I love the competition between the number 1, 2, and 3 corporations in the world Apple, Google, and Microsoft respectively. They all have their advantages and things I love about each. I just love technology.

It is fun, isn't it? I feel the same way. Right now, I'm using mostly Apple stuff. But that could change, and it's just fun to live vicariously through those who are using -- or get excited about -- different devices.

Wow, what a conference. Nailed it.

Panos is heading all devices so you'll see an Xbox One Slim from his team. It has to be cheap of course but should be nice.

Microsoft just need the apps for the masses.

The moment when Panos said "let's watch that same video again" was somewhat similar to the moment when Steve Jobs said "An iPod, a Phone, and an Internet Communicator.."

Incredible conference, if Microsoft can convince Google to bring their apps + banking then I'm in.

Shame they don't have high end products like this. They haven't innovated anything in a while.
Wait the Mac lineups aren't high end ? What in the world is your definition of high end ? Let's wait for the next gen MacBook Pro next early 2016. The MacBook lineup hasn't been updated in about 2 almost 3 years. Each one has their advantage, you don't have to hate on one or the other. I like Windows and OS X, they each have their own pros and cons. My MacBook can have the best of both worlds too. Windows 10 is just a monster, MS knocked it out of the park with it in my opinion, and can't wait to use it with my XB1. MS is doing all the right things and are on the right track, but they still have to surpass Google before they can even think of taking the top crown from Apple. Like I said this is why I love technology. But I think MS is on the right track, especially if Apple stays complacent.

$2,699.00 for the one with half a decent amount of storage and powerful enough specs. Quickly went from hype to lol gtfo

It makes sense for Microsoft to try to get the untapped high-end/business market. But Apple users don't want a tablet experience like this:

It doesn't look like a touch optimized experience.

Speak for yourself. I am MacBook, iPhone, iPad user. I'm talking first gen for every device. Just sick of iOS and managing and sharing files between applications. iOS is just too damn hard to use for productivity and anything work related.

The surface book is a MacBook Pro competitor. Apple users aren't idiots that don't need productivity, they just have stay away from ipads and go for the MacBooks.

Surface book is combining both, with extra focus on productivity side and doing so reasonably well. Windows 10 touch isn't as slick as an iPad, but as a productivity tool it's leaps and bounds better.

In fact Microsoft seems all in on productivity now. Especially with that mini desktop windows demo on their phones

So...how is being a web developer on Windows 10? So many things in the webdev world seemed geared toward Unix based operating systems, but dang that Surface book is nice.

It really would be useful to know the level of the Nvidia GPU to get a sense of whether the pricing is OK or not.

EDIT: The 2099 256/i7/8GB/dGPU seems like the potential sweet spot

16gb ram is high end.

Damn n $2700 for the top of the line one that seems to be 512gb only..

and a 13" laptop. it's truly a "GTFO" price. thanks but no thanks, MS. why did I fool myself into thinking it'd be around $1500 for the proper model.

At least at an Apple conference they would have provided every pricing tier right up front so we don't have this post-conference "suprise!" moment. Fuck man.

16gb ram is high end.

no it isn't. 16GB is mid tier. 32GB is high end.

It kinda sucks that the SP4 went up in price for the baseline. I know you get more storage, but still, the cheapest entry point is $100 more. What do you guys think? I just got a SP3 for $630. It doesn't seem to make sense to return it and get the SP4 at $899 right?

That Canadian price. I wanted one but this is too much... and not even with a GPU too.

I will stick with my MacBook Pro / Surface 3 combo for my needs for now but I can see myself having a Surface Book in the future.

Yeah they still haven't fixed my main complaint with the surface which is the OS. Shame, I really liked my SP3 when I had it but it just wasn't a very good tablet. The Surface Book seems cool, though I'm not sure I'd ever detach the screen

Seems the lowest barrier with an i-Core is $999.
My price range is $1500 max, so I will wait until the Book goes on sale. A GPU is needed if I want to run games decently.

30% better performance? why the fuck wouldn't you?
