Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

After playing all 3 new subclass intros, Titans really got fucked lol. Easily the worst quest line to gain the new subclass and that hammer throwing mechanic is so lame in comparison to the others. Great damage, yeah...but man does it look and feel super mediocre. Kinda shocked they couldn't come up with something better.

Need to finish taken king
regicide quest
and than..finish the old story quest and start old raids and stuff

Will play the whole day tomorrow..if some of you want to join me PSN: eagel

More borderlands/diablo

Is there any interest on doing those quest, raids and strikes? I mean, the old strikes and stuff rewards with new guns and equipment? :)

So what is Xur selling?

Heavy weapon engram

An Insurmountable Skullfort (Titan helm)
Young Ahamkara's Spine (Hunter arms)
The impossible Machines (Warlock arms)

And a new item in curios called "Three of coins" stackable consumable that increases the chances the next ultra you defeat will drop an Exotic Engram. Costs 7 coins.

So I'm playing for the first time mostly by my own and I'm hopelessly overleveled for the missions, lvl 19 with 102 light getting offered lvl 14 missions
Should I just try the impossible ones or are those totally insane?

Edit: okay I bought the Gauntlets for my Hunter, more useful ^_^/ yay my first exotic.

Doesn't seem worth the $40 imo. I got the legendary edition for $48 and, having played vanilla Destiny but not the DLCs, it feels on sparse on content as it was before. The main campaign is way to short. I think I beat it in a little over 4 hours. Should have been at least a few more hours. They do a good job of reducing the amount of go here and scan then fight three waves of enemies formula and mix things up a bit. Remains visually interesting and Fillion Hunterbot is fun. Feels like it should have been a $20 expansion.

That said all the previous rules apply: basic gameplay is still fun and Bungie/Activision have clearly put a system into place where you either continue to pay their occasional upgrade fees or stop playing.

I'm not sure you should be the one answering his/her question. Not trying to be rude. But you are saying there isn't very much content here and that it should be 2 hours longer.
That is a ridiculous comment and so incredibly wrong.
I don't know what game you are playing.
I have put in over 30 hours into TTK so far and I have multiple quests still untouched. Multiple means 4-6 complete quest lines I haven't even touched.
On Tuesday I played the campaign missions solo and chose the highest difficultly for the final mission to give myself a greater challenge (and I wanted the marks due to it being the daily mission). I ran some patrols for Petra and Variks and was able to get enough drops to get me to 242 light in my first day so I could attack that final Oryx mission.
Wednesday I switched characters and got the new sub class missions complete for my other two characters and did a couple of missions each.
Today I switched back to my main and focused on quests and strikes and was able to get myself up over 270 light and now I'm hoping that Xur brings something I can use that can push me near 300 light so I can be more useful in the raid tomorrow.

So 4 hour campaign that isn't worth $40?
Really?

Oh wow I just realized there is no garanteed 3 weekly heroics for 27 strange coins anymore, maybe I shouldn't blow all my coins on engrams.

I got about 50-100 this week alone from just doing things, so while there's no guaranteed source anymore, they're not exactly in short supply.

So unfair that xur is selling the new exotic for warlock and not for the other two classes. Sigh.

I'll try and get a graviton forfeit from the helm engram.

Right beware you can pull year one exotics from the engrams from xur, I've just wasted 31 coins on a heavy weapon engram and pulled a year one gally that's worthless at maxed out 170.

Legacy Engrams decrypt into Y1 exotics. This week's LE is for Y1 (170) Heavy Weapons.

That's a Legacy Engram, they mentioned those will only have year 1 stuff... :p

Those are legacy and will be only year 1. So don't spend it on them.

Weapon engram is a guaranteed Year 1 weapon. It was not your bad luck.

Can I dismantle new Rare items? or could I need them for anything in the future?
If they're lower than your equipped item go ahead and dismantle. That's what I'm doing but I'm keeping some of them to give to my other characters once I start leveling them up.

Can anyone elaborate how the Three of Coins work? Does the effect last 'till you get an exotic? Does using multiple give you a quicker/higher change for an exotic engram?

i do believe the chance of getting an exotic goes up with every boss you kill that doesn't result in such a drop.
Which would make it seem that the effect does not last beyond the first drop of an exotic.

No idea if it's not time-capped to not last until you get at least one, though.

tl;dr: i'm writing a lot and i don't know shit, apparently :(

Just getting back into destiny, and never played the expansions. Where should I begin? Is there any particular order to play the Story missions in?

I've been playing the vanilla game + 2 add ons on and off since launch and I've just booted it up with TTK downloaded and in the quests tab I have what is basically "do the story" of vanilla game, "talk to the speaker" and another quest to "reach level 30"... I'm level 34 and have played through the story multiple times and when I talk to the speaker it just brings up his inventory

Are those quests glitched for me?

Also just wasted 31 coins on a year one heavy. Ah well, that'll teach me to read descriptions. Still got a new helmet for my hunter and gauntlets for my warlock, so could be worse. 31 coins for a useless weapon is kind of taking the piss mind.

If I'm not equipped to offer an opinion on the game because I'm critical of it (while still playing it) then neither are you because you're so clearly invested in the game that you're not going to see nor admit to any faults. I absolutely feel the campaign missions are too little and too short for the asking price. There is virtually no build up to the menace of the big bad of the expansion. You see maybe two instances of him fucking factions up, there is no sense that he is this inexorable, crushing villain. Instead you wreck his shit in a handful of hours. A few more missions to highlight why he's a threat would have been nice. As it stands it's over in the blink of an eye. I remember the vanilla Destiny campaign being longer and that cost $60 compared to the $40 for this.

Yeah I'm likely going to get a bit more out of it because I enjoy the multiplayer versus with friends but going back to the grind doesn't interest nor seem like meaningful content to me. Post campaign content that asks me to go do crucible matches or run generic patrols isn't a meaningful continuation of the story. Quests that ask me to create orbs of light aren't meaningful content.
