Good luck with that one. I'm on PS4 otherwise I'd help. I did it last night so I know first hand what an absolute bitch it can be.Anyone one Xbox who wants to do the Fears Embrace quest?
Bungie should be dicks and make it the mission of the day.

You need to have them in order to play the TTK expansion.
You're better off just buying the $60 version
So you only have to damage them. Good to know.Is a bit hard because lots of enemies have shields but I was running defender and putting my bubble up. And you only have to do damage to the brothers with a shotgun. In none of them I got the last shot and I still got the quest done.
They're all pretty good. I went with Void so I can block incoming Solar and Arc damage + attack Void-shielded Minotaurs and Taken WizardsI am at the part where I pick which Sword I want to choose from Shaxx. Which sword out of the 3 would be best for a Hunter? Arc Edge, Sol Edge, Void Edge?
I don't think Xur will be selling weapons anymore, so that does change things.Honestly I think everyone made too big a deal about the 3 of Coins thing.
A lot of people have most new Exotics. So? Some weeks from now they'd have bought them from Xur anyways. Xur sold, without exception, every single Year 1 Exotic weapon twice or more. Everyone who's been around has them. He also sold every single piece of armor (except for Ram).
My point is, Exotics aren't rare in this game, they aren't exclusive, and they often aren't even that special. Most have as-good (or better) Legendary equivalents and now that there's no re rolling, a great Legendary is arguably an even rarer and more satisfying find.
The meaningful "trophy" Exotics are those tied to some sort of quest line or skill check. Stuff like Chaperone or Touch of Malice, the 3 Gunsmith Exotics, the as yet not revealed Heavy Weapons and Boots, or even Thorn back in the day. Things that require you to complete difficult content, play in creative ways, leave your comfort zone, go out and explore.
If tomorrow everyone gets a Telesto instead of everyone slowly acquiring it over weeks of lower-chance-but-equal mechanisms, I honestly think the difference is just whatever.
Probably because since 2.0, everything is easy or requires a really high light level you have yet to obtain. Being at 40 is not good enough.Does anyone know why the two DLC packs are only letting me select easy mode?

You only need to have the gun equipped, you don't need to kill anyone with it.This fucking Last Word quest... couldn't kill a single thing with the gun in crucible so I decided to cheese it and only equip it during Heavy Ammo drops. Got a killstreak of 19 kills and went from 0% to 48% in one match. Holy shit xD

The antiquated rune Court of Oryx event is dope... too bad nobody else understood the mechanics and I wasted it.

Ultimately they're all useful.
Having a real hard time getting from blue weapons and armor to legendary ones. Urgh but yet. What a game. Love it!

Loving this, can't wait to catch up and tackle the raid. Still haven't done the crota raid yet though.
Is all my year one stuff really useless now? What do I do with it all.

Only good for pvp now?
It encourages it because of the rate at which you can use them, the number you can use within a timeframe of minutes, not the total possible uses over the course of a week. That's all I'm getting at.The intended use clearly isn't to cheese Draksis over and over again, but the fact people are using the item to farm in this fashion is the issue. It's currently an item that enables and encourages farming.
Xur will sell either a Year 2 Exotic weapon or a Year 2 Exotic engram (of some kind), each week.I don't think Xur will be selling weapons anymore, so that does change things.
You're at a disadvantage, but not a stastical one. Do you have, for example, your full subclass perks unlocked?
Was running the Mausoleum farming for flakes to get my sword, and got a legendary engram that turned into Monte Carlo. I was very pleasantly surprised.
Doing a newbie Crota's End raid next Saturday if you're interested, shoot me a PM for info!Loving this, can't wait to catch up and tackle the raid. Still haven't done the crota raid yet though.
Agreed, you're at a disadvantage. Depending on how far beyond maxing your subclass you are, it can indeed be very deep. I was just saying that weapons and armor aren't putting him at a statistical disadvantage, the way PvP works in many RPGs. There are two modes of play that rotate around as events- Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, where this actually is the case; these modes are essentially unplayable if you're not geared and leveled up. But in normal PvP, as you've noted, you can actually have some success and improve despite the disadvantage. But it's still a VERY deep disadvantage. For example, I jumped into PvP early on and couldn't even pick up heavy ammo since I didn't have anything to put in that slot. Whereas you have people use the best guns with ridiculous accuracy and fire rates, much better and stronger supers etc.
Utterly ridiculous every single match, I have been paired with max 40 level people, or 39. People who have the best weapons and have hundreds and hundreds of hours of game play over me. I'm sure there are easily hundreds thousands of new Taken King vanilla players like me they could match us up with no? It's getting better though. I'm no longer dead last, able to be one of the better players on the team.

I've never done anything like this in a competitive MP match before. 10 kill streak as Stormcaller using Stormtrance. The laugh at the end is really, really embarrassing but I usually suck hard at Crucible so I was very much taken aback by it.
There's a lot of personal preference as well as some theorycrafting here.So today as I was farming Exotic Engrams I got a Monte Carlo, but I really want the Zhalo.
I was wondering if the Monte Carlo is better than the Zhalo for PVE?
Can someone explain how the Taken Champions quest works?
I have no idea where to start
Go to one of the locations on each planet the quest tells you to go to. Eventually a message will appear saying "Taken forces are corrupting this location" start killing them, eventually it'll say "A Taken Lieutenant is corrupting this location" and you need to find it and kill it each time that message shows up, a total of 3 will spawn. After you kill 3 of them you'll see the message "A Taken Zealot has come to claim this location" (may not be the exact message, my memory is spotty right now) and you need to kill him.Can someone explain how the Taken Champions quest works?

True. I still haven't seen one of them or two of the remixed ones, but they're all really solid so far.Wow the new strikes are really well done. All of them very different from one another.
The story missions are the biggest leap IMO. It's basically hard to believe they're even shared by the same game with the same characters (feel like I would put that word in quotation marks for the vanilla story missions)Taken King makes the old content look so fucking shitty by comparison.
That's a cool idea.I wish it wasn't always motes of light when you 'level' up. Would be cool if it was random: sometimes coins, sometimes motes, sometimes legendary/exotic engrams, sometimes materials etc

Ranking up factions does have that random element with everything you mentioned as a possibility (except mats), so that's cool. They also added engrams as rewards for some bounties.
