The "classic" comment weren't the only thing that threw the leaks into question. Someone also said in an interview regarding Mika that she's the only wrestler in the cast, which makes both Zangief and Alex unlikely.

Combofiend never said Mika was the only grappler of SF5, he said she's the first real grappler in the game (as compared to Birdie and Necalli).
He also said she's similar to her SFA3 version, this is to say good normals but slow grabs. Which means we still dont have a full on grappler with 2 frame throws.

Honestly at this point, after T7's Shaheen, SF's arab can either be awesome or leave so much to be desired that he's disappointing.

...but SNK hasn't made me interested in Joe Higashi in ages, so if this new chara does a kickass hurricane/sand storm move I'll be all in.
 
Out of all the potential new characters, I've been most interested in seeing Rashid. I really want to see how Street Fighter's Arab character will look and play.

I'm thinking he will either be revealed at this event or teased at the end of the trailer like Necalli.

I mean imagine if today we got Cody or even Karin!
I've liked Ken and Claw's addition so so far anyone is fair game long as their gameplay looks nice.
 
I hope Rachid is Egyptian or a North African nomad or something.

I expect Dhalsim or Zangief next to Bison
Feilong near Cammy

For the final Alpha character I expect Karin.

That would be the full roster. However I reckon Capcom will shortly announced Urien as the day 1 character that can be unlocked with Fight money.
 
I think Laura is the new character who's exciting me the most. I''m also looking forward to Zen. Rachid can be hit or miss for me though. His design can make or break him and I hope he isn't overtly stereotypical.
 
I hope the new characters aren't stereotypical designs that just cynically pander to market demographics, like some of Tekken 7s originals.

Yeah I'm always excited to see more characters. One of my favorite things about SFV is how awesome all the character reveals have been. The trailers are hype and each new character brings something to new to the game. The V-System really goes a great job at making each character stand out.

But I'm much more interested in seeing new characters over returning ones..

At the same time you don't want them to be stereotypical you also don't want them to appear plain and betray the culture they're supposed to represent.
 
If you guys are gonna post Sean gifs, at least post gifs from before Ken decided to train him wrong as a joke

I'm with Siliconera: Alex, Urien (2 of the most popular of the fan favorite classic 3rd Strike that weren't in USFIV) and Karin would be the remaining returning chars.

My bet is that the initial 16 will have these groups:
6 chars from USFIV from SSFII
2 chars from SFIII that weren't in USFIV
4 chars from SFA3 that weren't in USFIV
4 chars brand new chars

So this would mean 6 chars that were in USFIV + 10 chars that weren't in USFIV. More than the half of initial roster wouldn't have appeared in the SFIV series to keep it fresh. So Dhalsim, Zangief, Fei and a big amount of SFIV characters would be rehased for SFV but as DLC.

I don't remember Ken being leaked or spoiled. I really wish it had been knowing Ken was in the game wasn't exactly as exciting as I was hoping the announcement was going to be.
 
yeah I really hope it's not some lame shit like cody

don't get me wrong. cody is cool and all but TOO MANY BLONDES

I want a new character or a third striker at the very least.
