LEGO Dimensions |OT| Not Lost Dimensions

Is it possible to platinum the game if you only buy the starter pack? I know I'll end up buying quite a few of the other packs eventually, but I can't afford them all in one go.

According to this article:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...hree-year-plan-for-more-levels-and-characters

"You can 100 per cent the game and get the Platinum trophy just from the base set. People have been playing Lego games for 10 years now, and we shouldn't be offering anything less than that."

how do you 100% the game without, say, the portal gun to get for example the first hidden chest in the ninjago level?

Indeed, I was asking myself the same question, what is likely is that by "100% the game" he means complete the story mode and get all trophies/achievements

Maybe new trophy's/achievements unlock when you buy new packs.

Yeah I only just discovered there are new trophies with each level pack, but they are classified as "DLC trophies" so don't impact the general trophy list, which is achievable with just the three base figures.

If you like the gameplay of LEGO games and find building the portal appealing, then absolutely.

Hmmm just looking at all the packs on Amazon is pushing me over the edge. Would people who've got the games say the portal and Simpsons level packs are worth it? Oh and has anyone bought the wicked witch, Jurassic park or scooby sets? How are those open worlds?

I feel really dumb for asking this but how exactly is Wyldstyle supposed to hold on to her detector thing?
The peg in the back (between the two stud slots) should fit inside her hand.

You may need to rotate the hand 180 degrees (one side sticks further out from the wrist than the other.)

Hmm.

Finishing BTTF level gave me an achievement. So I imagine you can't. I didn't check if it had added on an extra achievement for the level pack.

Like this:

turn her hand "upside down" it can grab that little piece on the underneath better that way.

How long is the actual game? I want to pick this up but I really don't want to spend $30 extra for just an extra hour of content. I'm not really into the whole collecting aspect of Lego so I'd only be purchasing level sets for the gameplay.

Does anyone have the Wii U version ? According to this review (in Spanish) & this youtube video, there are framerate problems & freezes during co-op play, can you confirm ?

I have the Wii U version, but between Super Mario Maker and Happy Hone Designer I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

I buy all my LEGO games on Nintendo platforms and always hear these kinds of complaints, but I never personally came to a point where I was playing something and thought "I should have gotten this for something else."

Reviews are saying 10 to 12 hours for the story alone. The level packs seem to average around an hour each, and it's not clear how much content is in the sandbox exploration worlds but it sounds substantial enough.

Thanks, I went ahead and picked it up.

I hope not, I got the Wii U version just to play with my wife. I'll post some thoughts after we play a bit. I'm guessing the base is universal for when I eventually get a PS4?

No problems with the Wii U version...yet. Though played multi just a bit...by myself. :/

Only "thing" was that even though the game's compatible with Wii Remote + Nunchuck, Wii Remote + Classic Controller and Wii U Pro; player #1 can only use the Wii U gamepad. So, the additional controllers are for multiplayer.

And Gamepad use is limited to mirror screen, off-TV and a really basic menu to switch characters (which can already be done in the game with X).

Has anyone had a defective pad? The single, middle toy sensor doesn't work. The others are fine but that one won't register and now I can't even pass the first few minutes.

Edit: Very weird, apparently it doesn't like my table. I put it on a book and it works perfectly.

Metal table? Yeah, the pad doesn't like metal tables.

For those who have the Simpsons level pack, does anyone know how Homer is supposed to hold his drink?

Trying to put the minifig together, and the instructions are not clear how he is holding the can. Just shows the can sitting on his hand.

Damn, the Wicked Witch is very OP. She's replaced Gandalf in my main squad, and sometimes I can just fly right to the end of a level.

Was very surprised when discovring that the game lets you access the Lego Movie, LoTR, and DC hub worlds. I thought those would be tied behind other purchases.

Yeah. It threw me off because the others worked fine. It was just the middle one.

Just keep an eye on it. Failed portals are everywhere. I have now returned 2 alone.

Flip his left hand over so the inside lip is showing. Then fit the bear over that lip.
Like fitting a coffee mug lid over a coffee mug. But you have to make sure the right part of his hand is facing up.

Fully upgraded every form of the Batmobile, including the chrome option. Why? Why not?
Is there really only one stud multiplier?

These games usually give you a taste of the locked stuff, like how Skylanders:Swap Force had fire and water Swap Force figures and Skylanders: Trap Team had a water Trapmaster.
The DC one is decent. It has a hidden Atlantis area, too. Lego Movie and LotR are weak.
The last one I tried was Jurassic World and it's really well done. I haven't seen the one in Lego Jurassic World to compare, though.

I think comparing any of the sandbox worlds in Dimensions to a hub world that a full game like Lego Jurassic World or Lego LotR is based around is kind of unfair to the hub worlds, since there's more than one of them in this game and in LJW or LLotR there was just the one to expand and refine and fill. You can't make like 14 worlds of that quality to explore for one game.

Nice I just came in here to ask this!

I just picked up the starter pack, scooby doo team pack, the simpsons level pack, jurrasic world team pack, and portal level pack. My son is receiving all this for his birthday tomorrow.

So does ninjago and chima have hub worlds?

Are any characters considered rare? I'm waiting for a deal to pick up the set but don't want to miss out on anyone.

Best buy had everything from wave 1 on the shelf.

I'd consider any set with an exclusive license like Portal and Dr. Who strong candidates to sell out, especially when you can get them for under $30 with GCU.

Wonder Woman has the most sheer volume of abilities, followed by Slimer, then Superman and the Cyberman are tied for third.
I agree that the Wicked Witch (just below those two, six compared to seven) is badass and flat out better than Gandalf by a lot.

So does ninjago and chima have hub worlds?

Yes. All the brands do.

I apologize if this question has been asked, but any word as to which platform it is best on? I see it mostly advertised on PS4 although I'd guess Xbox One's version is just as good?

And all I need is a character from that brand to unlock it? So if I wanted the wizard of oz hub I have to purchase the Wicked Witch? Sorry just trying to figure this all out.

Right.
And they just need to be on the portal when you try to enter. You don't need to have them selected.

I wanted to come back and say that, after Gamestop helped us out and got us fixed up, i now have a functioning game, and i have to say, i honestly dig the hell out of it.

I do feel like having hidden stuff not accessible by more then one character is a little shady, but the game itself is so damn good. The story is funny, using the portal is part of the game is genius, and i do love the Adventure worlds. I even think for the price, Simpsons is worth getting. The level in that was fantastic.

I'm not defending the pricing, just trying to get it in proper perspective. So:

The thing about the Level packs people should consider is that they let you unlock adventure worlds the earliest.

Look at everything in Wave 1 and the upcoming waves, you'll see what I mean.

Want to get into the Scooby adventure world? You need the Scooby Level pack because there are no other scooby figures coming out that are announced.

Want in the Simpsons adventure world? You can buy the Simpsons level pack and get access now, or wait until bart and crusty are released in over a month and get access then. Up to you.

It's the same with all the level packs: they get you access to the adventure worlds for that new wave. In some cases you can wait and get figures from that theme in later waves, but in other cases like with Portal and Midway Arcade you can only get access if you get the level pack.

This is in addition to the playable level they come with.

You've got it a bit wrong.

The Scooby-Doo one is a TEAM pack, not a Level pack. A Team pack is two minifigs and two items.

Any and I mean ANY pack of a franchise you haven't gotten yet instantly unlocks it's hub world. Even a $15 fun pack like the Wicked Witch from the Wizard of Oz.

The only thing a level pack does is give you an extra 45 minute or so level from the franchise, but with a minifig and two items for $5 more than a pack that comes with another minfig. In simple math, 4 toys for $25 vs. 3 toys for $30. It's just not a very good deal.

Also, the hub worlds themselves add a lot more. I just finished the Back to the Future level and it was like, a half-hour long at the most.

Since there's a fairly long level of each franchise in the game, maybe we're better off with just the hub worlds and next year they can forget about the level packs. $5 more for a short level and one less toy isn't worth it.

A quick warning to people who like to keep their portal close at hand. Don't leave it where it can be tripped over :(

I would be okay with more elaborate hub worlds at the cost of cutting level packs and working any story content they want to use those for into the game's main storyline. Cutting the $30 price tier and just having it be $25 and $15 sounds good to me.

OMG how buggy is this game!?!?

I'm in the FREAKING TUTORIAL LEVEL and first Wild Style gets stuck on the landscape so we have to RESTART the game, and now we've built the portal and it's just flashing RED at us and we have NO IDEA what we're supposed to be doing. Swapping characters around does nothing.

Edit: right, on the third attempt when we went to build the portal the build instructions came up, and when it was built we were prompted to build the batmobile. YAY BUGGY RELEASES.

You've got it a bit wrong.
I accidentally called it a level pack, I know it's a team pack. All the team pack / level pack stuff is a bit convoluted when you start trying to plan out what you need to buy to get access to the most content efficiently without having to buy everything.

The scooby team pack is the only Scooby pack you can buy, period. So to get access to the Scooby open world area you'll need it.

Bit the bullet and went for this on release day, I was very sceptical about the pricing of the level packs but decided to give the Portal 2 one.

Gotta say I am in love with it, only played through the first level and the Portal 2 level with my girlfriend. The gameplay is solid and the Lego it comes with is awesome. I felt as though the Portal 2 pack was very much worth the money, although I would love to see a full Lego game built around it, they translated the game perfectly to be a platformer.

Now I've got the collecting bug and picked up the Simpsons level pack and the Jurassic World team pack. Looking forward to having a play with these tonight.
