Which fitness ecosystem are you using?

FitBit, Google, Withings, Apple, Nike, Jawbone, Runkeeper and so on. There are so many fitness ecosystems now, which one did you choose, why, and are you satisfoed with it?

Right now I own a Withings Activité Pop. I wanted a new fitness tracker but I'm done with the bands that look like toys. The Pop isn't flashy or anything (no HR) but I don't have to charge it for the next three months and it looks just like a usual watch. Withings offers a bunch of stuff in addition to their trackers. Blood pressure monitors, sleep trackers, smart scales (I'm actually thinking about getting one, paying 70€ instead of taping in your weight on your phone makes total sense, right?). What I do miss though is a bit of friendly competition but no one I know uses Withings. Also the dashboard could be better.

My first tracker was a FitBit (the one before they offered wristbands) and I loved it (its dashboard and partner apps are great) but I lost it. I also tried out the Nike band for a few weeks but its app was a bit... soulless? I don't know, didn't motivate me that much.

So, what are you using and why? Or is your phone enough for you? Google Fit is pretty neat. Can't say anything about Apple.

BTW, do we have GAF communities for the different ecosystems? Could be fun.

None really, to be honest. I have that Nike+ stuff in my running shoes, and I tried it out with my iPhone, but it didn't give me much of value. Maybe the Apple Watch can change that for me. I am waiting for a 2.0 version with better battery life.

My scale uploads my data to an online storage and logs it there, which is handy.

I was thinking of getting the Fitbit too but I'm debating between that and a polar.

Yea I wasn't too impressed with the Nike offerings either

Google Fit with Android Wear, waiting very patiently for it to become good enough.

I had a Fitbit but got an LG watch and refuse to look like an idiot by wearing two.

I thought about buying a Nike watch but I enjoy not being connected when I work out. I even stopped listening to music while I'm running. I've come to think of my exercise as my time away from the digital society.

Cant wear an activity tracker due to rules at work(no jewelry).

Use Fitnotes on Android for exercise tracking at the gym.

MyFitnessPal for calorie counting.

I suppose if Google got it together I would try to use theirs with an Android Wear watch. Using Google Fit on my N5 was incredibly battery draining.

I have a Polar H7 that I use occasionally when i get on the cardio train.

I glance at google fit/moto body every so often but it's annoying to wear my moto 360 at the gym so I don't really take much stock in the numbers it gives me about HR, calories burned etc.

The only thing I've taken away from either is that if they're accurate, my calorie maintenance is a fair bit higher than I thought it was.

Strava app for cycling. I don't feel a need to get too deep with hr or cadence monitoring. It's enough for me to judge how I'm doing from my average speed for a particular route, segment times, etc.

Yeah, keeping things simple sometimes is the best solution. But I like pushing myself with music and I also enjoy looking at my data for a reason I do not know. I won't do anything with it - I don't run marathons or something like that - but I still enjoy it.

I use Nike for tracking my runs and MyFitnessPal for calorie counting.

I tried to use Misfit when I got my Pebble, but Misfit is complete and utter trash. How it calculated that I burned 3000 calories on a 4 mile walk I have no idea.

Maybe it's off-topic, but I don't use any product like that. I guess I feel like I already have enough to deal with in getting my ass to the gym that the last thing I need is another thing to remember to bring/charge/worry about.

Now, hypocritically, I do keep a log book where I write down all my workouts and the date, location, and my body weight. I legitimately have over 99% of all my gym sessions since 2010 recorded by hand. The notes include any cardio (duration/type of cardio) and each listing exercise (sets/rep/amount lifted for each set/rep).

I keep a fairly simple lifting routine though with at most 5 types of lifting exercises per gym visit with as little as 3 per visit. For example, if I have a "leg day" it might look like this in my notebook:

Squats: 5x45, 5x135, 5x225, 3x5x275
Front squats: 5x45, 5x95, 5x135, 3x5x185
Leg Press: 5x90, 5x180, 5x270, 3x5x350

I tend to abbreviate the exercise names too so itbends up being barely 3-5 lines for each gym visit. Doing this for 5 years with 2-4 gym visits per year has made for a cool little notebook.

I have been using a combination of Fitbit, endomondo, and myfitness pal. I have dropped 26 pounds since may. When everything is working right, I get a good idea of my calories in/out and level of activity and sleep for the week. The information integration is great between the three systems I use. Once I set everything up, the only maintenance I have to do is adjust my run distance every now and then. Fitbit has given me nothing but problems with the hardware and software. Since I've managed to work myself up to 20 miles a week running I'm planning on moving to either the moto 360 sport or polar m400 to start tracking my runs.

Strava iphone app for running and Garmin Edge 500 for cycling. I really want one of those all-in-one triathlon watches though.

Garmin edge 500 for tracking and Golden Cheetah for logging software, as it deals with power data very well.

Use Strava only for race data to compare against my peers.

Fitbit Charge HR for exercise / hr tracking
Fitbit Aria for weight / bf% tracking
Myfitnesspal for calorie / macro nutrient tracking

Went with fitbit since it's so unobtrusive for something that has a heart rate monitor that's reasonably accurate. The Basis B1 was great but too clunky and Garmin Vivofit required a heart rate chest band.

Since I already had a fitbit, figured getting the Aria scale was a no brainer. Logging every measurement automatically is nice...

Used to use Strava a bit for cycling. Stopped using it because the app was annoying asking me to upgrade to pro all the time, recommend it to my friends, etc.

Now I just bike, run, and go to the gym. I don't really measure anything. I'm sure these fitness trackers work well and all, but I try to spend nothing on superfluous lifestyle products.

I use Nike+ when I go for a run, but that's really it.

Beyond that when I get in my car after work and think "eh I really don't want to go to the gym today" I just say fuck you you're going anyway. It's an aggressive ecosystem.

Used to be a big fitocracy user but Havnt been lifting consistently the last few yrs.

Currently using runkeeper - just waiting to buy a garmin now that i want to track hr

None,

Lift 3x / Week
Cardio 1-2 / Week

Works fine for me. The only thing I need to really track is my lifting program, which needs to be mixed up every 6-8 weeks.

I'm 33 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Instagram, mirrors, and the scale.

I use the Starting Strength app to log my progress, but Fitocracy is pretty good and free.

"Ecosystem"? Does it grow molds or something? Does it grow mold on me? Doesn't exercising keep me from growing mold?

Ecothingy: buy it and exercise to keep the mold at bay
Got it

Fitbit Charge HR for exercise / hr tracking
Fitbit Aria for weight / bf% tracking
Myfitnesspal for calorie / macro nutrient tracking

So you're saying I should get a smart scale. OK!

I use a spreadsheet to keep track of what I will be lifting.
JeFIT to keep track of what I actually did lift and to time my rest periods.
My Fitness Pal periodically to make sure my calorie count has crept up too much. I can't use it on a regular basis, though. I start to min-max my calories and get into an unhealthy mindset.

MyFitnessPal and the built in FitBit on my phone plus the Android app Progression for lifting.

The FitBit is really just informational for calories burned. I take all this info and out into a spreadsheet and weigh myself daily then do weekly averages.

MyFitnessPal for food, JefIt for lifting, and Google Fit/Runtastic to keep track of calorie burn. Though, Runtastic will automatically sync with MyFitnessPal and Google Fit so it's not that complicated.

My central device is a Polar FT7 with a BT capable transmitter. I've considered switching to Garmin, but I've spent too much on Polar and only Polar can do swimming heart rate well.

I manually log the gym workouts in Runkeeper. For GPS activities, in addition to tracking on the watch, I connect the transmitter to my phone and get the GPS/heart rate data tracked with both Runkeeper and Endomondo (for redundancy). Runkeeper tends to be lower than Endomondo and my watch on the calorie burn, so I modify my workouts on there to reflect the watch for consistency.

Both Runkeeper and Endomondo are synced to Myfitnesspal and EarndIt. I'm also syncing Runkeeper with Withings where I enter my weight and body fat % daily based on my Tanita scale. Finally, I sync Runkeeper to a shoe tracker to get the mileage on my running shoes.

I have Google Fit activated, but I never pay attention to it. It just pops up whenever I have a mid-long run.

Jefit is my favorite gym app, particularly for the little gifs and descriptions of the exercises in case I decide to switch it up or need a refresher

I can't use any system for the physical activity I'm doing. I'm more interested in reading and watching stuff and just applying it in my own way. Then it's my own, and my own tweaking that makes it work for my lifestyle. The body is changing constantly, the level of health is changing in accordance with the amount of exercise you do and how well you eat, and how much you drink. These things have a significant effect, so I just find it difficult to use a stat-system to keep control of things for me.

I had Nike+ in my shoe and uploaded the datas on my Ipod! Thought it was interesting!
