– I suck at the stealth. Keep getting the areas alerted, but combating your foes is satisfying to execute, especially doing those CQC’s! I spent over an hour on mission 3, where I’m sure I could have spent 3 minutes on it, because I wanted to fulton EVERYTHING back to base. I didn’t kill anyone, but I ran circles around the building punching the throwing people into walls. So much for stealth. Maybe next time. Got a C ranking for it, too :(

Don't worry too much about Mission 3's rank. You can go back with a sniper rifle and get an S rank in 5 minutes flat.

Does it take a realllllly long time for some of the iDroid stuff to come up for anyone else sometimes? Mostly when bringing up some of the MB stuff, the load times are really bad sometimes.

I think it has to do with the online server stuff (which is dumb when you're still in early single-player stages). I've had better results in offline mode.

Go offline.

Mission 8

I cant destroy this last tank! It takes me 2 C4s and 2 rockets to kill the first. The 2nd tank just wont go down! Any tips???

I was in the same situation. I had to go back into the village to get more ammo.

Man, you seem to be everywhere when MGS4 gets brought up. I get that you love it, but you seem to get a bit too into defending the game.

I'm pretty sure dude CRTL + F "MGS4" for any hate, and he's right there with his Metacritic screencaps to rush to his beloved's defense. No matter what the thread is, he can't let it go. He has to protect it.

Anyway, on the MGS5 front...these niggas failed the ViewtifulJC Open World Traversal Test, which is "make traveling to the hot points on the map fun". Some fast cars with interesting roads, or flying, or platforming, or parachuting, or wingsuiting, or Arkham City/Knight rappelling and gliding. Nah, you get to spend hella downtime extracting from an helicopter, loading, picking a mission, picking a loadout, loading, slowly dropping into an LZ, and then gotta travel on foot or horseback just to get to the fuckin' place. God forbid one of the side ops on the other side of the map and you don't have a LZ/fast travel station there, cuz now you gotta follow all these pre-determined roads to get there. Hella mountains everywhere that you can't cross, trying to sneak past more and more fuckin' outposts, taking up more time. Shit is a hassle, b.

Because of my name I think I can express my point. I am a fan, and have signed framed MGS3 posters hanging in my house.

I loved MGS4. I loved them all. This is probably my least favorite. I wish there was more exposition, and taking the codec's out for tapes is not doing it for me. Traversing the terrain is horrid. It boggles my mind.

I quit around mission 20. watched the true ending on Youtube, and called it a day.

Excellent gameplay best in the series by a long mile, its just not what I wanted. It doesn't end how I wanted, and the ending makes me feel the least amount of reward for pouring what would be 80 hours into a game.

MGS1>MGS3>MGS4>MGS2>MGS5.

Now Im not going to be a debbie downer, and come in here to ruin everyone's good time.

The first 45 min of 5 is some of the best I have ever played, unfortunately, its all down hill after that. I don't know if this game had a chance to be fully realized, but I really feel like something is missing, and its the most complete incomplete game.

If this was Kojima's true vision, I don't like it. Not enough meat there.

You should have quit at episode 3
1
. You missed out on some pretty crazy shit happening and a pretty memorable boss fight.

Funny enough, wherever MGS4 is mentioned, there you are mindlessly hating it. So you are the one to talk.

i've already been enjoying this game a lot

but man

D.D. adds an entirely new dynamic to the way I play the game and it's extremely fun.

I'm usually good with minimalistic open worlds. But yeah, this part eats. Afghanistan sorely needs more alternate routes. Those impassible cliffs are... frowny face. Frowny all day.

because the servers are crap

I gotta say, The one thing that's nice about TPP vs. all the other online enabled games, at least if the servers are down it still lets you get into the single player game with no fuss. I can't imagine the meltdown if the game tried to connect to the server, the server was down, and then the game just said "whelp, better luck next time". It would be worse than Diablo 3's Error 37 nonsense.

True dat. I just wish they used a better way to import your GZ savefile. I don't like having to be lucky enough to get online just to import my savefile.

Two guards, you let DD attack one and the other is yours.

So good.

I called in for a supply drop before the tanks rolled in. Stayed really far away and took out both before they spotted me.

My impression after 4 hours last night:

1) Best looking game I have ever seen on a console. I literally was talking to myself. First game to make me feel yeah this is what next gen was supposed to be.

2) The intro is a masterpiece.

The music is good. The atmosphere is second to none.

The highs and lows of the MGS fan.

Is there no way to actually design the layout of the MB structures? I just made a support platform yesterday, and it's reeeaaaallly far away from my main structure. I had to drive over 3 or 4 bridges just to get to it.

That's kinda by design. They want you to travel these by car or box or helicopter to show the massive base off. Plus "training" for F.O.B. invasions.

As i posted previously a soldier congratulated me for my birthday (it's today). So... I just arrived to Mother Base from a mission and they have some surprise party going because it. They gave me a cake and everything.

I don't understand the team management. I auto-assign roles to everyone, but only some get icon in the first column (which I assume is the role).

You can always replay the mission later once you've upgraded your equipment. Also, make sure you stop the supply truck and grab the present in the back.

Had to take a break after the prologue, the shaky cam is giving me motion sickness lol

Same here holy crap, I thought it was just me. I tend to get motion sickness with certain FPS games but never had the problem with any of the 3D MGS's. The prologue camera shake/closeness was terrible for me, had to turn it off after. I hope that's not the case for the rest of the game.

What does Direct Contract in the staff management menu mean?

It means they can't be removed from you during F.O.B. invasions. If someone steals them, they get a clone or something.

Just waiting for the Kickstarter to get him to re-ecord every sound byte Kiefer says in TPP and mod it all into the PC version.

I'm in for that. In my head I hear Hayter a lot of times with Keifer is talking, especially on the end of sentences where Hayter would put some weird inflection/crackle on it.

Played MGS1 & 2 years ago when they were released, thought they were just okay. Couldn't be bothered to get past the first area in 3. Never played 4.

COMPLETELY Sold on 5.

I have the GZ suit, but I can't bring myself to switch out the normal camo uniforms. Looking like MGS3 Snake makes me too happy.

Sneaking suit from GZ looks goat in the updated lighting of TPP. But yes... i have been trying different suits. All of them look so good.
