Chapter 2 padding is a bit of a miscommunication I think, though I'm not yet there myself. The impression I get is that like Peace Walker's padding you're expected to clear X amount of missions post original endgame to trigger the new endgame/chapter sequence. MGSV provides you with a number of "main episodes" to do this, but most (if not all) are recycled 'extreme' repeats of older missions. But you don't have to do them, and can instead opt to clear unresolved side ops. Regardless of which you chose, it's mostly about clearing enough missions after the first end to trigger the second one.

Correct?

Sounds about right. Just finished the true ending.

Also yeah, surprised people can the puppy. Mine appeared immediately at the start of episode 3 maybe right as I jumped from the helicopter. The game actually bugged out and spawned another one at the first objective. I extracted two puppies.

Liquid DD and Solid DD.

Forgot to post this shirt I got recently. Really like it ;)

From FOX, two D-Dogs were born.

Same here. A sandstorm started just as I landed and I still heard him rofl.

can d dog die? Wondering how careful i need to be on missions with him

He once wandered in front of my scope as I was pressing the trigger to shoot an enemy and he recovered just fine. There was a message that D-Dog was incapacitated or something; unfortunately, I can't remember if I had lethal or tranq rounds.

D-Dog is so good. Every other buddy has their strengths, but D-Dog reigns supreme.

Some questions about replaying levels;

1. Does fultoning soldiers/etc add up, in other words can you "farm" personnel and such by playing a mission over and over? And in that case, do you get 'duplicates' or are the soldiers randomly generated each time?

2. Do you need to get all objectives in one run or does it add up? So if I have 3 out of 7 in one run, and I replay and get the other 4, will I have 7/7 ?

How do you get around the map without d-horse? Vehicles? I don't have any yet so it seems a drag to run everywhere.. also d-horse is so awesome cause you can use him for stealthily getting past outposts and chase down vehicles.

DDOG customisation

Finally unlocked DDOG customisation and am allowed to change his colour, automatically picked orange, finally a hound fox can be proud of

*no spoilers*

You can either do the repeated difficulty missions OR you can do the side-ops. They both open on new "important" side-ops and missions. I'm using "important" in big sarcastic quotations because they're really flimsy excuses to get you to back to allll the big areas in the game to extract McGuffin #248. Go back to this camp and get this item, go back to the airport and get this, go back to the big house and get this, go back to the giant camp where you find
Emmerich
and grab this. I don't think there's been an original area yet. Bad enough the Chapter 1 Missions/Side-Ops cover a lot of the same ground as it is, Chapter 2 is not BUT retreading ground.

You can get copies of certain NPCs. Like I got two of the bionic arm scientists. Except the one I got the second time had worse stats. So when I replay missions where you kill a target I just kill them so they don't clog up my staff.

And yeah the objectives check off as you complete them. You can complete them piecemeal and don't have to get them all in one run.

*Send Quiet to scout an area*

Alright now that everyone's marked, cover me. We kill everyone.

*Sends Quiet to scout the next area, forgets to set her to cease fire*

Everyone's dead by the time I get there.

Btw the shield covers your back and by riding D-Walker with it makes you invincible.

I always forget to cease fire with the silenced tranq sniper and on multiple occassions have reached outposts entirely taken over as everyone is already passed out.

Awesome thanks!

Well I fixed the weird thing where any rewards, research progress, and stuff weren't storing all I had to do was reconnect but sadly that means like 8 or so missions worth of stuff is just gone for me.

Also makes me paranoid to play offline.

What are the down side that can happen by ignoring my FOB completely while online? If it gets attacked can I lose staff members?

I've tried to listen to the same cassette tape 3 times in a row and every time Ocelot and Miller interrupt and don't stop talking. It's usually stuff like "there's enemies in the area, watch out." And you'd think they'd end there, but then they wax philosophical about it for 30 seconds.

I wish there were some more cars littered throughout the world. I hate having to call d horse, extract him, and then call dd.

Plus, your helio should be able to move you around without going out of the map.

I have a question about a scene from one of the trailers. Going to spoiler it just in case.

How do you get the scene where it shows the soldier's fighting, and Venom is shown grabbing the soldier's hand with the knife and pulling it towards him?

I think I'd rather get blown up in a helicopter over the ocean by a vagina bomb and stay in a coma for 9 years then fucking play Mission 16 one more time. Oh my god this is the most unfun mission yet. Whoever designed the
Skulls
encounters needs to be imprisoned for war crimes.

YES I FINALLY EXTRACTED
THE MAN ON FIRE
*chapter 20 spoilers*
that boss fight was metal gear as fuck

How do you do it, I tried multiple times, but
Floating Psycho Mantis looking bloke kept popping the balloon, I couldn't work out how to stop him from doing it -- Oh, and can you replay the mission and do it?

First off, thanks for the puppy advice. Now I have him! :D Yet another question, though.

Is it possible to get any headgear for Snake? Like.. Iono, a
bandana
?

Just finished a mission where I got fucked up really bad, over and over and over I was on the brink of death but somehow managed to survive through all of it. Got back in the ACC and Snake has an IV hooked up to him, love the little details.

Yeah, this happened to me as well at some point. Didn't know if it was random or not.

I feel like that's not true? I've definitely gotten shot from the front while riding D-Walker, but maybe I just don't have enough armor on him.

Yeah, there's some small openings from what I've seen, and D-Walker itself isn't invulnerable to small arms fire, but functional invincibility sure is a nice dream.

I just can't justify taking that dumb shield along ever.

Is there a way to actually get the bandana in this game? My naked snake cosplay isn't complete without it.

Also, is there a way to neutralize the skulls without killing them? Both times I've fought them so far I've just blown them up, and I think they count as kills. They're pretty much my only kills so far aside from a few accidental ones (and a few from Quiet going nuts).
