I asked this before in the review thread but it probably wasn't the best place so I'll ask it again here. How graphic does the game go regarding sex/violence without spoiling much? I have a sixth grade bro who I'm not sure should have access for this game if it pushes the envelope too far.

It's pretty fucking violent, and not in an over the top Gears-y way, but in a fairly convincing way. I don't know if there's much sex beyond Quiet's ridiculous clothing and helicopter behavior. But the open scene alone has multiple mass shootings and brutal point blank killings.

Anyone know where PC save files for this are located? I'm tempted to cut and paste them elsewhere so I can replay the prologue and then cut and paste the old save files back into the folders when I'm done. Anyone try this yet?

Bump, hoping someone can help me out with this. I'd like not to destroy my save so far so any info on this would be much appreciated.

Whenever I see MGS4 being that on I read that most long term fans didnt like it despite high critic and user ratings. Well I am a long time MGS fan and I love MGS4.

Nothing comes close to MGS3 for me though, it was the perfect mixture of crazy, cutscenes and gameplay with the most memorable boss fights in terms of actual gameplay.

MGS2 is great but it loses out on gameplay, music and atmosphere to MGS3/MGS4 for me. MGS5 is a little too sparse and a bit too crazy (of what little there is given the timeline and the undertone that it's suppose to be a relatively serious MGS). MGS3 is just fuckin perfect.

Question about Quiet:
When fighting her, is it even possible to sneak up to her, like The End? every time I tried she would run away like it's AI told it that I was nearby and not because she spotted me. Is it possible to sneak up to her when she's washing herself in the water (with rainbows)?

yeah 3 or 1 is the best to me, though if 5 continues to impress this much on the gameplay front it may become the fav even with a less impressive story.

Is there no way to actually design the layout of the MB structures? I just made a support platform yesterday, and it's reeeaaaallly far away from my main structure. I had to drive over 3 or 4 bridges just to get to it.

Definitely. MGS3 and MGS are my favorite in the series. Just perfection.

it's possible to melee if that's what you mean

I have only played the prologue and some of the first Mission, and just based on that alone, I am pretty safe in saying I do not think a 6th grader should be playing this game. There is ultra violence for sure. 10-12 years old just seems too young to play this game.
I am sure others will disagree, and I am sure there will be plenty of kids that age who play the game, but I would say it does push the envelope just on the violence side of things.

I replayed some MGS4 this weekend, and man. Hayter is awful in that game. My girlfriend even asked if that was a real person or if it was a computer voice. He's so monotone and unrealistically gruff. Like I've never heard an actual person's voice sound as torn up as Hayter's does in that game.

Kiefer is light years beyond that. When Big Boss says "Kaz... Tell me what to do. Like you used to." It actually goes towards capturing the weariness and brokenness of a man who has had everything taken from him, who has just gone through a literal hell, and who is seeing his best friend for the first time in years. It's far from amazing, but at least it's an actual performance that captures emotions rather than a gruff line reading.

The gruffness is what set his character apart from the rest of the series though, in my opinion.

It was so iconic.

And you think fans of the series didn't vote on that user score?

There's backlash against MGS4? Definitely.

The majority of the fans love it? Most definitely.
Of course they did, but it's relative. Context matters, mgs4 being my favorite game of 2008 doesn't mean I would rank it highly out of the entire series. I'm willing to bet that you haven't been a fan of the series as long as some here or on the mgs boards. Not that there's anything wrong with that, or any sense of elitism. But what you're looking for in a nga me is going to be different from the the mgs fanbase. I'm done.

Use your cardboard box and step on the orange platform near the heli pad.

Anyone else on PS4 getting stuck at the "logging into the servers" screen at the moment? Tried closing, restarting ps4, checking for update...nothing's working.

Of course. But there's a difference between "shifting a game on your favorites list" to the "the game is garbage" nonsense that you get from a handful of people here.

And maybe I have not been a fan for as long as some people, but that means little. I didn't start with the MSX original for obvious reasons but I started with the NES port, followed with Snake's Revenge and jumped to Metal Gear Solid on the PSX. I've been a hardcore fan since then.

le wut? he sounds amazing in the Elegia trailer.

Like I said, it sounds awkward in game. Doesn't help that he talks nonsense with random phrases inserted in between to sound more complex.

As for the trailer itself, you could talk about constipation slowly with Elegia playing in background and it'd sound amazing.

16 chapters in and loving it. However if the main purpose of this game isn't to level up your fulton recovery to the point where you use it to pick up Sahelanthropus in the big dramatic finale then I'm going to be seriously disappointed.

Hey! Stop arguing about MGS4 and help a dude out!

Still stuck at "Logging in to server..."

C'mon. I called out sick today for this shit.

Edit: took a few minutes but it finally get up and let me play the game. whew

Hot take: 4 is way better than the overwritten nonsense that is MGS2. Maybe it's because I played it for the first time in the HD Collection, but that game took me months for me to force myself through. Almost kept me from playing the astoundingly good MGS3, which I finished in practically 2 sittings, I was that engrossed..

Yea, proof that GAF has terrible taste.

But you are on GAF. Therefore you have terrible taste, including your taste in tastes. Therefore GAF actually has good taste.

Just watch the trailer that came out this E3, those lines feel awkward in game.
I thought skull face was one of the best voice actors I've heard so far.
His tone is just close enough to 'wacky' villain but not quite over the top that I can enjoy it but when you see what he's capable of you know he's a legitimate fucking threat and is to be taken 100% seriously.
In fact I love all the voice acting in this game. Kiefer is killing it. When he actually talks

Man, you seem to be everywhere when MGS4 gets brought up. I get that you love it, but you seem to get a bit too into defending the game. I agree, a lot of people get a bit hyperbolic about MGS4, going so far as to call it a garbage game (which it clearly isn't). However, I don't think anyone can deny that it does have some glaring problems, with certain elements of the game absolutely being terrible. If you like that, great, but trying to shut up detractors with completely valid complaints by resorting to "but look at the reviews/votes!" isn't fair. A sizable portion of the fan base considers the game bad (in relation to the rest of the series at least), and whether or not that group is a minority (which I don't really think it is), the position seems pretty valid.

MGSV got tons of 10s, but I don't think a lot of the fanbase is going to agree with them in the long run. Hell, I've seen you in other threads voice displeasure over certain elements of the game, right (Or it could have just been the story, I dunno)? But you must be wrong, since look at all those perfect scores.
