Man I really wish my Cleveland Browns played the Cheatriots this year so they could crush their smug cheating asses into the ground on their way to the Super Bowl.

You are absolutely delusional, pal. No offense.

Yeah, this will definitely get appealed by the NFL.
The judge's logic here is basically that the NFL has to define punishment for any possible rules violation and someone is entitled to get off scot-free if they don't.
I love how the judge pours salt in the wounds of Indy fans in his decision by pointing out how Brady destroyed the Colts when the balls were re-inflated.
That's one reason. And it's a great one. But he also gave two other huge reasons for overturning.

I'd love to see the crossover between people who are fine with the Patriots cheating consistently and those who support Bernie Sanders because he would make for a more fair America.
hahaha he said that?
.Brady's passing performance during the game improved during the second half, after the footballs had been re-inflated. See Wells Report at 122 n.73 ("We were not asked by the NFL to investigate the potential competitive impact of the deflation of Patriots game balls and, therefore,
do not make any findings or reach any conclusions on that issue. Nevertheless, we note that Brady's performance in the second halfofthe AFC Championship Game- after the Patriots
game balls were re-inflated- improved compared to his performance in the first half. Specifically, in the first half, he completed II of21 passes for 95 yards and one touchdown, and in the second half, he completed 12 of 14 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns.").
"(A) inadequate notice to Brady of both his potential discipline (four-game suspension) and his alleged misconduct; (B) denial of the opportunity for Brady to examine one of two lead investigators, namely NFL Executive Vice President and General Counsel Jeff Pash; and (C) denial of equal access to investigative files, including witness interview notes.""
The last two are enough to vacate, the judge even noted during the trial that awards have been vacated for refusal to examine an investigator before
wtf are you talking about?
wtf are you talking about?
Hypocrisy.
The Award is premised upon several significant legal deficiencies, including (A) inadequate notice to Brady of both his potential discipline (four game suspension) and his alleged misconduct; (B) denial of the opportunity for Brady to examine one of two lead investigators, namely NFL Executive Vice President and General Counsel JeffPash; and (C) denial of equal access to investigative files, including witness interview notes.
Courts Questioning of Pash: "So which of the four games [suspension] is attributable to ball tampering,
and which is attributable to failure to cooperate?"
Pash Answer: "Well, the Award doesn't specify, and I don't believe there's any
requirement in the CBA to break it down that way. I think the
Commissioner makes a judgment, and he says this in the Award, he says
taking the record as a whole, considering all of the factors, he determined
that a four-game suspension was the appropriate sanction."
Court: So I ask you the same question ... how is [the Steroid Policy]like
deflating a football and not cooperating? Clearly the question is a fair
question to pose because clearly Mr. Goodell felt that he had to explain
[Brady's] four-game suspension. And his explanation about steroid use, in
my mind, only raised more questions than it answered, because I don't see
-I still don't see how the four games is comparable to a player using
steroids and a masking agent.
Pash: I think in the Commissioner's judgment it goes to the integrity of the
game.
The Court finds that no player alleged or found to have had a general awareness of the
inappropriate ball deflation activities of others or who allegedly schemed with others to let
air out of footballs in a championship game and also had not cooperated in an ensuing
investigation, reasonably could be on notice that their discipline would (or should) be the
same as applied to a player who violated the NFL Policy on Anabolic Steroids and Related
Substances.
It's in the decision, but this news article has itWhere did you find this?
I have read three articles about this at work this morning, and I still have no idea how this justice justified lifting all four games with the drop of a gavel. The only new quotes from the justice I keep seeing are:
..."premised upon several significant legal deficiencies,''...
..."Brady also had no notice that his discipline would be the equivalent of the discipline imposed upon a player who used performance enhancing drugs,"...
That really doesn't tell us anything.
And if they don't beat them it will be because the Pats cheated.Definitely surprised.
Now at least when the Bills beat them in Week 2 it'll be legitimate.
on one hand, the patriots and brady are cheaters and should be punished.
on the other hand goddell's power grab rubs me the wrong way as someone who cares about having a process where the players know what the comish is going to do.
that being said screw tom brady and screw the Goddell for not being able to fix their league.
Amazing.I hope Tom's tampon snap in his snatch.
A win for all sports fans.
Poor Jimmy G. He was gonna have a chance for his stock to rise.
And now I hope Tom and Gis can get their problems solved. GL to the first fam.
Edit: Looking into the cost of getting a jersey made with the judge's name on it.
Nope, something was up. No way there was nothing there.
Well, he was a good 8th round pickup for me as my second fantasy quarterback.
