Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Found something interesting in the Dreadnaught. Secrets abound

Found a path that led me to a locked chest, had to jump through a bunch of invisible platforms. From there I jumped to more platforms and reached another ledge where another treasure chest was. This was surrounded by Lv 38 "Blind Thralls" who i couldn't damage. The chest next to them said A Scent is the Key

I mean, I get what you're saying about the new armour. I'd be perfectly fine with it if the year 1 legendaries that I was gunning for before were still available, but they've all been replaced with year 2 equipment that I have no way of getting.
Taken King really is a soft reboot in a lot of ways, Bungie doesn't want the player base in vanilla

It's shitty, but this is their way of getting players to upgrade

Hmm, but you actually do have the ability to acquire legendary marks over time, don't you? The Crucible Daily, Daily Heroic, Weekly Heroics and Nightfalls should award them, and you can still receive occasional legendary marks from dismantling legendary drops. Your rate of acquisition will just be slower since you won't be able to do them when they're actually missions from the DLC you don't own. But the new vendor gear itself isn't actually locked off from you unless I'm misunderstanding something.
I got no marks from that.
The Crucible daily, whatever it is, should award you 15 marks (once a day).

Everyone "wants" the content. That's the point. This is stuff we should all get for being loyal customers and buying their "expansion" for $40. Saying "well.......... these couple things you will pay $20 for" is a dick move. Especially since entire games (sometimes even two games) would cost $20 these days.

Wanting something only makes sense in a market context when you consider both your expected utility (how much you want it) and the price. This is the same for any product or service.

You might look at a pair of shoes and think they look good. At $___ you buy them, but if they're $___ you don't. This is no different. In fact, you and a friend - both making the same salary - could look at the same shoes and agree that they look nice, while only one of the two thinks they're worth the price. This is because value is 100% subjective for absolutely every product and service that has ever existed.

You can't say that anything you don't like enough to pay the asking price for is the product of greed. It's just not for you. Somebody who expects more utility from it (in this case, who wants that shader more badly), or who values money less (by virtue of having more of it or spending it less strictly) is the intended audience.

Again this has been the case for years where Collectors edition content can be bought for extra if they want it.

There's nothing wrong with them doing it this way and you are overreacting.

I don't see how you can defend cheap overpriced toys and be so against this. Where's my physical Loyalty Coin for supporting this game for over a year? To each their own.

So uh is there anything that will explain everything to someone who has never played before? Or has the beginning of the game been tweaked so I know what the hell you guys are talking about after I play for a bit?

Probably a weird question but are the missions involves causes stash and the dreadnaught all part of the taken kings content? So they aren't available unless I own TTK?

Random question sorry if answered before I did not see.

For the Legendary Edition, is it a single code for all three DLCs? Or one for each expansion?

Thanks!

Hey guys - I'm looking to get back into Destiny again. I got it at launch, played my Warlock to level 12 but after that it ran a little flat for me, so I stopped.

Now the release of Taken King, it seems a LOT has changed. Could someone just answer a question for me. The Spark of Light - does that instantly get you into the new content without having to do all the original Destiny content?

Thanks!

Oh hey, look what came in the mail just perfectly for launch today!

Yes, level is the only barrier. The quest lines for the different expansions live separately.

Digital things do not have the same inherent value as physical. I don't need a lesson on supply and demand and markets, thanks. I took Econ too.

You can't resell digital, and it costs nothing to duplicate.

The game is friendlier then ever but it's still generally bad at explaining a lot of things. The best advice I can give is to ask questions here or in the Community OT and people will be happy to give you answers. There used to be some guides in the DGAF OT but I think they need to be updated given all of the changes. Just dive in and have fun and most of it should start to make sense!

Dreadnaught is part of Taken King. I'm not sure what the other thing is.

Has anyone tried using the Spark of Light on an already post-25lvl character? Is it really ONLY the level that changes for the character? That seems super shitty. Level 25 with only a grenade class skill...

You're not the only one ....

So hold the phone. That spark of light brought my third character from 2 to 25, but didn't level up the class abilities. I'm level 25 and don't even have a super.

I didn't defend any toys. I don't want any of that. Some do though and it's a thing they actually have in their hands. Digital is zero dollars to copy.

Why on earth wouldn't they be when they're on Vanilla missions? That's how it's worked for vanilla owners when each DLC came out, for owners of the first DLC when the second came out, people who only owned the second DLC, etc.
So maybe half of the time? Only one week a month if Bungie wants to be really shitty about it

The unfortunate truth is, you're better of buying TTK or not playing destiny at all
That's a completely different point, and now we're just talking about acquisition rates. It's genuine misinformation to say something "isn't available" if it actually is, even if you don't think it's worthwhile to play the game with options locked out.

The new cutscenes have so much more personality than the old game, it's great. Granted, it's all very much Marvel flick quip-a-minute humor, but that's a giant leap from what the game used to be.

Best moment so far is definitely the (minor cutscene spoilers)

Shipwright: Isn't that Eris Morn's ship?
[wide shot of very obviously Eris's ship]
Cayde: ...Hm

ahhhh dreadnaught patrol is so awesome

Did a patrol where i had to go kill Taken and halfway through it a giant Knight mini-boss appeared. Fucking awesome.
