Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

After playing all day, I have to say that, for a game which did so much wrong in the first year, the changes they have made for the second year are damn near amazing. This used to be a game I hate played. Not anymore...

high blues are good for infusion on better gear you want to level up

Hmm guess I got to read about infusion. Already started sharding a few things to make space.

Played a bunch of story to open of dreadnaught... So far so good! Definitely looks like there is a full game of content here, especially if you have 3 characters like me. Can't wait to see all the new subclasses! Gotta admit it was nice to play a night of destiny and not even look at any of the new content. Started the story missions with good ole ldr and hawk moon, and gotta say they did a pretty good job motivating you to use new weaponry. When new drops give you more light immediately, those old weapons are dropped right away ha

Any heads up on what you are able to do with all the sapphire wire? It looks like armor turns into armor pieces now and don't see what to do right away with all the old materials

i like how you brushed over most of the stuff and the things you do the excuse is that "who cares, if you've beein doing this same shit since the beginning you'd know this already" I didn't actually brush over, I made a logical argument. For the points where I didn't reply it was because it was a repeat of a point you already wrote. When you are playing the game for more than an hour you will see to it why it is the way it is there is no other way to put it down

and yeah ive only seen the rank up announcement 3 times up to rank 6 before stopping while playing the open world en-route to mission battles that finally lock people out, so yeah, it totally doesnt matter, those numbers flying out of those characters are meaningless, but thanks random level 40 fucker who comes by an kills everyone in 1 shot, you have fun with that You have absolutely no grounds to make any argument in the game because the equivalent of this in a game like Mass effect would be to play halfway through the prologue mission and tell everyone how you barely have any abilities and no weapons...because that's what you are doing. By the way if you are in an area with enemies that you cannot kill...maybe it means you shouldn't be there yet? It's not rocket science to realise where you are going in this game if you have issues with it then you simply have gotten used to being spoon fed with a marker on where to go with an arrow pointing towards it. I cannot possibly imagine how anyone can be familiar with video games and have trouble figuring out where to go in this game.

also, was that "if i give them more money to unlock better missions in their DLC, or grind to level 40 to reach better missions...which is just a raid which you can end up with literally nothing for it" supposed to be a burn or something? Perhaps you know...the game is about end game content ? Like the MMO it takes its model from?

raids, which dont unlock till level 40 "are when the fun starts" wut? do you even know what you are talking about? How am I suppose to take your arguments seriously if you are to make stupid comments like this?

literally the same exact arguments prior to this patch that people were saying, "oh once you unlock the raids or later rank stuff THEN it gets good"
It's literally the exact same argument because you are making the same complaints while being at the same point in the game, ofcourse the argument is going to be the same because your position is the same !!

Speaking of brushing up, I like how YOU brush up over what I said about how you are incorrect on so many occasions (calling out on the game for its slow ADS, gear variety " until you hit 40" etc) and instead accuse me of bushing through your post. Nice try really.

Question that I'm sure has been asked multiple times.

I own a copy of Destiny that came with my PS4. I didn't beat it though. Is the Legendary Edition worth it for the extra 20 dollars to get the 2 DLC's, or should I just pay $40 for TTK?

Well you need the dlc to play TTK..so you don't really have a choice if you want to play destiny :)

Well, because that's when it gets good really. And you earlier compared it to COD, please don't. Leveling up to the max level means nothing just how getting to 20 meant nothing in the original game. People that review or comment need to understand the meaning of endgame. It's not the basic experience where seeing one zone and enemy type once and getting to the max level means you really achieved anything. You pretty much got an idea of what's going on in the world and are ready to become someone.

Ok so I'm a day 1 adopter on the vanilla game and on all DLC so far.
Yesterday I played 11 hours straight and I can't really remember when any game made me do this in the last year except for the original Destiny. The additions to the story, gameplay and overall experience are incredible. The new strikes have some interesting boss fights. Imo the strike they showcased in the pre launch stream is the weakest so far. If we continue to see this kind of progress onward, we will have some sweet time until 2024 ^^

I finished the Taken King storyline, got into some alternative quests that rewarded Legendary marks and now sitting at 128 Marks in my bank, waiting for Xur on friday and 249 light from pickups and rewards. Can't wait to jump in today to finish some of the new stuff and further explore the Dreadnaught. Love how they made chests a bit more tricky.

Just imagine if they made the raid just as good as the story so far!

The overwhelmingly positive sentiment here does seem to hide the obvious issues with the game which will likely never be addressed. However, the latest version is without a doubt marginally more enjoyable than the initial release. I've only really jumped back in because a few friends effectively paid for me to join them but i'm taking it slow this time and just going along for the ride.

The 'hype' is definitely exaggerated though but i suppose people just have/had really really low expectations given what has come before

Disagree. All the content and presentation is significantly superior to previous release. At the end of the day it's still destiny, so I don't see how this was overhyped. Nobody every suggested it was anything more than it was, just that quests and drops are better and there is lots more to see and do.

The beauty of this game is the feeling of maintaining your character throughout all the change. I feel like this is just the next chapter in the characters I have been building up, much like mass effect when you import in your character.

Sooo... to those who've been playing it, would you say the game is worth the price of admission to someone who hasn't played Destiny yet? Is there enough worthwhile story and solo content?

60$ is a good deal for new adopters. I'm at 200 EUR so far since I went with both physical collector's so far and money per hour will be pretty much the lowest on your list if you get hooked on it.
Solo and story aren't really its strong points, but if you do not have online buddies, destiny and GAF are good places to make some.

I just wish my characters weren't doomed to never change their hairstyles for 10 years =p

Even if it's only visible in noncombat areas lol.

Honestly I would not recommend Destiny for anyone if they don't at least have an intereset in playing with other people.

Running around and grinding things in order to get gear, quickly becomes boring if you don't intend to use that gear to do end game activities with other players.

So yesterday I went in with my secondary character, a Titan, leveled him up to 40, tried out sunbreaker in PVP, very cool. I've been playing titan exclusively since the patch.

But My hunter, my Alpha Hunter, I missed him so much. I realized that my friends were all warlocks now, and they hate sunsinger, so I went and fetched him, and I felt right at home. It's what I know since before day 1.

I'm enjoying nightstalker so far, it feels awesome in pve. Got him to 40 too, finished the main TTK campaign and managed to get 79 legendary marks, bought myself an awesome legendary cloak from the speaker, that is white and purple and is awesome with the nebula glow shader, and full length (I HATE MID LENGTH CLOAKS) .

Year 2 hunter here. And a proud one at that.

Cayde said:
What does it mean to be a hunter? I'd say its all about where you belong.

The Warlocks have their libraries, Titans have their walls... But hunters belong in the wilds... out there, you wanna live? You better have a quick shot or a sharp blade.

Lot of us are loners, but thats not the only path, some of us know the difference a fire team makes. Some of us, we touch the void, make it a part of us. And then we take a name, Nightstalker.

Hunt from the shadows, pin them down, never let them see you coming...

Man, what the fuck was up with that one story quest on Phobos. I had to get help and even then we had to kill the dude fast enough before he basically wiped us. Hardest Destiny boss so far for being a douche.

Loved my first day with TTK. I just can't believe how many quest related bugs Bungie allowed through test. The ones I'm seeing are obvious errors that can't be missed. The latest one being that there's no notification to turn in the legendary sword quest. I got all the materials required and the quest said I was still incomplete. Fortunately I went to the original quest giver anyway and he completed the quest for me.

So are there still weekly currency caps?

Nope.

There is a 200 Legendary Mark limit per acc - per week

So is there any point keeping year 1 legendaries and exotics ? I'm confused with the guns . Basically all the greens I'm finding are better stats , even my obsidian mind helmet seems less the. A Standered green. Do I efextively just start over with armour/ weapons .

Also am I wrong in that the defense stat is no different then the way light worked previously ? U are still constantly swapping out weapons armour to give you a better defense rating.

the court of orix or whatever it's called is a good way to play with others easily, kind of a shame that it's in the heart of the ship though and you have to run there to check if it's busy or not.

it's a step in the right direction for big boss battles with 6 people without the need of matchmaking though, really well done.

That was pre-TTK. Now you can get as many as you want, but it caps at 200. So you need to spend them. As mentioned, the amount of activities may be capped though. I'm not sure if you can run endless hard mode strikes though.

You can only hold 200 at once, there is no cap of how many you can get per week.

(well there's a limited number of activities, but it's still more than 200)

I did not say this. =)

If you like using them, they're still good for Crucible. Otherwise I don't see much of a use for them. I ended up sticking all of my favorite guns in the vault pretty early today. The guys raising my light level aren't ones I'd ever choose to use, but they're the best I've got right now. Except the sword, which I've already grown in power twice. I'm liking that weapon.

I think if you just do your daily mission/crucible you get 210... Which adding to the 3 Heroic missions gets you a total of 240 per week not including dismantling legendary gear nor some quest rewards.

Out of curiosity anyone with family/kids playing this and how is it working out for you? Been thinking about getting a console for awhile for some laid-back gaming. I'm also very interested in this game but a bit afraid that it might become addicting. I did hear that strikes and stuff only takes like 15-20 minutes which is nice.

I game on my Pc atm but it's better for days when you are alone or the baby is sleeping.

Hello all, had destiny for a while to play with a mate but he's sold his PS4 now.

Would anyone like to help me play through this game, do strike missions and raids? I know its a big ask but any help would be great. I'm level 25 as I got TTK but the missions I am doing are level 10s.

Add me on PSN please: Vix79

Anyone else disappointed with the new Hunter subclass? Thought it was going to be far cooler than it actually is. The anchors are neat but the grenades and smoke, eh. Smoke especially is pretty disappointing.

I'm loving the anchors.

Smoke grenade is meh, I'm with you on that. But otherwise I think it's an awesome subclass. Not as flashy as the other new ones though, but we already had bladedancer.

Yeah I guess I was just hoping for way more utility from that smoke. Maybe that wouldn't balance too great considering another support class like Titan Defender only has the super as the real support.

Stupid question, but how does the infusing work exactly?

If item has perk called "Infuse" with e.g. defence 200 and you get item with 250 defence, but like looks and/or stats on 200 one more. This means you take both of these items, use Infuse perk in 200 item to take 250's defence value and use it to increase 200 items defence value. 250 defence item is lost in process.

Take it too vanguard quartermaster by ship vendor. You can trade it for rep towards faction or for the new armor mats.

The poison smoke grenade is great though, and the invisibility even if it's short can be a life saver.

In any case, I'm loving the super.

Think of it as a static Stormcaller/sunbreaker. You throw the arrow and the arrow tethers and damges for a similar period of time, then you lay waste to all those mobs, I think it can be as useful as a Defender Titan or more in pve.

And you get buffed too!

I can see nightstalker being awesome in pvp too since the bow also shuts down supers.

I was really "unhappy" with the subclass once I saw the new subcalsses for warlock and titan, tried out sunbreaker and it feels awesome, but Nightstalker is really growing on me. I just can't leave my hunter behind, its the class I played exclusively from the alpha and it just feels wrong.

I'll even say more. The new subclasses for Titan and Warlock kinda make me feel like they rendered previous dps classes useless. Its just a feeling though, mind you, but why would a Titan want to use Striker when you can be Sunbreaker which is basicly way better, is it not?

Maybe a warlock would still find use for the voidwalker nuke, but I think Hunter has better differenciated subclasses if you know what I mean. I can see myself using blade dancer and gunslinger, even If I don't really like gunslinger that much.

amazing expansion! really loving it. good stuff B!

Okay so I am competely confused by the Dreadnaught and it feels so mmo endgamish. I have no idea what's going on and I put 1000 hours into destiny. What is this?

I don't think it's a direct defense or attack swap, it's like going +1 or +2 on your gear.

I've seen people find a legendary gun with a nice setup but with only 250 attack, a few blues of higher attack power can bump it up to say 288 and make it a worthwhile weapon.

It's destination with quite many hidden areas, specials events that give you special tasks etc. Is it grindy? I wouldn't say so, but it's a lot deeper and involving zone than others thanks to all stuff waiting to be figured out. Layout is confusing as fuck first, but you get familiar with it after little while.

It's not direct import of power, no. Infusion does some maths with percentages from both items values and combines them, don't ask me how. Just keep in mind that 200 items is very unlikely to turn into 250 one when infused with 250 item.

Played with friends for 7 hours straight yesterday and man am I loving this expansion. The encounters with enemies, the level design (more verticality and jumping "puzzles"), the storytelling is just... better!

Can't wait to jump right back in :)

LMAO 24 hours in, not done with story missions yet. Haven't even done a strike. Fuck me this game is amazing and almost too good now...

Does anyone know how to obtain these weekly crucible bounties that offer "nightfall tier" gear?

I read about it during the build up from Bungie; but nothing seems to present itself post patch and TTK release. : (

If it's the one I worked on for hours, it's fucking long.
