These are from the Steam page, official screenshots the game is being advertised with:
A quick tl;dr of the problems with it

  • No resolutions above 2560x1600
  • Textures, models, lighting worse than current gen
  • Port of the PS3/360 version
  • Using PS4 screenshots to advertise the game on the store page
  • Only 3 graphics options (low/medium/high)
  • Rosters are only partially updated
  • Dynamic weather works for some players, doesn't for others? (no official confirmation)
  • Demo was never released despite being announced
  • More, not sure what else to list yet

There's an OT for PES 2016, but I figured I'd make a separate thread to talk about the PC port... Ahem, quality. So disappointing to get this port out of Konami after a wonderful MGSV port, especially considering they both use the same engine.

At least they're charging the same as the last gen versions for it! :^)

Searched threads with PES in the title, found nothing. Red card if old.

So the reasoning behind this is because a lot of people playing it are still on shit PCs, which is the same reasoning EA did when they didn't give the PC the 360/PS3 version of FIFA for years.

Now they switch roles and FIFA was updated within a year and we're still waiting on PES.

When you look at the min specs for PES 2016, there is some truth to this since it'll even run on an 8800 and a GTX 260 is recommended. But it's still bullshit. The textures and that are all available from the PS4/XB1 versions and every versions runs the same engine, so why not give a graphics pack for those that can run it?

Why would anyone buy this shit, there were warning signs all over the place:
Konami
That crazy ass dude Bhatti
Previous PC PES
Announcement of hybrid version aka PS3 port with maybe some PS4 features throw in for shit and giggles
Well at least now you can get your money back, seriously fuck Konami.

Considering how well Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes scale, there's no reason the current gen versions of PES, a fucking soccer game, would have any issues scaling down even more with a competent port. MGSV is open world, even, and still knocks the socks off PES on the port front.

We're talking about the pc version of the game. The pc version of the game is the same gameplay-wise. I think that's important for someone.

And I think it's also important to note that the PC version look like crap, has limited graphics options and is being sold at £40. And the demo that was promised for launch day is nowhere to be seen.

I usually end up getting PC versions of football games because the loading times are always much faster. Small graphical details don't really bother me because you spend 99% of the time in the wide view.

I dunno, I think the PC crowd has a really nice water colour style to it, I think its a far nicer touch aesthetically.

i'm ok with what you think is important to say.

Even MGS doesn't go down as low as PES though. An Nvidia 8800 vs a GTX 650 just for minimum, and a 260 vs a 760 for the recommended.

I'm not saying they're right and they could easily provide a texture pack, but the specs are much lower for PES and they apparently want to keep it that way. With Steam Refunds and those shitty reviews though, I doubt they'll be aiming at the low end for long unless they really have a ton of data to say a lot of underpowered machines are playing this.

MGSV is a much larger undertaking for a system, though.

And they have it running at a fairly stable 30fps on PS3 and 360 anyways

I'm sure a soccer game from current gen could still scale better than MGSV with a competent port.

Easily, if they put in the effort. If they still wanted to keep it low, they'd just need to do the texture pack that so many games have done and the rest is just in-engine toggles.

But it's Konami, so they'll just keep on doing this while low end buyers are picking the game up still while being completely oblivious that just by adding a few options, they could get that higher end PC crowd too. You know, the crowd with some disposable income and have paid top dollar to have their games looking as nice as humanly possible.

Steam really needs to crack down on developers just "happening" to use screenshots from other versions that paint the game in a better light.

Im pretty disappointed though if I can get it on sale I'll still pick it up. It's RM220 in Malaysia but I can get it on kinguin for 30 euro which is about RM140.

Aside from that konami has always kinda fucked us over. There was no PES2015 in Malaysia, even tho the preorder page was up for 2 or 3 days and then taken down. There's also no MGS rising either.

As for the downgrade, its a barebones port with minimum expense and hopefully as long as the features and gameplay are in that'll be good enough for me. The PS4 version looks pretty good though.

Also it really annoys me how there is no Bundesliga league, not even the fake ones.. I'm pretty sure there wasn't any in 2015. Hopefully it can be added in.

They didn't hide it, they said the PC version is some sort of next-gen last-gen hybrid port. It was the same last year.

Sure, if you follow that walking disaster of a community manager in Adam Bhatti. If you're a general consumer on the Steam store, the screenshots are form the PS4 version, so they are hiding it.

Forget my ignorance but wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to use the next-gen versions specifically XB1 version for porting?

And port all the complicated physics simulation and animation blending from current-gen? Nah, let's just upres the xbox360 version and call it a day...

Thats what I thought with the architecture and all.

My guess was the usual elephant in the room, piracy. Offer a sub standard product to the pirates will make them more likely to spend the money on the superior next gen version which of course can't be pirated.

Then nobody would buy the next-gen versions because of PC piracy!

Easier to just hackjob last year's port again

It actually has the new collision physics

This is poor logic - offering a sub standard product will increase piracy, reduce sales, and spread poor word of mouth. Someone who buys it on PC isn't going to magically feel obligated to go buy a console and the game instead.

Yeah, but we knew that the console version of PES would be the better one, because it uses fully Fox Engine and not this anomaly on PC.

I wonder if an old GTX 7800 could handle the game since it's a straight last-gen port?

Their minimum is 8800, but I wouldn't be shocked if it could.

This is still fully FOX Engine though, isn't it? I'm pretty sure they made the move on PS3 and 360 for PES 2014.
