"You destroyed their anti air radar? That wasn't one of the targets" - Surprised Kaz
Yeah, that got old very quickly.

Things that describe Kaz:
- he's a great CFO and HR manager.
- he's a bitter asshole.
- that wasn't one of the targets.

Things that describe Ocelot:
- likes dogs.
- dislikes engraved guns.
- sounds like Kaz way too often.
- is super chill. No wonder he chose Afghanistan.

It's interesting, but it is sparse... but it feels sparse because there's a lot of stuff stuck in between that doesn't advance the plot. Like, you'll do four merc jobs, and then a mission that has to do with Cipher/XOF that pushes the plot forward, then some more merc jobs, etc. Plus time going back and forth with Mother Base, Side Ops (some of which are integral to the plot), tapes are interesting, all the micromanagement.

The story is simply spread thin among a lot of missions so it so far doesn't feel as condensed and epic as previous games.

For instance, Snake Eater is one long continuous journey, takes place over a few days. Guns of the Patriots is one long journey, interspersed with some stuff in the plane. The Phantom Pain clearly takes place over months and months, but the story is something that... doesn't feel like it takes over that length of time, if that makes sense. Though if you strung all the main story missions together, it'd have a markedly different feeling I think.

Well, it actually feels like you have a job as a leader of mercenaries. It's the mundane reality of being Big Boss, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Dude has to work to eat, after all. Every so often he'll come across some really bizarre shit, but in the long run, it kinda makes more sense. He's got to rebuild his private army again. It's only really Miller who wants revenge, it seems like. Job Boss, should be his new codename.

Mission 32
This game man. Seriously how fucking awesome is this game? holy shit just finished chapter 1 and those last few missions leading up to the end were so exhilarating. I think its like missions 28-31 omg and those fights were really good. That metal gear fight + car drive probably put this up for me in the very top moments among the rest of the franchise.

Wow, I was doing some combat management while flying in and it turned out my landing zone was hot, but I couldn't exit the chopper because the idroid was stuck connecting to konami's shit servers and I managed to jump out just before my chipper exploded :(

Just got out of bed. Guess I'm gonna give the Honey Bee mission another go.
I fucked up yesterday anyway, so I could try and be more stealthy and use more resources.
It's just when you get spotted once, the whole army comes after you.

We seem to be going at the same pace. Dog is a lifesaver in
Oil refinery mission.
So many dudes that are in awkward places to spot. Also how beautiful is Africa, can't believe it runs as well as Afghanistan with all that foliage.

Is there any real point to playing as playing one of my Diamond Dogs, or should I just keep running around as Snake forever?

Haha, pretty much. More Ocelot, less Miller, please! Thankfully I'll be seeing the former much, much more than the latter when I replay the Solid Snake games after TPP.

big boss is a serious smartphone addict, checking out the newest status updates of his posse on motherbook while getting shot.

Some have special abilities, like faster running or crawling, but I play as Snake 99% of the time.

The fast running is pretty cool tho, it's like Raiden in GZ and it feels like you just fly through the battlefield.

I can't take them on story missions huh? I have a lady soldier that looks like a badass.

Mission 29 was frickin' rad for me, but I'm sure I owe it all to
knowing about parrying them being possible thanks to a friend earlier, and also Quiet's awesome timing with shooting anyone I parried
<3

Where can I find S ranked soldiers or is it random? It seems their average grade increases the further you progress. And where can I find 'him'?

was on my way to a side ops and suddenly triggered mission 11, I'm only up to 8.
at least I now know why the closest drop point for that side ops was way out

Just bought the limited edition PS4+MGS5. I must admit I wasn't even planning on getting one since I have less and less time to play nowadays but I got a good deal and now that I have it and played a little of MGS5, I'm very happy with this purchase.

I'm also enjoying the game a lot more than MGS4. It's been so long since I played MGS4 though that I don't remember much anyway.

I noticed, however, that the console runs a little hot. Is it normal?

Yeah, that happened to me too, I wasn't ready as I didn't have proper equipment, but I still S-ranked it on my first try by
dropping supplies on her head
.

I actually couldn't believe that worked, I only had basic equipment with me to hoard GMP.

Got this game 48 hours ago, currently just about to start
Africa.

As a long time MGS fan (one of my top 2 game series) I'm not sure how to feel about the game.Codecs are gone, replaced with cassette tapes which simply do not provide the same feel as codecs. its not simply about it "evolving" but it feels a bit more empty. The exposition delivered through codecs was often amazing. Now you have cassette tapes which are of a "catch you up to speed" after the fact. The element of suspense is often missing.

Its hard to describe why i feel vaguely dissapointed so far. The game play is great. Very fluid, the sneaking is fun and you really do get to find your own way into a camp but the problem for me is it abandons the core of what made Metal gear, metal gear.In an attempt to mimic rockstar, Kojima has sacrificed the story for an open world.

This isn't to say I'm not having, fun. I am having fun playing the game, but the fact that the game loses focus on the story (and too much i think) in return for an open world is not a sacrifice I like. Makes me think of how we have too many developers making games open world and sacrificing other aspects of their game in return.

wow at that pic (eatchildren), looking like amazing amy from gone girl. lmao

man i'm so love/hate with this. i don't like how big boss'/metal gear's send off has such a toned down boss, he barely says anything. i'm still in afghanistan but i hope he opens up more. and i think the open world feels very repetitive.

but at the same time i freaking love the rambo influence kojima had with this game, and also just how damn fun and fluid the game mechanics are. it's just so fun to play stealth and go guns blazing on the fly if things don't go your way, and i love the buddy mechanic. DD is my boy. the game feels like it needed a lot more refinement in it's ideas and more fleshing out but what's there is so fun. i thought i'd be burnt out on this series after 4 but from a gameplay standpoint this is tops.

edit: grinding to get upgrades sucks too, i want these weapons but i'm already kind of bored of fultoning soldiers.

Last week I was so exhilarated that my copy arrived early.
One week later, I'm actually struggling to complete it. This has to be the biggest disappointment for me this year.
Absolute great gameplay, but the rest is utter shite in terms of MGS expectations.
But I will finish it, dammit!

How the hell do I change a buddy mid mission or in free roam?

Also how come I lost that little cape Boss has around his neck? Is there a way to get it back?

Yooo, looks like this is our first gameplay shot from MGO3.

I'm pretty damn excited since the gameplay in V is so damn good.

This pic's been going around for a while now, right? Regardless, MGO is going to be fucking awesome, such a shame us PC players have to apparently wait quite a while for it.

really? i thought that was new, well guess i'm out of the loop, probably playing too much MGSV.

any tips on episode 29?

As I mentioned in my attempts (and how I had fun with it), what I did was
bringing Quiet, she'll be great at covering you. And then hide behind the tanks, waiting for blade Skulls to attack you. When you hear the unsheathe sound, get ready to parry with R2. Quiet will very likely also shoot the one you parried right after. When you have the chance (and they aren't rock-like), shoot some yourself at them. It took some time, but they eventually all died, and I never felt too close to dying.

Enemies will ignore you for up to three detection each...the fourth one will alert them.

The easiest way to do mission 16 is just use fulton, if you can't do that them get inside a Tank/ATB and keep your sniper (or shotgun) ready. But yes it's annoying when the game forces you like this, Deus Ex: Human Revolution had a similar kind of issue with its Bosses.

No the easiest way to do mission 16 is
to use d-horse, run straight to the back of the airport , hop over the wall, and Fulton the truck before it leaves. No tanks and you can just hop on d-horse after and run away from the skulls to exit the hot zone. S-rank in like 3 minutes.
