Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Good luck, I was just gifted nice Scout Rifle by Dead Orbit.
I wonder what's the fastest way to get rep now, patrols still seem to give only a little so there must be something else.

Did you get to level 40?

First package just gave me a Legendary Auto Rifle that I cannot use until level 40... But the damage is 245... No idea if that is good or not... Also Dead Orbit is best fraction!

I did and had a code for the Suros DLC and a 30 day Plus subscription. I'll just look over everything when I get home before I start asking out.

EDIT: No, that's not right. The Suros DLC was on the receipt. I'm just gonna shut up until I get home. LOL

Holy stupid, all the DLC is one code. So it doesn't come with an upgrade. Its a vanilla Destiny disc inside a legendary case with a code for the CE. SMH, I already paid for it digital.

Yes and I'm light lvl 243

Should have a quest for it and you can retrieve the Artifact and your class shader in Tower after you hit 40/finish the story.
As far as I know.

I like the voice actor for the Dead Orbit guy so I agree, DO is best. I'm gunning for that Darth Suros Regime myself, it looks really nice in black. Auto Rifles are great if the stability doesn't jump all over the target in my opinion, I had some during my exping that were just impossible to get crits with.

Ok so I'm level 30 and didn't play much of the DLC's. What should I be doing to get my level up. Anyone have a TTK guide link?

Has anyone poked through the old story missions? Are they largely unchanged or did they revise them enough to at least be entertaining for a replay?

Started a fresh character (after not playing since March) to see if the "questification" made a meaningful impact to the story.

So far I've played through a few moon quests.

TBH the quests don't seem to add much. You're basically going on a mission, then running back to the tower to talk to someone, just like before. Now you have a quest log and a few additional lines of text to connect the story beats, but nothing substantial.

However, they seemed to have worked in the previous expansion's content into the story. For example: after the first moon quest you can talk to Eris and she opens up the first Dark Below quest--which can be done at lvl 11 or 12ish.

Curious to see when the Reef will open up.

Trying hard to fight off my inner cynic who wonders if this was how the "original" story was supposed to go. ;)

Just jump in and pick some quests to run. At your current level, you can do the quest lines from the prior two expansions, and / or dive right into the Taken King missions. Folks can help you out with economy changes and such but the game is pretty good now at announcing loud and clear what your options are.

Personally, I'd do the Dark Below and House of Wolves missions, then move onto the Taken King. You can pick up the first two from the Vanguard, and TTK by running the first mission for it on Mars.

You level from 1-40 based on XP now, and gear progression is greatly smoothed out.

Fill your inventory with bountys make sure you join a faction have fun! Best way to play IMO is to do a bit of everything pvp/pve/raid/poe.

Pretty good day. Got the New Monarchy HC and Sniper, got the Crucible MG, got the New Monarchy helmet, got Vanguard gloves, and then finally got a 250 light Crucible cloak. Despite looking like a freak right now I'm around 240 light, which is good but the new systems don't let you be nearly as overpowered as you used to be so it's not as big as a deal as it would have been in the past.

Also got a NM shader immediately and Hawkmoon was in my veteran engram.

As a hunter, there's a quest in which you have to max out your Bladedancer class. I'm already maxed out, but it still shows as incomplete.

Any ideas?

Really pleased with the story so far, this is what it should've been like to begin with. I actually feel like there is some form of character development and personality.

Can anyone comment on whether or not the Physical Collectors Edition also comes with a full game download code, in addition to the physical disk? I saw over on Reddit someone saying they thought it might..

I would love to go full digital edition so I don't have to have disk in, but man do I want those physical goodies...

BTW, I do have the physical collectors edition pre-ordered at GameStop online, but I'm not sure if I really want to wait for their snail shipping to do it's thing... Hasn't even shipped yet..

I'm enjoying what I've been playing. Lots more to do besides roaming around and walking up hills.

I like the missions more now than before. I still have to do the Expansion Pass missions like House of Wolves and so forth. I had done maybe 1 or 2 before I put it down. I spent $90 at first. Light levels were a pain to deal with. I hated having to grind for gear with Light just to level. I stopped a few months ago at level 24. I wasn't getting anywhere and I didn't feel like doing the story again and again.

I turned this on today and went from a 24 to a 30! The cutscenes are better than before with this expansion. I wouldn't mind replaying the entire thing with the new subclass. I wish they would have added this content sooner. I kinda dread completing this and having nothing more to hold onto.

I saw no reason to talk to NPC's or pay any attention at all. I just skip what they have to say. That was then and I'm kinda still doing that, but I'm reading what they're giving me or what they have.

It was dull at the beginning because I didn't care about the bounties or the other stuff. Now I'm looking for missions and hoping to get better loot.

I like it more now than before. I would like them to open up the world with changes in various places earlier on or maybe new spawns for the same enemies.

The Taken King missions have been fun, they're new, and I'm looking forward to what I think is the last mission. I'm not entirely sure.

I guess I saw no reason to play before this expansion. Now I'm at a level 30 and I didn't have to spend 10 to 30 hours doing the same things over and over again.

I'd say now is a good time to get the game if you haven't. I think there's a good selection of enemies and there's quite a bit of new stuff to do. I think Bungie really didn't have a lot on Destiny's plate at first. Sure it was a large setting, but they did not give you a lot to go and do. That's my take from it. There was nothing about the missions (before TTK) that made me want to replay them and now there might me.

One good thing and also a bad thing about Bungie is that they make these lush worlds and they're great to explore, but they really leave you begging for more.

The levels are huge, but you fight the enemies and leave. You have no real push besides shooting down enemies because of their loot system. There's also no way to tell that you're going to get something unique unless you finish the mission or it just drops.

I think they made the whole "Wizard on the Moon" a bit more relaxed than it could have been. TTK is what Destiny could have been back when it launched. I've spent over $130 now and I'm getting content that makes it feel like a $60 game. They might want to get off the casual train and get on board with the crack type of game.

I wouldn't say it's GOAT, but it's a good push to get people on board. It just didn't go overboard in my books. TTK is fantastic, but it's like I'm also dealing with baby's first FPS again.

does the $40 version include expansion 1 and 2? or only the taken king?

Just the newest bit.

I got it today and when logged in on another xbox it shows where I can buy it again but wont let me enter my code again as its been redeemed on my home xbox. Don't get it but xbox chat told me its an issue. Also refunded me since I got the disc and it came with an expansion that I almost never touched so I got that going for me.

Any one else having issues with it not letting you in after you redeemed the code?

Another question is that the disc is just the normal disc by appearance. No Legendary markings or anything. So the trade in is $40 at hastings. If I go trade it there is no way to verify that the code is any good so they are just shitting me $40 for the base game it seems.
