They passed on Lana Del for this nonsense? Lol okay.

full

yeah, it's tragic

Even the lyrics. The goddamn lyrics.

Sam Smith:

I've been here before
But always hit the floor
I've spent a lifetime running
And I always get away
But with you I'm feeling something
That makes me want to stay

I'm prepared for this
I never shoot to miss
But I feel like a storm is coming
If I'm gonna make it through the day
Then there's no more use in running
This is something I gotta face

If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?

How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you're not here I'm suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
Cause the writing's on the wall

A million shards of glass
That haunt me from my past
As the stars begin to gather
And the light begins to fade
When all hope begins to shatter
Know that I won't be afraid

If I risk it all
Could you break my fall?

How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you're not here I'm suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
Cause the writing's on the wall

The writing's on the wall

How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you're not here I'm suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
How do I live? How do I breathe?
When you're not here I'm suffocating
I want to feel love, run through my blood
Tell me is this where I give it all up?
For you I have to risk it all
Cause the writing's on the wall

It's like a sixteen year old's diary.

Lana Del Rey:

There's only 24 hours in a day
And half as many ways for you to lie to me, my little love
There's only 24 hours in a day
And half of those, you lay awake
With thoughts of murder and carnage

If you lie down with dogs, then you'll get fleas
Be careful of the company you keep

There's only 24 hours
And that's not enough
To lie like you lie or
Love like you love

There's only 24 hours in a day
And half of those you lay
Between the sheets with me, my lying love
There's only 24 hours, so you'd say
For most of them you pay
For all the things they paid you for, my love

If you lie down with dogs, then you'll get fleas
Be careful of the ones you choose to leave

There's only 24 hours
And that's not enough
To lie like you lie or
Love like you love

Give me your heat
Give me your diamonds
You hit that street
And my crooked lust
You count to three
While they're all dying
You're hard to reach
You're cold to touch

The Jack White wouldn't have been wretched if Alicia Keys wasn't laid over the top of it.

That was basically a straight up Jack White track. Shoulda just double/triple tracked his own voice for harmonization. Alicia going over the top of it just didn't work (and it was mixed poorly)

The instrumental is pretty fuckin' good. But she doesn't fit that song at all.

That's just weak. I don't like it. A shame but I really think they couldn't top Adelle's masterpiece from Skyfall. Looks like they didn't even try, they just said fuck it, let's just put something there.

Hmm...if its indicative of the tone of the film...yikes.

Its not bad on its own but isnt what youd expect from a Bond theme.

bond themes are indicative of the tone of the films now? they're barely related aside from a few references in the lyrics sometimes.

anyways sam smith sucks ass, shame on the producers for choosing him when you have such a blindingly obvious choice in the weeknd.

In the Daniel Craig the quality of the song seems to dictate the quality of the movie.
Casino Royale - Great Song, Great Movie.
Quantum of Solace - Bad Song, Bad Movie.
Skyfall - Horrible Song, Horrible Movie.

But really, what's up with the falsetto? Kills the tone.

^^

He does not have a good vocal tone in that register, way too shrill and grating to stay there for that long.

Plus he mumbles the lyrics the entire song.

One of the worst bond themes ever, not just of the modern ones.

You Know My Name is still the GOAT(at least of the non-Shirley Bassey ones, but those are a different animal).

Good lord, no thanks.

Lol at this shit. It starts generically Bond-ish, then becomes terrible and offers no payoff whatsoever.

This dude's voice is a serious WTF.

I just listened to Lana's 24 for the first time because mentions of it keeps popping up here.

Well fuck...now I'm just sad. That's an archetypal Bond song if there ever was one. Might sound too old school for for what Bond producers want though.

Still a thousand times better than Smith's feeble bullshit.

Oh wait, they fucked this up before too.

Wasn't this the original Quantum of Solace track: Shirley Bassey's 'No Good About Goodbye'? Yet, they somehow went with that wretched Jack White/Alicia Keys track.

^^

Would have been a much better song choice, but it's probably too 'stereotypical bond' for the modern producers.

The producers of the Craig films have gone too far out of their way to distance themselves from the tone of the older films, which is a shame. I get that the camp elements don't work in a modern film, but the old films did a lot of things right also.

Although the 'pick a current top 40 act and get them to do the song' thing goes back to the Brosnan era, and looking back it's kind of an anomaly that Cornell was chosen.

The falsetto is what hurts the song. Still need to let Michael Buble do a theme.

Had no idea they skipped over Shirley Bassey for QoS. Thats unfortunate.

Chris Cornell and Adele were great.

I have no idea how people can be down on this song but also high on Lana's, it's the exact same shit -- same tone, same tempo, same anti-climax. I think Sam's is better even if only for the superior instrumentals.

How are people listening to Lana and Sam and think those songs are the same, starting immediately with the difference in their respective voices and range in which they operate. Sorry, but Smith's falsetto really kills the song for me, and he operates in that mode for half the song. It'd help if at the very least his song had some percussion and humming like Lana's does, but it doesn't. The best thing about that song is the minor swell that happens like halfway through, but it doesn't last, and he slips right back into the lilting thing of his right after so it turns back into garbage right away.

Listened to both Writings on the Wall by Sam Smith and 24 by Lana Del Rey

24 is a fantastic song that would be perfect for Bond. Sexy but with an edge.

Writings on the Wall was just flat out terrible. Sounds like it was written by a teen who was trying to be edgy and deep.

Also that 16 hour comment by Sam Smith is infuriating.

I've only heard the Itunes preview but I feel like I've already heard enough. His voice just doesnn't work for me and it didn't sound like the 2nd verse was going anywhere.

Also, while Lana's 24 isn't as bold as I'd like, it sets the usual suave Bond atmosphere in a much more interesting way. And her voice is better suited.

Outside of Cornell, Craig tenure has been a wreck for openings. QoS and now Spectre. With Skyfall being middle of the line.

straw dogs predates home alone by like 20 years brehs. there was nothing wrong with that aspect of the finale, i just didn't like how it was centered so heavily on M and such a clunky ass death scene.

makes sense though since she was retiring from film but could have given her a better exit

What? No way.

Skyfall is one of the best Bond films.

A very vocal minority hates it. It's always about how the ending is like Home Alone. They're not wrong, I mean it's similar in that an outmanned protagonist uses weapons and booby traps to weaken the enemy, but I don't really see the issue.

Just listened to it. Yeah, it starts off so promising but that falsetto singing just got so annoying. It completely overpowered the track.
