Man, thst gamesradar article is blubbling on. Looks like the author just wanted to share his random impressions on the game instead of delivering a coherent message.
"blubbling", haha.
I need to use that.

Gamesradar doesn't even know what the name of the game is. It's V not 5.
Release date announced unexpectedly.
Trouble between Kojima & Konami surfaces.
Turns out he's been burning through their money and not delivering.
His entire team are getting the boot once the game releases.
Game releases with half baked story, repeated mission and missing content.
Actually guys this is the way it was meant to be all along. O Kojime.
Yeah. And from his (very good) portrayal of Ishmael early on, effectively being Snake Bauer, you were hoping for more ham moments for him to chew things up. Play to his strengths.
Ocelot was blonde, like his mother.
Man, we called this days ago, that the 'It's bad because it's supposed to be bad' would find it's way into the media. I can only laugh.
Yeah, I know that. You're right. I just want to finish it, you know? Finish it and move on.
And I feel like a better game would still have me entertained rather than burned out at 100 hours. Whether or not I'm burned out I'm not sure what the point of all those repetitive side ops or all that waiting is. I also feel like it's not my fault that due to extended play I'm seeing all the flaws - if the flaws weren't there to be seen I wouldn't see them.
I'd love to join in on the plot discussion but I'm afraid I found it so unengaging that speculation about it doesn't interest me at all. Never thought I'd say that about a Metal Gear game.
Real twist here: TPP is not a mainline game.
I paid $35 for an unfinished game and not enough content variety.are people actually saying this
I mean, PW was a direct sequel to MGS3, and it wasn't called MGSV. They should've it MGS5: Chapter 1, with V being Chapter 2. At least it would give us hope that there would be a Chapter 3, Gaben aside...
Kojima must thank Konami a lot for not allowing him to name PW MGS5 so he could add "V has come to" in TPP

What about Portable Ops? But yeah, I remember hearing rhetoric that PW was the true MGS5 when it was coming out.
Can someone remind me. Was it stated that Big Boss gets plastic surgery after leaving Ocelot?
People are really reaching to try and justify the fact that a dude didn't finish his magnum opus for whatever reason. And then this bullshit to try and come up with a way to justify repetition and rehashed missions.
Like holy shit some are just too desperate to admit that mistakes were made during the development of the game.
The random muttering is just Code Talker saying the observations the parasites have made out loud. The eyes on Kaz thing is not explained. It seems like the guy sends parasites out to be his eyes.Has anyone figured out what the Code Talker cutscene means?
"Eyes on Kaz"
"a meeting between 2 containers in daylight?"
"Ocelots aim is off today"

Yeah it's really dumb to say that the repeat missions have some thematic importance, but I think he's right about the 'day after tomorrow' stuff. Kaz and BB get the revenge they've been looking for, but it's not fulfilling. Kaz starts suspecting his own men etc.
Basically, revenge is butts
Actually, yes!
It's one of the last things Ocelot says to him before Big Boss rides off. He says, 'You're going to need to change your face, too' and IIRC gives him a card or something.
I named my avatar Big Boss and completely forgot that I did that. When Ocelot handed him a passport that said he changed his name to "Big Boss", I was like "Well, that's stupid, why would he officially make his name something he's trying to hide?"

It's a passport with the identity of the player created avatar in it.
After beating it last night I'm thinking more about it. Ground Zeroes is the Tanker to the Phantom Pains Big Shell

So instead of reporting on the broken state of the narrative in this game, they imply that it's deliberately done?
Bizarre. Just bizarre.

It's been sometime since I've played MGS3, but I don't think it was hinted at all in that game that Big Boss and his team would create The Patriots.

Hey me too but my avatar name is Oni chan -_-
You know I just realized this, and this only contributes to the phantom pain of what could have been with V:
Call me Ishmael is an infamous literary phrase and I think it's due to the fact that it is akin to the third person omniscient "little did he know" implying the existence of a narrator. We can surmise this because at the very beginning of the game, we see Venom walk up to a mirror, which is usually associated with a crisis of identity in most works of fiction, and play a cassette tape (From the man who sold the world) upon which the camera zooms in. Cut to the ending scene of the game and we are given the truth from big boss himself, " Now do you remember. Who you really are." This implies thatryinggame that we just played up to that point was a story being told to us by the narrator (big boss).
Now let's look at the Moby dick motif at face value. You have a captain, or captains, with missing limbs and a thirst for vengeance in command of a group of multicultural crewman out at sea. Pequod and Queegueg, the chopper pilots, are your harpooners. And that's where I'm stopping cuz super bunny hop just posted the mgsv analysis video we've all been waiting for and he is gonna say what I'm trying to say only better:
That mgsv's thematic narrative fails because it is a Metal Gear game. Canonical baggage is the killer here as it was for gz.
Kojima deserves 'zero' credit for this masterpiece.
Probably what the hell Big Boss actually was doing during that time. Maybe get a peak at Solid Snake. Maybe see how the events lead into MG1 (does Venom go rogue and the real Big Boss makes the decision to have Venom be targeted by Snake?) If Venom does go rogue/bad then we need to see how that happens because that is what made people want to play the game in the first place (ie. the downfall of Big Boss into villainy).I don't see what chapter 3 could add that would make people change their minds about the story.
