Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Hot fuck the Monte Carlo might be my new favorite exotic. You Playstation peeps have had something this good for so long and I rarely heard it mentioned!

Monte Carlo + Claws of Ahamkara + increased Thunderstrike range + Feedback = unlimited lightning snaps. It's ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous, I say!

It was only recently made better with the 2.0 patch, that's why it was never really talked about.

Smh. For the people that didn't buy this, we're forced to play a new combined Control/Clash playlist. No Control only playlist like I paid for.

They put playlists for vanilla players together to keep the (now small) community from splitting up between playlists and to keep matchmaking times low.

Okay really big spoilers for what happens in end game

you get heroic version of the story missions that has an alternate ending, new area and such. omfg this game is amazing

EDIT: This game, even from a solo perspective, is so freaking huge anyone who says 4-5 hours of content is either a damned liar or really stupid. This might be the best add-on I've ever paid for.

I was lucky enough to get lvl 40 gauntlets from the beginning of my TTK campaign, and after the story missions were all said and done... I now have 14 gauntlet engrams, and a handful of others mixed up. Because I need more gauntlets, game. Thanks.

Also my first Exotic drop was a dupe (Ice Breaker). Their drop/roll system still sucks.

I wonder if the taken king justifies my second purchase of the same game I bought last year. Would it be wise to get TTK?

I absolutely love the polish of its gunplay and UI. The story however, took a back seat. Wonder if the story is more cohesive and well-explained in TTK...

Alternate ending?!?! Unexpected but awesome O_O

I mean for the story mission itself, it was really surprising when it happened. not an alternate ending to the campaign, sadly. Sorry if my hype painted that a little differently

Just...one...strike...before...uni

I really hope that eventually you are able to actually knock out these quests and they don't repeat weekly or anything. It's amazing that TTK really introduces you to end game, and the nightfall feels like it is barely end game.

Oh, that's true. Well... It sure does rip now! Glad to see it's a year 2 exotic.

I love it so far. It's way worth the $40 price tag.

I got the Limited Edition PS4 bundle because I wanted to jump in a Destiny with access to most of the content. I didn't realize that the initial download would be so big. lol thank goodness I can distract myself with work during the day. Mildly jealous of all the people already playing, lol.

I just purchased the Legendary Edition and am starting from the beginning. If anyone is at a similar point and on Xbox One, add me at chadbats.

Great game so far!

Man, it's so weird after vanilla Destiny to crawl into some cave passage on Dreadnought and actually find something hidden there to scan.

I love finding those little tunnels!

Xbone player here. I'll add you. My GT is Wesley S Shark. I have three high level characters but I'm happy to help or give advice in party chat if needed. 👍

But that slot was just meant to be a method of expression. Making it actual gear will minimize the variety rather than encourage it.

With the way things are, you can infuse your new favourite capes.

EDIT: Field test weapons are daily and not weekly like I thought? FFFFFFFFUCK THAT

How does this "infusion" system work anyways? I want to come back in a few weeks but don't know anything about the endgame progression. Is it possible to get max Light stats without ever touching the raid?

[Apologies if already covered]

I just traded my vanilla game for the legendary edition. I haven't played in a LONG time.

So now I have
- The Dark Below
- House of Wolves
- The Taken King

Should I play those in order? is it required? does it matter? How do I even know where to find the content of which DLC?

Ghost mechanic spoiler
And how when you pull out the ghost it reveals invisible platforms

I was blown away by how Bungie actually made the Ghost relevant now. Before it was just a menu of sort that you pull out to summon sparrow or go back to Orbit.

I only did the story part up to the Nathan Fillion part and can already tell it's infinitely better from a story telling perspective. THIS is what I expected with vanilla Destiny, so good. And Nathan Fillion is the fucking man.

Between this and Halo 5, it's the Year of the Fillion.

When did you buy the game?
Ah, this explains why I finally received a Hawkmoon!

*sheds a joyful tear*
Tell me about it, I accidentally deleted my hawkmoon originally before the 'lock' feature was added (press down r3 on gear/weapon)

I locked this one immediately

So I haven't played Destiny in almost a year. I wasn't too much of a fan when I was playing but I rebought a PS4 with the Taken King bundle (only one available). I've heard Destiny has greatly improved. Is this true?

I'd probably be bummed out as well, but it's for the best. For you. To keep fragmentation low among the ever dwindling community which does not have the DLC (where inactivity compensates for the large initial install base), playlists were condensed so you can find people to play with more easily. To prevent any issues, you have access to all Vanilla+TDB+HoW maps. This means everybody who doesn't own TTK is pooled together regardless of what they bought or didn't, and in combined playlists so matchmaking goes more smoothly.

Consider your alternative: having every mode and it taking longer and longer to find a match every day.

Well, at least now you could buy a new one via the kiosk if you dismantled it, too =p

the crap load of quests they throw at you is kinda overwhelming. I just finished the abridged version of the main plot and the two expansions and got to lvl 40 and I still have 6 quests. I haven't even started the taken king beyond the opening mission.

also kinda annoyed at the high requirement for the daily and weekly and that there is no intermediary between the legacy and heroic playlists.
Yup, it sucks that there's no intermediary between the playlist. I understand when it comes to nightfall, but they didn't have to do it for the daily and weekly.

So i'm just popping in here after reading another thread on another site, is it wrong for me to go to best buy, buy the game with GCU for $48, go to my car, take the code out, go back inside and get $35 in game credit ... and use code at home or on the ps app? Since I have the digital version at home.

yeah, discovered that last night, not happy at all. And there's TTK shit plastered all over. Took a mission from someone at the Tower to find out I don't have the DLC for it. Fine, make your DLC Bungie but don't make it seem like I live in a walled off universe.

Guys is there a way to get another one of those level 25 gems. I don't want to level up a Warlock...

Not as far as we know. Only one per account.

Well, it's either they segregate the game worlds or they do the best they can to merge everyone that has the current content and the older content. Segregation is never a good idea.

That's a trashy thing to do. Hopefully it wouldn't work.

Anyone on Xbox One in the 240 light range available to help me with yesterday's daily heroic mission (Oryx)? I really wanted the 10 legendary marks so I started it up solo before it switched and uhhh, I've gotten 99% plus through the last fight but I can't quite make it, and the checkpoint kind of screws you.

Granted a lot of the deaths are idling deaths... but a lot aren't. I bit off more than I can chew. Send halp!

My friend is looking to jump into Destiny for the first time. If he wants to get The Taken King (PS4), is the best deal to just buy the game at $60, or is there something else floating around?

Wow, it took me 2 hours to level from 34 to 40. Was it supposed to be that easy. Still only got my light to 197, so I gotta see how I can raise it to 240 at least for the heroic strikes.

How hard is it to get legendary marks? It seems they restricted that a ton and now its an even greater grind to get gear with marks. BS if so, shame on you Bungie, you fix some things, and then slow the end game to oblivion.

If he's never played it and doesn't have the expansions, yeah, the $60 set is the best deal. You get the game disc and all 3 dlcs.

Not sure what to do with my legendary marks. I currently have 75.. What's my best plan of action? Im tempted to buy a legendary chest enfram for 60 in the hopes of getting an exotic.. Hmm.

I hit 40 and got over 220 light last night. My 2nd rift at 40 landed me a legendary chest, which is nice, even though I can't manage to be on the winning team for a rift of my life depended on it.

I really like how after you beat the final primary story mission, instead of feeling like you are done, a ton of new shit opens up for you to do. Now I just need to figure out the layout of the Dreadnaught so I can farm up those 25 mats for the first sword quest...
