Early boss spoiler (around mission 7-ish iirc)

If anyone wants an easy and hilarious non-lethal way to take
Quiet
out:
mark her and drop a supply drop on her twice.

I can't seem to get the music to play from the helicopter speakers. I developed the speaker and it has a little yellow box with the word "on" inside there is a big plus behind it. Also it won't let me develop the upgrade directly above it seems. Any help would be appreciated.

As someone who just spent an hour
chasing her around with a pistol,
fuck everyone who does this. :P

So far the only major negative with this game is the same negative that plagued PW. Replaying old missions on a harder difficulty so you could progress with the story, like why? why do that? I really don't understand. Thankfully they give you a few easy ones to do even on a much harder difficulty but then there are ones that are insane like a few boss battles. You'd die in 1 - 3 hits. *facepalm* if you finish one mission, you'd get another story mission so that's good, I guess.

They could have easily avoided this problem because at this point the story is very engaging and I want to continue on with it but replaying old missions on a much harder difficulty by FORCE sucks the joy out of the game frankly.

....wow

was doing mission 9 perfectly

d-horse jumps off a fucking cliff randomly

die

restart

no checkpoints

wow

im pissed

I am souring on this game at an alarming pace. Everything about it is starting to rub me the wrong way. Mostly minor gripes or small annoyances here or there, but when here or there starts becoming "every single thing" they add up real fucking fast.

Been working on Mission 10 for a while and it's just become exceedingly not fun.

Can you elaborate?

I want to play through as non lethally as possible, but the
Skulls
really seem to make that impossible. In
Mission 6
I got lucky and just ran away, but is there a good strategy for later missions?

edit: Also, blowing up vehicle missions. Is there a consistent way to get a guy out of a tank before trying to blow it up, or should I just stop with the whole "no killing" thing?

If I recall from GZ destroying a vehicle and subsequently killing its passengers doesn't count as a kill.

Damn. I hope you find a way to painlessly get through those. I really don't want to feel stuck forever at the end.

Early in the game when you first go to Mother Base, I was beating people up and threw one off the side which killed him and failed the mission. Sent me ALL the way back to the heli cutscenes and I had to redo all the tutorials.

Wait what? You need to replay missions to get new story missions?

Only on FOBs.

Mother base doesn't really get invaded.

So the "only" reason to fulton mortars and mounted guns is to sell them for a profit? You don't actually need them at the base?

Wow, that CQC stun does not last long at all. How long do the tranquiliser darts keep people down?

I'm on the verge of just saying "fuck it" and killing everyone I come across.

Anyone played both PS4 and PC version (on all highest settings)?

I'm trying to decide if I should get it for my rig (3770k/980/16GB/SSD) to play mostly in 1080p (from couch with controller), or my PS4 (where I already own GZ).

Is the PC version worth re-buying GZ for in GAF's opinion?
Thanks in advance DiamondGAF.

I kill way too many people lol. It is really fun to go loud in this game.

I'm actually the opposite, call it Metal Gear upbringing, but I actually don't take any lethal weapons with me. Not that I got a lot of S's so far, I only got one out of 10 missions, I just find it more fun this way.

Things got dicey of course in Mission 10 where you have to
destroy the tanks
, so I had to improvise, I found a small
tankish vehicle
in a nearby guard post.

If that's the mission in thinking about, that was a genius mission.

Totally the mission you're thinking about, also amazed I did it undetected.

Really though, the fact you can call for infinite ammo and suppressors mid mission is really stupid imho. Just give me a bit more ammo to start?
Then again, with the game as dynamic as it is, I don't know if that would even work.

Also character development (or, rather how they've been this whole game) thoughts after mission 12-
Kaz is a dick and I actively dislike him in this game. Hes nothing like the Kaz of the previous metal gears- hes paranoid and violent, quick to blame anyone around him for his problems. It's moreso annoying as hell?

Can't stop thinking about how much I loved that
Quiet
fight. During the course of one fight, my game went from day to night and back to day again, and each time I had to adjust to that change. Felt, for lack of a better term, epic.

Thats my favorite part of the game so far. Quiet is so creepy

Spent a while just doing side ops earlier, trying to upgrade myself for the main missions. Built Base Development and R&D platforms for Mother Base. Didn't realize how far apart they would be. This is one the few games where stealth is really incentivized. I have 9 perfect stealth, no kills missions completed. Highest on my friends list leaderboard despite having the least amount of playtime. (:

On a side note you are nearly invisible lying down. Did a side op and was shooting a dude out in the open no more than 10 feet away and he was just looking right at me confused the whole time.

Also, does capturing outposts do anything other than get points?

Do they count as a kill here.

Haven't done that, so no idea really.

Maybe something happens later in the game.

Can d horse and d dog permanently die?
No, when things get really bad for them they just get fulton'd.

Had the horse attacked by a tank and it just got back up, so they're pretty resistent anyway.

I assume the space apart is because of last gen systems holding back the engine. It really screwed us over in a number of ways.

Okay, so the side ops being repeatable is a glitch for sure. I just did one, and tried to make it register as complete by going right into the iDroid after and marking that mission again, and it instantly grayed out. It has stayed grayed out now, however the purple zone marker remains on the map.

I'd like to farm 114 before they patch this!

You'll need to have patience and experiment if you want an easier time with these missions. I think using everything you have at your disposal is the way to go so your approach will be different than the first time around because either some are Extreme difficulty where you die quick or others would be a game over if you get caught (no reflex mode or chicken hat allowed.)

I find the normal missions to be easy but the boss battles are annoying however I am sure with enough experimentation there would be a way to S rank them. Let me give you an example about a very early boss battle.
Quiet 1 hit kills you. Isn't that annoying?

I am interested to see how many will still be able to continue after this because the story is damn good in it's insanity, mystery as well as it's philosophical aspects. It's just that this thing they are forcing you to go through is annoying. Once you get a story mission/cutscene though, you're like..

Do you care about Metal Gear Online and the Ground Zeroes carryover stuff? If yes get it on PS4, if not then get it on PC.

Unless your friends play on a specific platform, then ignore the above and just go where your friends are.

Far as I can tell, entering new camps is the only way to checkpoint, aside from the more scripted encounters.

It can be really brutal.

mission has a time limit so I think it just doesnt have checkpoints no matter what

I went through a camp, thus why I thought i'd get one

anyway, did it now, used horse poop, 10/10

Very late in the game? Yes. It'll give you already played missions again but with different requirements. Extreme, Subsistance, Total Stealth.etc you'll know'em when you see them.

... That's fucking dumb. At that point I'll probably stop and YouTube the endings. I find the missions already take too long and are brutally punishing when you fuck up as it is.

That's gives me some confidence. If I can play all the souls games endlessly, I can do that. Also, it took two shots for that boss to kill me in my game...

Just started playing today and got through episode 1. The prologue was pretty cool. I'm still getting used to the mechanics. I kept getting spotted, so I'd just run away and then go back and try again. The tactic seemed to work. But then I tried to go the combat route and it seems to make the game much easier. You can take a lot of bullets and can mow down even large groups of enemies pretty easily. I'm not sure if I like this. I'm still way too early to have much of an opinion though. I only know that I want to keep playing.

That'll cut in your misaion rewards, fame and recruits. You can employ dead people.

so apparently you can customize weapons if you finish a certain string of side ops huh

any idea what these are?

looks like you can get a silenced sniper rifle way earlier by customizing one

Can I finish Side-Missions once I completed the game and is there mutliple endings? I hear something in this direction in the Community thread...
