Not even remotely true. All they said is they are going to be in the game and there is literally no reason to say they must have been told the characters were going to be DLC, or even if the leaker knew whether or not they'd be DLC. They were accurate up until this point and nothing suggests their information is wrong.
Did we watch the same trailer?
Ken Bogard is still undefeated... and considering he's named like 10 things in this game he won't be exposed....

These anti hype characters like Claw and Gief did better on the SF popularity poll than the "hype" Alex and Urien.... the only low popularity character in the game is Birdy....
They changed a lot about him, actually. What did you want, him to get fireballs or a dragon punch?

He looks quite a bit different than other iterations. I mean the moves look the same but he looks like he plays differently.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm not even a big fan of Boxer (I've always sucked with him, and I don't particularly like watching him play - Dudley is vastly superior) but unless either Laura or Zen are going to be pugilists, that's a pretty big hole in game.
But it's hard to argue that a Guile reveal wouldn't work better at NYCC than a Boxer one.

Zangief eh? guess siliconera was wrong, or Alex and Urien are day one dlc, or Alex is at NYCC and Urien is day dlc/boss. Oh and Day one dlc doesnt kill hype.

Pretty much. The only "hype" I actually see is people who are pleased at the disappointment / 'salt" of others. Don't see much genuine enthusiasm, which is not surprising, because this is up there w/ Vega as far as biggest disappointment. They didn't even change the appearance of either, lol. Casuals indeed.

I'm just going to assume they fuck up the rest of the roster with the likes of balrog, sim, honda, blanka and Guile. Gonna assume that Guile is the NYCC reveal. It's a lot better than actually having some hope that Capcom would provide variety and freshness.

As DLC characters, absolutely. I don't think they'd make this whole DLC/fight money system without putting up content for it on Day 1.

Guile obviously plays into the story pretty heavily

Like, if there's going to be a big hubbub about it, a panel with elements of showmanship in play - what's gonna get more pop? Dhalsim yelling "Yoga?" Boxer tripping out on his Fight Money? Or the first notes of that fucking theme kicking in as the sunglasses come on?
The hope is that Laura or Zen is the boxer-like character, then, so that playstyle isn't shafted on release.

I think Birdie is kinda filling the Balrog-esque hole in the roster right now.
Boxer is probably the last character I want back and I mained him in vanilla IV. Dudley is a superior pugilist and Q is a more interesting dash puncher.
I bet the last classic is Dhalsim. He fills a niche that the other vets don't and he was the 3rd character revealed for IV (after Ryu and Ken). Guile seems like he'd be DLC.

What???? Projectiles have always been super hard to deal with as Gief. The tools they give him to avoid them are lackluster or cost meter, and thats by design.

Everyone else seems to have a much easier time nullifying projectiles in SF5. Have you played the game yet?
Hm you might be right. Guile would also fill zoner play style we're still missing and presumed Sim would fill.
Though I'm also thinking it could be Akuma. Because...you know...Akuma.
It could be just cosmetic stuff tho.
I'm disappointed we got Gief over Alex.. Not salty, but after Karin was confirmed, I was sure the two returning characters would be 3S reps.
