that won't happen. Harper is running with the niqab ball. Bloc is just running behind trying to steal that ball.

I predict Bloc will win 2 or 3 seats. I would be surprised they pass the 4 seat mark.

Conservatives have their plants on AM Radio here and there.

Does Quebec still have those guys who win as independent MPs but who are functionally CPC members? Wasn't that guy a former talk show personality? lol

Ah, yes. Though I know some may see the CPC as a continuation of the CPC despite the way that it was a merger- though from what I have read, the CPC are more to the right than the old PCs. I would agree though that the Reform party was just as important in the merger, if not more so because as you said- huge numbers.

There are still senators who refer to themselves as PCs, so the party still formally exists as part of the government.

They are different parties though, Harper Cons don't see themselves as PCs and have distanced themselves from Sir John A. Macdonald's Conservative Party. Who they refer to as the Liberal party that placed the Chinese head-tax when trying to pander to Chinese votes on the CPC Mandarin webpage.

As far as I'm concerned, and as a one-time PCer, the current Conservative Party has virtually nothing to do with the old PC Party. It was essentially a Reform takeover of the old PC name and history.

Pretty much. Everyone seems to have the Liberals and Conservatives converging around 32-34% each, with the NDP falling back to the 23-25 range.

André Arthur is not running again,

his attendance record was one of the worst in the House and the news of him spending time in Florida while Parliament was in session turned him into a laughing stock and probably provoked his loss in 2011.

as for Ekos, their last poll showed CPC in the lead in Quebec. I laughed out loud, Ekos lost credibility on that one. CPC won't break 10 seats here

I seriously don't know what's wrong with the CPC this election? Are they trying to beat the Liberals for having their incumbents/candidates make as many controversial statements or do as many controversial things as possible before this election is over. The Liberals and NDP candidates have made a lot of controversial statements also but nothing near the conservatives.

I really don't get what the big deal about this is. I'd take Canada Post over any of the private couriers and I rely on them for package delivery but I'm willing to walk by a communal mail area and I understand that letter delivery is basically non-existent outside of the few bills that maybe I've forgotten to switch to e-billing.

Even if it was in the North, and even if Mulcair was there to highlight his party's First Nations plank, in what world does it make sense to hold a press conference where you have a big plane looming in an otherwise empty background? It seems so self-defeating to stick him in the middle of nowhere with nothing visually interesting to show for it. Yes, Trudeau held a press availability in the middle of an empty Olympic Stadium, but it was to highlight how many kids their plan will lift out of poverty just in Quebec. At least get some smiling people around you to convey enthusiasm or interest or something.

The NDP needs to fire their campaign manager in two weeks. I don't care if it's the same one they had with Layton because clearly his people skills were compensating for their weaknesses and Mulcair isn't capable of doing that.

She's also against Keystone XL. I think Obama is against it too and is using the environmental and economic study to stall. That doesn't even include his constant vetoing too.

I honestly don't see why people care so much about this. We've been off door-to-door since as long as I can remember. I thought it was just the norm for people to travel down the street to their mailbox until a year ago when everyone started pissing and moaning about it..

Hell, even now, the only time I even need to check the mailbox is if a package comes in; and more often then not if it doesn't fit in the box Canada Post will bring it to my door anyways. All my bills are online, my Pay Cheque is Direct Deposit, so the only thing in there is junk.

Again, imagine how this would turn to shit in big cities were a street can easily have over 500 residents.
Also, there was never any place allotted to those communal mailboxes and the lack of space in urban areas means that they are putting them wherever they please which does include people's yard.

On the economical front, Post Canada as been profitable even in the last few years before this and now they will lower the amount of employee they have, increasing unemployment rate.
This workforce reduction will be achieved largely through attrition, as 15,000 employees are expected to retire or leave the company over the next five years.

Honestly, right? Its like for the first time, I am seeing a whole new side of Canada. This whole pre-election season has been a very surreal experience for me, I cannot even begin to comprehend some for what I have seen and heard.

Canada has become completely unrecognizable from my understanding of the country as a child. Heck, the other day I was at a bookstore and I saw that new book on Stephen Harper. I casually picked it up, read the blurb, some pages, and one passage really struck out to me. I can't quite remember it exactly, but the gist of it was that Harper has pulled Canada so far to the right that it may never recover, or at the very least the effects of the Harper government will be felt for a long while, even if the NDP or Liberals get elected.

That really depressed the shit out of me. That entire day I got no work done, my mind was occupied at the realization of what this country was becoming.

Lots of people who live in big cities live in apartments and such, and already have communal mailboxes :p
And even if Canada Post has been profitable in recent years, the volume of mail is still decreasing constantly. See here
As mail volume decreases, so will revenue.

And really, even if the Liberals won, I really don't think they will reverse this regardless of what they might have said.

OK, then just split them into 25 boxes, have 20 per box, done. It's actually way better for people living in denser areas since you have to walk a lot less far. I only have to walk about 30 seconds, and I've just rearranged my walk home from the bus to make it on the way home each day.

I'd also really like one of those new boxes, they look way cooler and have more space for packages.

The way they're going about implementing this system is really stupid. I honestly support having the boxes everywhere (in non-rural areas) but they should have just taken the time to do it right and do a better job communicating with communities, rather than just ramming this in as quickly as possible.
