I won't spoil the film at all (see: Sony hack), but I'm kind of perplexed by the lyrics.

They don't seem to tie into the film at all. Not even a bit.

Did Smith even get to see the film before writing this turd of a theme?

Are you joking? I think it's pretty clear that
this song is reflective of Bond's relationships with Vesper in CR and Swann here in Spectre. It's about that whole crossroads element as to how Bond apparently walks away from MI6 to be with Swann at the end of the film.

I will say the song's grown on me with repeated listens. Still not as good as You Know My Name, but it's interesting just the same.

Also, Smith wrote the song back in December apparently. I'm guessing he based the lyrics and music off of the script (assuming they let him read it).

I've come to really warm up to it. It's pretty good on repeat listens, not that I thought it was bad, just bland.

I initially thought it was buildup without payoff, but the composition started to remind me of early Bond themes, but more subdued. I think a subdued intro after presumably a big action set piece seems appropriate (possible opening scene spoiler?
scenes filmed in Austria is for the opening scene, right?
).

I think people might warm up to it a lot more once you get it placed on Spectre's title sequence.

I like it. But I also liked the White & Keys song so what do I know?

It wasn't bad, but it was busy as hell. The collaboration wasn't a bad idea, but it just didn't gel on the final product. If it was boiled down to more simple composition, it would've been a lot better. I do like it though.

I heard it late last night but after sleeping on it... I think the song's okay, if a little boring. I kept waiting for that moment when it hits you that this is a James Bond song, but it never really happened.

Might give it a few more listens but it's pretty much just "okay" for me. I'll take Sheryl Crow's Tomorrow Never Dies (it's really her vocals that make the song work for me) any day.

Favorite theme from Craig's era is still You Know My Name, though I'm a sucker for Skyfall as well.

Absolutely terrible and this guy doesn't have 1/10th of the star power Adele had to carry her song. DOA.

Yeah, does anyone else think this will flop as a radio song? I mean they can force it down our throats, but I just can't imagine people eating it up like they did with Skyfall.

I've listened to this twice and have no desire to hear it again until I see the movie. And even then, I'm just more interested in the visuals they attach to it to see if that someone elevates my enjoyment of it in a weird way.

This might be one of the most forgettable bond songs ever... much like the actual movies i like my bond themes either iconic or horrendous, this is just boring.

I had to listen to the song with headphones because I couldn't understand what the fuck Sam Smith was singing.

Antony from Antony & The Johnsons would have done this better. Lulu would have done this better. They could have gotten Miranda Lambert to do this. Anyone would have done this song better.

I don't mind the song being a vulnerable, emotional song and it IS a James Bond song, it's just that Sam Smith isn't very good.

Kept waiting for the moment when it gets cooking and Sam brings the house down. It was a musical moment of blue balls. Not a bad song, it just could have been so much more.

I'll reserve my judgement until I see it with the film and how it gels with the intro visuals/cut in/out.

I know I definitely did not like 'Another Way To Die' when listened in isolation but it fit the movie quite well

Basically what I was waiting for while listening.

Like I said, need a good couple of listens but it's just that the payoff isn't there at all...

Fuck Sam Smith and his mopey shit ruining a James Bond song. He never should have been chosen in the first place. He makes Bond seem like a little bitch.

Cheers updated. Still can't find a youtube link, odd they didn't release a lyric video like they did for Skyfall.

Yep, as soon as I heard "24", I knew it was her Bond song. It's unmistakable Bond and one of my favorite songs on the album. Should have gone with Lana. :/

Finally listened to it. That was...

Well, the only word that comes to mind is bland. I'm just echoing everyone else cause that's just really, really bland. I mean, it has some nice bits. He's not a bad singer, but the song doesn't hook me. I don't like when he goes high-pitched. I like the strings.

They made a mistake not getting Lana Del Rey to do it. I'm listening to '24' right now, her rejected Bond theme. It's just so perfect. It has great build up, Lana's voice is seductive as hell, the lyrics fit Bond well. It's this great sweeping dramatic track. It even has that weird little Mexican-y drum thing going on that would fit so well with the Mexican opening.

Man. This is just disappointing. What were they thinking.

They passed on Lana Del for this nonsense? Lol okay.

full

If they used Lana Del Rey's '24', I think it would have surpassed 'You Know My Name' and 'Skyfall'. I love it more than either of those tracks.

SPECTRE's theme is better than Jack White's for QOS, but just barely. I really didn't like that one.

The first person who adds drums, a bassline, and maybe some guitars to this is going to get so many views/hits.

It's the perfect example of a piece being ready made for someone on the internet to "fix" and go viral.
