So do the class items from the $20 collectors upgrade grant bonus exp to everything? Level, subclass, gear, etc? Do we know by how much?
I'm also getting TTK download code from a friends physical edition who doesn't need it. Will I still get the year 1 VIP rewards?

THE THIRST IS REAL.
Been a damn hectic week, getting my 34 Warlock main into shape for TTK.
"Sharded" my two alt warlocks, and got my new Titan up to 34 and cleared all of the year 1 (Vanilla, TDB, HoW) content. My new Hunter is now 26 and closing in on the end of HoW.
My body is ready.

You'll get the Year 1 rewards as long as you had a level 30 character or the expansions before Aug 31st.
You shouldn't have any trouble finding cool people to play with, on GAF or elsewhere.

You won't have a hard time finding people to run story missions with, strikes with, raids with, etc. DestinyGAF is the friendliest, most positive, and welcoming online gaming community I have ever been a part of and we are all glad to have more Guardians in the fight. Most gaffers are certainly from the PS4 version, right? I bought the XB1 version. Is there specific threads to different versions?

There are clans, but there's much of clan functionality in-game. The clan stuff is all on bungie's website. DestinyGaf and the bungie app forums are how you get people for raids and whatever else. Welcome to Destiny.
Yeah, it is very PS4 heavy, but there are a good many folks who have it on XB1 too...sometimes both! The Community thread, as fast as it is, works for both PS4 and XB1, so just specify your platform when you ask for help or just list your psn/gt in your GAF profile to make it easier.
Yup, loads, but you have to do it through Bungie's site. A lot of them are just open now and don't require any approval so maybe run with some folks first then consider joining a clan they are in.

I haven't played Destiny since the first expansion came out (I thought I had my fill after 200 hours and traded it in). I think I was level 29. Since I'm missing out on so many materials, weapons and armor how long would it take me to get my Titan where he needs to be? I would really like to get TTK but I dread grinding so much before getting to experience the new content.

Yeah you can still do that. Now nightfalls requires to be at level 40 and no longer will you be kicked to orbit if everyone wipes and the experience buff has been removed in exchange for more xp.
snipers were fun for me but that fusion rifle was awful

It technically releases on midnight but doesn't actually start for another 5 hours.
Got the Fusion Rifle done but the sniper is killing me. I'm not very good at Crucible anyway but I'm atrocious with snipers and it's not a good one.

No you don't. Everyone will receive a special consumable that will one time boost one character to level 25 and unlock the taken king quests.

I just booted it and this is what I get. It said I could download it in the store, but then it said it couldn't download it at this time. I don't know what's going on because this is what I get for my title screen.
Boot Destiny if you already have it purchased. Mine says "The Taken King".
It's not up to Sony. It's Bungies servers.
