The very idea that Nielson still uses 'TV diaries' in this day and age is laughable.

With that said you should go for it.
Arkansas. So they probably figure why bother with anything else lol.

P.S. watch Agents of SHIELD pls

Oh I do. Flash/Gotham/Shield will be on the diaries for sure.

Invent a time machine and go back and watch Community more.
lol

Series low, by quite a wide margin, for the Leftovers. I applaud America for tuning out of this garbage.

When you say series low, do you mean your thoughts on the episode or has viewership been released?

I thought that was a pretty solid episode. After reading that Reza article someone posted most the questions I had were answered and makes sense.

Series low rating. It got half the viewers of any season one episode. Link

0.3 demo, ~700k viewers. Last season was pulling 1.5 million viewers same day.

Is Minority Report that bad? I've been out of the country on vacation since premiere week and just caught up with some of the premiere ratings. I'm shocked it did so bad, as I assumed it would get viewers on name recognition alone.

first ep was awful, havent willed myself to watch the second yet (or the third obviously)

Batteries the CRISIS!
Minority Report is OK; nothing special and nothing awful. Half its problem is being on a network no one watches.

Looks like ABC Family is being renamed Freeform.

Terrible name aside, I'm shocked they can do that. I thought the network had a poison pill clause that if they removed the word Family or cancelled the 700 Club they lost all their carriage agreements.

I know that at one point they wanted to rename it the XYZ but decided they couldn't. Wonder what changed?

Wow, I can't imagine the amount of money they had to pony up to change the name and possibly cancel the 700 club.

From Deadline:

This will be the first time in 27 years that the cable channel won’t have “family” in its name. Launched in 1977 by Pat Robertson, it was named the CBN Family Channel in 1988 and kept the word as it went through various ownerships, named The Family Channel, Fox Family and then ABC Family. It was believed that there was a clause in the original sale by Robertson that would forbid any future owners from dropping the word “family” from the name though an ABCF rep said that there is no legal obstacle standing in the way of the network changing its moniker to Freeform. Another vestige from the early days of the channel, Robertson’s talk show The 700 Club, will continue to air on the rebranded network.

I'm pretty surprised, too. I almost don't believe it when they say that there is no legal obstacle because they would have done this years ago if they could.

So........got contacted by nielson and looks like I'm going to be a nielson household. I mostly watch stuff on Hulu/Netflix but figured might as well give it a shot. Other family members watch cable/directv though. Time to beef up them Flash numbers lol.

Didn't know you got paid to do the survey. Getting $30 to keep a tv diary seems simple enuff.

Got that for the radio when I was 10. Of course, being a shitty 10 year old I just pocketed the two bucks that came with the journal. Parents found out eventually and faked them. I probably ruined the only chance to impact TV ratings.

Me neither.

lol go ahead. I think they giving me 4 different diaries lol.

ha ha ha ha I'm kidding I actually can't do that.

Figured. I'll keep it on the low. :).

So they just do random calls to ppl to see if they want to do it?

The demographics questioning was funny. He only offered me black or white. I was thinking why can't I be a Mexican with the name Zackery. I know it doesn't sound like any other race, but would still like the option lol.

Just don't like Goodman that much, but he's basically the King by default now. lol

I think he works well enough with Jason Snell (and David Loehr). I don't seem to share his tastes in TV, but I still find the podcast entertaining and interesting enough to listen to it once a week.

Yeah. I'm hoping Feinberg joins him... although I wonder if they would have any chemistry together.

I don't even know who is around at Hitfix that Sepinwall could work with though.

The Mysteries of Laura is a better cop show than Minority Report.

But you might ask, but what about the sci-fi elements of Minority Report? Well, the answer to that is that most of that is just pointless CGI.

Literally every other "cop show" that launched this year is infinitely more enjoyable than MR. They at least are moving their longer plots much faster than expected. MR is glacially slow. Or if we should be fair, Limitless is more full on cop show but at least that's entertaining to watch.

The SyFy in Minority Report is god awful. Maybe it gets better, but it's like terrible shit I wrote in high school.

Like, I wanted to create a world where the gender norms shifted and I wrote a scene where the male characters talked about applying make up in the morning. But I forgive myself because I was 14 and I thought that was being edgy and transgressive.

Minority Report is less sophisticated than that. lol

I even commented about the upcoming all-live season 3 of Undateable a few months ago and I'm still surprised that season 3 is happening.

Go NBC.

I've watched all of Scorpion and can't tell if the positive replies here is sarcasm or not...

It's still better than Minority Report. Yech.

Gotham took a hit

Minority Report may want to see about it's own future

Seems a lot of stuff was softer this week
I should drop Minority Report since its safe to say it won't around much longer and probably not going to evolve into something worth watching.

I see Blindspot is doing decent, and I like Jamie Alexander, but I don't know if I'm interested in picking up a mostly procedural show and I may just compare it unfavorably to Person of Interest if it doesn't have good serialized stuff.

Blindspot isn't just doing decent, it's pretty much a hit by 2015 standards, especially for NBC and as long as the ratings don't nose dive it's going to get another season..

Is Minority Report that bad? I've been out of the country on vacation since premiere week and just caught up with some of the premiere ratings. I'm shocked it did so bad, as I assumed it would get viewers on name recognition alone.

It's dreadfully boring and absent of any sort of charisma, personality and the lead is annoying and no one has any chemistry on top of the aforementioned lack of charisma.

Well, they're not dropping The 700 Club so that deal must still be in place.

At least Limitless has a lead has some charm, I hope they don't continue to lean on the "we got Bradley Cooper to shoot this scene, let's show it multiple times again in the next episode to remind people" thing.

I wonder how much of that is by request from the network and how much of that is Bradley Cooper as an exec producer saying "let's use that footage of me again"...

Everyone should sub to TV Talk Machine and The Incomparable. Great podcasts.

Tim Goodman has bad taste in TV, that's not something I'm looking for.

I started and quickly quit after he told listeners that The Walking Dead is the show they should be watching come the fall and that Homeland deserved its Emmy nomination for Best Drama.

He's just not for me, and his co-host doesn't seem to watch anything outside of what Tim tells him he should be watching which makes for boring conversations.

I listened to a few of their podcasts while I was slogging through Mad Max and they were ok for background noise but once I was actually listening to what they were saying I gave up quickly.

I need something to replace Firewall & Iceberg and this certainly isn't it.

Stumpokapow

listen to the mad man
Are there any TV podcasts by people who don't watch superhero tv shows as a matter of principle? I'd maybe give one of those a try.

Maybe if this came out in like 2008. But it's been over a decade since the movie came out. I doubt many people in their early to mid 20s even know about the film.

The pilot was terrible. The murder plot they chose as the big mystery for that first episode was just dumb. Not even because of some weird futuristic spin. It was just bad.

Nobody in the cast really pops, and the two leads have zero chemistry with each other. Meagan Good is okay, but the guy they cast was a bit of a mistake.

I'm a huge fan of the movie, so I've been fairly disappointed with the show. I was hoping bare minimum this would be as fun as Sleepy Hollow was in its first season. On a positive note, the second and third episodes were a little better.

Goodman sucks and his support of Walking Dead is baffling, but I can't get too upset over Homeland getting nominated for the Best Drama Emmy since the show is still really solid. I wouldn't call it one of the best seven dramas on television, but in a year where they gave the award to the worst season of Game of Thrones it seems like a minor quibble at best. It's not like its slot would have gone to Rectify or something.

The movie wasn't a huge hit though, it shares no actors with the movie, and it is a science-fiction show on FOX. The majority of the audience for a science-fiction show doesn't watch when it is on FOX.
