Street Fighter V Roster Discussion: P-P-P-P-PATTERN BREAKER

Seth had an evil masterplan, he was intelligent. Like a typical boss character. Actually every boss character in Street Fighter ever, if I remember correctly. Look at Necalli's win quotes, he's a mindless beast.

Someone pointed it out. When Necalli went Saiyan, he became intelligent and able to speak well.

We will know in NYCC.

If either pair it's confirmed or if we are completely mistaken and fooled by Ono (again).

I wonder if they will start talking DLC characters before the game launch.

EDIT: I don't think Urien would be a boss. It makes sense in the story, but he's far too weak and, uh, boring. Even if Seth was boring, he was at least a brand new character.
I cannot picture a big final showdown against Urien.

he could be power up somehow

For Vulva and NotSafeNetwork, they implied that they have insider information about Gief and Sim. I don't think we should make a huge deal out of it right now.

It's not really "making a huge deal of it" for them to clarify that they're speaking from a position of authority on this. If they actually know, and what they're saying isn't just a super-confident guess, but is actually what's going on, that's helpful. Then we can stop speculating from a lacking knowledge-base. We can put this particular aspect of the game to bed and move onto whatever's next.

The fact NYCC will make it known as well isn't really the point.

If they have information, and they shared it here, it's not making a deal of it to verify that they're speaking based on that information, so people don't get confused between whether they're speculating or whether they're speaking factually.

He better be Cell and eat up Nicalli as a whole then. It would take a major rework for him to be a boss and, at this point, a new character would make more sense.

I would prefer seeing Bison or Nicalli as the end boss. Nicalli could be something similar to Ogre in Tekken 3. An old entity that corporations are after it.

Yeah, if you have alledged insider info then put your word on the line like any insider on GAF instead of tip toeing around with "lolwannabet" comments because that shit is fucking annoying

Another reason I'm dubious about sim/gief is that I don't think they would wait until the end of the reveals the show them. Usually you would think more surprising or greatly requested characters would get revealed later in the cycle. Unless they're much more interesting than usual.

This was my logic as well. Zangief & Dhalsim being reveals would just receive a "Huh, neat" response & kill some of the hype rather than a "HOLY SHIT!!!!!!" or "WTF!?!?!?!?" response that you'd expect from the final reveals. They're honestly just too mundane to be the Final 2 in my opinion. At least Vega got his playstyle overhauled, & even then he got a "Huh, neat" response from the majority (or a surprised response because some were expecting Juri or someone else).

Yeah, even though they're far more recognizable and fitting, it just wouldn't be as exciting (barring crazy tweaks, I guess). Story wise Urien and Alex have way more of a reason to be in there, but by that token they could be shoved into story related DLC. Gonna be a long 3 weeks for sure.

Even with Vega, you could justify his inclusion as being needed for the story (as the last loyal Shadaloo King besides Bison himself). And (assuming that Siliconera is on the money), Urien & Charlie against just Bison may not be a fair fight in numbers unless Bison has some trump card up his sleeve.

Thats how i see it. If they were in the roster i'd think they reveal them during the period they revealed ken and vega.

Thanks.

Edit: Gief and Sim wouldn't be the two characters revealed. They're just be among the last. The last characters revealed would be at Capcom Cup/Sony Experience in December.
I believe the last character for SF4's roster was one of the newbies, right? I expect the same thing here.

If y'all felt that it's annoying

The response of mine you just quoted said "it's not a huge deal." Just that it'd be cool if they clarified it. Which is why I asked vulva directly what was up, same way I'd ask anyone posting here to clarify their position when they make a statement that seems like there's more to it.

None of this is a big deal.

I understand you really care about the story, but they don't need to justify any character to be heavily involved or even be remotely involved with the main story to put them in the game.

Unless you think Rainbow Mika is going to deliver the People's Elbow to M. Bison in the story ending in order to end the conflict.

Putting in/taking out characters for the story has to be the lamest thing ever stop with your theories when Capcom don't even know where to go with the story

You'd rather we go straight for the mods instead of just asking the guy to clarify whether they are teasing something or not? lol

Just say "I'm in the know" or "Just speculating", it's not hard, you didn't see that shit when that one poster said someone told him/her Mika was in.

LOL I would pay to see that

People are seriously arguing for or against Sim and Gief when comic con is just a few weeks away. Yeah, Capcom is definitely waiting to hype up American crowds for an American show with the protector of Soviet Skies or a motherfuckin' Yogi.

We may as well be hedging our bets on Ingrid since Capcom apparently reveals random characters in random shows with no planning whatsoever. That would explain Karin at TGS and Rashid at the DGS.

Capcom are the ones who said story would matter. Something's gotta give w/ Nash and the near-SF3 timeline and Urien in the comic and stuff. But yeah my expectations are below zero here, and we already have story duds like Mika. I personally don't care/don't want story to be a factor in roster inclusion, but it's nice if they can fit or bring some hype to the context.

There's only two left?!
Ugh this roster....

I hope they go in the direction of Mickey Rourke's The Wrestler for Zangief in the story. Like maybe after winning the tournament and beating Seth he had a really successful career and had a beautiful daughter, but as he grew older he faded away from the public eye and became estranged from his family. Now he has to work for Bison just to make ends meet.

His V Trigger is looking at a locket with his daughter's picture in it. He becomes overcome with grief for a short period of time, and his lack of regard for his own life causes him to be able to absorb attacks without flinching for a short period of time.

I would like to think that they already did few pages ago. People kept pushing for more confirmation. And some people asked for seal of Bish last page.

Only justification I can see for including Verga when it comes to story is the run back for the Chun/Vega fight.

Logically based on consistency of silicone and the story focus I believe Urien and Alex to be the final 2 characters. But deep down I don't trust Capcom to put sf3 characters in the opening roster so I feel ultimately I will be dissapointed.

People kept pushing for more confirmation.

Person (me) asked for any confirmation. That's all.

You're very inclined to make that seem like a super-weird thing. Don't know why, but it's not weird.

Although I do like the idea that's surfaced recently that suggests Laura/Zen are essentially replacements for Blanka and Dhalsim, not so much in terms of playstyle, but because Brazil and India having those two jokes as their in-game representatives in 2015 just seems off.

Yes, they will be doing an SFV panel.

Yup, the Street Fighter V panel will be on October 9th (the day after the Brazil Game Show reveal).

Well then, there you go. They won't show up without a new character to announce in addition to Laura in BGS.

Also, I really don't think Necalli is the boss because he has been revealed so early. However, Bison soul transferred inside Necalli as the final boss is a possibility. I am of the mindset however that the final boss will be a brand new character whose name is going to be a derivative of Peter "Combofiend" Rosas, for the sake of tradition.

Mecha Sad Zangief.

the true answer lies in our hearts, and capcom has mostly just smeared poop all over mine so I'm trying to convince myself its gief/sim

Another possibility I can see is the Alex and Urien are the first two DLC characters available right next to launch. So the starting roster is 16 but there 18 available soon after. This might also tie in with them trying to get people used to getting fight money and purchasing characters.
