Nobody who knows spoilers say anything hinting at what it is, but I'm only on mission 16 and I feel like I'm pretty sure I already know
what the "weapon to surpass Metal Gear" is.

did mission 8 with C4 placed on the ground to destroy the tanks

destroyed both as they drove. killed the colonel. rescued the prisioner. 6/7 mission objectives on my first go, without rocket launcher nor anything

prettaaayy prettay good

So I just opened my collectors edition and this rag was in there.

WTF is this rag supposed to be?? I don't remember reading about it in the included items. Did everyone else get this?

lmfao

Hahaha. You can't be serious. That was actually in there? Man wtf happened with that packaging center.

Yes. I was like "wtf is this" and my girlfriend told me it was to clean off the game discs lol.

Then I thought instead of a map I got a rag, but luckily the map is in the game case.

I have no idea why I have this lol

I'm on Xbox One and have been getting "servers down for maintenance" all day, it's a bit annoying. In fact it reminds me of MGO on the PS3, constant issues trying to connect.

I have no idea how this staff micromanagement bullshit works.

I just want them to make me cool stuff.

Let them auto sort it for you, and unlock the Idroid upgrade that lets you see the soldier skills. If you wanna make stuff, priority is getting guys with a high grade in the 'wrench' stat, and sticking them in R$D. You might have to move some E/D/C's around once you start getting B-grade soldiers.

It unlocks side ops for more gunsmith extracting.

Ah, cheers!

I just sat with Quiet at an intersection after the airport, put something to block the road which caused the convoy to stop and just shot the truck driver. Then I used missiles for the battle after that. Also the enemies don't notice you when they pop out of the truck, so you can get Quiet to just shoot them over and over with no repercussions.
Awesome. Thanks.

Sorry to ask again but how do you upgrade your R&D level?

Extract soldiers with higher R&D ranks than your current staff. Example; if your lowest ranking soldier in R&D is ranked C, then don't extract anymore C soldiers, go for B & up. That goes for all other units in MB as well.

At what point can I buddy with Quiet? There was a moment where I thought it was about to happen...

Keep playing story missions & it'll happen.

Does it require other sidequests to be completed? The gunsmith I rescued was 107.

Miller will call you saying
that you captured the apprentice, not the master. More side ops will open.

No, you don't.
Gahhhh, I feeeeeel like I do, and some of the tapes are telegraphing it (probably intentional misdirection though). Don't confirm or deny (since I'm assuming you beat it already based on your posts), but my guess:

The LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES!

Can't wait to get further into this, I feel like I'm just hitting the point where big reveals are gonna start droppin'.

I wont spoil anything for you. Just keep playing :)

Anyone else having their center channel not play any audio? I am on PC.

Unplug your USB headset and replug it in?

My headset has that weird thing(I'm sure it's my computer) where if I put it to sleep, turn it back on, it reverts to Stereo instead of Surround. Maybe that will fix it for you?

People saying D-dog is useless... I find it quiet useful having it automatically mark guards I may have missed while lurking around. the distraction is pretty nice too.

I wish it was faster to swap buddies out though

D-Dog is the best buddy imo. He's pretty much like using wall hacks. I know that Quiet can scout too but I find her scouting to be much worse than D-Dog's marking.

Mission 12 Spoilers

I'm a little worried my game might be bugged after spending the last 3 hours on this mission. I get to the very end of the Metal Gear fight, hop in the helicopter and Ocelot says "Use the minigun." For some reason, I can't use the minigun? Normally there's a Triangle button prompt to use it, but nothing this time around. I've retried 4 times and keep getting killed by the MG jumping into the helicopter. I even restarted the game completely, but same thing. Any advice? Playing on PS4 by the way.

Questions:

1) How do unprocessed materials become processed? Is there any way to view a timeline for how long it takes to process?

2) Do I have to worry about putting recruits in their right spots/assignments? Or can I trust the game to do this? That's one level of micro management I am not interested in.

Just did a really intense extraction mission, this game fucking rules.

There's 2 sides to the chopper, maybe you're hopping in the side that doesn't have the minigun?

>_>

The prompt wont come up unless you're facing the mini-gun. Face the left or right side of the chopper, depending on what side you're on.

Both sides have a mini-gun.

1) No timeline to see, bit it's your Base Dev platforms that handle that. The better that unit is, the faster processing will be.

2) It's automatic sorting. Miller does it for you. You can take a look at the soldiers & rearrange some if you like. Sometimes the auto sort isn't the best, but it's good enough.

It is running through my reciever. It is still set properly@ 7.1. I don't think I am missing any audio, i still get all the conversations there just isn't anything from the center.

You don't just hit triangle to get the minigun, you have to turn the camera to the side with the minigun for the prompt to show. Maybe that's the issue?

Regarding (2), the game will put them in the right place when you ask it to. It puts them according to what rating they have for certain divisions of work. However, occasionally you'll need to look at it and move certain people to get certain upgrades.

E.g. You may have someone who is B rank in Intel and Medical, so the game will put him on either, but if the game favors him for intel and your medical staff is small/lacking, you may feel like you need him in Medical if you want to rank up. You may have mostly C or D ranks in medical and a lot of B ranks in Intel so look at the ratings occasionally. Most of the time, automatic placement will work.

1) Base development team handles it. Higher level = faster conversion. You can open staff or open the mother base tab and cycle with dpad, can't remember which, and hit the bottom left touch pad corner to get info on each team.

2) Yeah if you hit auto assign it's all good. Unless you have troublemakers you need to manage.

What's the point of putting a rocket launcher and chaff on my helicopter?

If you wanna call in it for support, or if you go to a LZ directly for drop off/evac in a base where it'll get shot.

Early missions it will probably survive, but I've had later missions where I didn't use the armour and got killed before my feet touched the ground.

...but most of the time they are just a waste of GMP to keep equipped.

Quiet is amazing for "kill the target" missions and to clean up zones since she can mark and kill enemies easy, once you get full customization, silencer is a must on your sniper and in 3-4 missions since you get Quiet you can get her silenced snipers.

D-Dog is great for "no kill" missions, extract missions and hidden places. Since he's a wall hack 100% from 30-40 meters.

I dunno if I'm missing the obvious but I'm about to fail this target practice sideop on 32/35 targets hit. Where are the rest? I shot all of the ones in the big warehouse room but I don't see any others.

Explore the area after you fail it. The targets you missed will be ghosted so you can see them. This helped me when I couldn't find all the targets on the R&D platform.

How is that functionally different than calling in a support air strike?

The helicopter will specifically target moving enemies. Airstrikes don't.

Every base has a target practice, I doubt anyone can help unless they know which one for a start (some are ridiculous).

In previous MGS games if I got an alert I pretty much loaded the save and tried again, but in this one I'm just rolling with it. It leads to some pretty awesome moments. I think I love this game.
