seen. Used sleep grenades a little bit too much and now nearly every soldier in Africa has a gas mask on.

I got spotted walking around the house with that tape. Ended up leaving a pile of bodies at the door hopped out a window, found the guy chilling and he got alerted, shot him a few times in the chest to stun him a bit, ran up to him cqc'd him and dropped him on his head and Fultoned his ass out. Then I just hopped on my horse and choppered out.

Yep. I made a lot oy my missions at night with the tranq gun, and now there is people with NVG with helmets to screw with me.

Anyone knows what you should especially focus on when you want to get an S rank?

Time.and optional objectives are by far the biggest contributors to score.

Otherwise just try and play well. Getting caught, going lethal, going reflex all help too so try and limit how many of those you do. Don't feel pressured to need full stealth, no kills.

What do you mean Area of Operation? I know about the MB fast travel. Is it something to do with the guard outposts?

Afghanistan and Africa maps are called Area of Operation, the game called them like this.

You mean the shipping platforms in the major outposts, right?

yeah, tutorial didn't explain that shit, i thought it's just another poster but turn out it's shipping platforms.

Dumb question but can't you scan soldiers with your binocs to see if they have any good skills you might want to recruit? I don't know how. I thought I read something about an upgrade for the binocs but I can't find it. I'm only on mission 5-6 if that matters. Thanks

Konami JPN just uploaded a Debriefing video. Kojima talks with Robin Atkin Downs, Kyle Cooper, Troy Baker, Harry Gregson-Williams, Greg Miller, Geoff Keighley, and visits the family of a recently passed MGS fan.

TY for the share. Kojima and his crew deserve a standing ovation for what they've done for the gaming industry. I hope Kojima continues to make videogames.

You need to upgrade your scope through R&D.

there's an upgrade for your binoculars you can develop but you need your R&D level to be about 8 or higher (I think)

Yes, I used the sniper rifle.

This game. Kojima this game!

I like how everyone was complaining about Konami not putting Kojima's name in the game, but man it's literally plastered everywhere ingame.

I did the same, but I think so. Wished I have a tranq sinper, but at least I got a S rank on this mission on my first try.

What defines Perfect Stealth / No kills?

I've done runs without killing anyone or being seen outside of CQC interrogation. Is it literally just doing the objective and interacting with no enemy?

I really, REALLY want to play this damn game.
I'm currently at Peace Walker, and just realized I'm just rushing the game and not enjoying it at all. I know it's a good game, but I'm rushing it to play PH.
Is there any video on youtube that explain PW and GZ's story, so I can play Phantom Pain?

God damn why am I at work! I really wasn't the game's biggest fan when it launched, and parts of the un-MGS design still irk me a bit, but I can't stop thinking about playing it when I'm away.
