Transformers: Devastation |OT| Rising in Disguise

How is the air game in this? Are there dedicated launchers and moves for extending air time like Bayo's red hot kick?

Triangle+Circle or Y+B is a dedicated launcher. Some combos lead into a launcher as well. Nothing like an enemy step as far as I know. I also might be misunderstanding the application of red hot kick with how you're saying it, but I do know holding the heavy attack is a helmbreaker for Sideswipe at least while everything else is regular air combos. Not sure if any characters have anything divekickish or not.

I also got an accessory that allowed you to hold jump to slowfall if you held jump based off the description of it.

Forgot to mention, but vehicle transform attacks help extend air combos a lot. I have also yet to try it, but I assume Bumblebees special move of dodging over or under an enemy could help reset combos easily. Sideswipes dash is also easy money.

You can extend air time with vehicle attacks and ranged weapons. There's also a basic uppercut you can do on the ground or in the air.

Has anyone figured out if INT and SKL are actually identical as the manual indicates? Or is there some reason for both to exist?

Fucking Best Buy. Went looking for a copy while grocery shopping today, part of GCU, so obviously went to BB. Had none out on the floor. Fucking rows of Tony Hawk 5, but Transformers in sight. Had to hunt down an employee who said there were two in the back. So, wound up satisfied in the end. Annoying to see stacks of a piece of shit like Pro Skater on shelves, while this has two copies buried in the back. Sure that's great for sales.

Any way. Game seems cool so far. Pretty amazing soundtrack.
Had some issues with Bestbuy today myself. I went over to pick up my preorder, and apparently they only had a single copy. (which I assume is the one I preordered!) They had me wait for like half an hour while looking for it, until they just gave up and concluded it lost somewhere. They called another bestbuy to hold it for me, which means I lost my preorder deposit, so the dlc is lost. (if they even offered it int he first place? Rather unclear. :|) That and the stock situation at Best Buy for this game seems odd, at least in NY.

Another day without this cool game. Ah well!

This right here is why I hate bestbuy. I use to preorder games and they would just go grab it off the shelf when I got there and give it to the employee ringing me up. I could of did that myself

^^^ Honestly, I've had far worse experiences from Futureshop and BestBuy than I ever had from my local EB.

OT: I wonder what their quota would be to consider giving P* a sequel for this?

WTF? Even farting around in the Ark is addictive. Very fun game.

I'm playing on normal, and i do find myself tending to just hammer the attack buttons, vehicle attack when I get the blue flash, bust out some prime time, and then drive around and launch into a combo. Repeat ad nauseam. Still having a blast with the combat.

Should I be focusing on putting a lot of my credits into FRB? I played through mission 1 as Bumblebee and it was fun but it took for-fucking-ever to kill anyone, specifically those Constructicons that came in pairs. I can't figure out if I was missing something or just underleveled.

I've been playing red alert, and focusing on int/skl and mostly just using my big shotgun and blowing everyone away. I'm so tickled that this game can be played primarily as a shooter.

Just finished the game on Normal, the final boss is kind of disappointing and the length and diversity leaves much to be desired, which makes me think this game should've cost $40 not $50. Regardless, the combat system and feel is great and classic Platinum. I will surely be coming back to play the challenge missions and play on the harder difficulty.

Picked up my copy today, so much platinum goodness. I was having trouble with dodge until I realized I hadn't changed the mapping (Xbox one) to dodge with the triggers Bayonetta style. Once I made the switch I was golden

Just finished the game on Commander. God damn, this is one of my favorites this year

Final final boss encounter isn't great, but it makes sense for story reasons. The one before it is incredible though, and Megatron's theme in this is god tier boss music

Fact is this game is good for a PSN + free purchase of the month, not something you'd pay full price for. It should have been a digital release like MGS: Ground Zeros.... considering it will probably be another two years before a sequel to this is out...wasted opportunity..

What? Get outta here with that. It's a great game, and it's a bonus it's priced at $50. It's got a lot of replay value which I'm pretty sure is something a lot of people clamor for nowadays.

Wondering as someone who hasn't touched the game yet: does it leave potential for a sequel?

Pressing light attack with the interactive button cancels any non-attack that goes into vehicle back into the first light attack string. So a a character can do something like:

light attack, heavy attack, B+light attack any amount of times in combo. Attacks has to be cancel at certain frames and each melee weapon has different timing.

Games like this with inventory limits and lots of in-game drops should really include an option to filter through weapons and mass sell them.

Unless there is one included and I'm missing it >_>

Maybe I haven't gotten to this point yet, but what does the B button do? And is there no lockon?

B or O on PS4 is used to pick up objects like cars or activate terminals, that's it really. Grimlock does have some throw/bite techniques with that button though.

The couple of times the framerate drops were hilariously awesome, monster levels of shit happening

It's a perfect 60 pretty much always, but you gotta appreciate a game being pushed past its limits every once in a while for emphasis

What's the nature of the two unlockable difficulties? Platinum standbys like different enemy groups and more aggressive AI or just some stat tweaks?

Man, if this game had a AAA budget.....woooooooo!

AAA budget would've made this GOTY for me. I say that because there wouldn't be complaints about lack of level design and art.

Rented this from my local redbox and its a good ton of fun, so once I get some extra cash available I'll probably pick it up new. Hope that copies still exist by that time though.

I'm really loving Grimlock right now. His dino mode is just so versatile. You can get to top speed in a snap by mashing B, do a charge attack instantly by tapping B once then attacking, platform with better control than the other characters' vehicle modes, pick up cars without transforming, save ammo by using your fire breath, attack with your grapple special, and pop enemies into the air with the XYX -> transform combo, ending in dino mode if you do a follow up attack immediately or robot mode if you wait for a second. His only real drawbacks as far as I can tell are an initial lack of ranged attack power and the fact that he starts with just one tech slot.

Protip: Grimlock can do his aerial butt slam from dino mode by jumping into the air and tapping dodge once without holding a direction. Just another cool feature I thought to look for that Platinum had the foresight to put in.

Btw, it turns out some of those floating purple switch things I couldn't get to work before are activated with fire.

Omg, you can parry Devastator's drill missile and throw it back at him

Lol, wow. Typical Platinum with the badass counters.

Just got some rare knuckles that shoot out flaming projectiles.

This game...
Sounds awesome.

I can only answer for the difference between easy and normal but the first Megatron fight had some tweaks in that you fought him alone, he had different attacks and (I'm pretty sure) the fence around the arena did damage when you hit it.

I made it to chapter 5 before I realized I could level up the characters' stats.

Just beat the whole game. Took about 6.5 hours on normal. Died 37 times according to the records.

Were u playing on hard or normal?
There is a revive item thAt is dropped from cheats and enemies so if u did that item revives u during battle
Doesnt affect scoring outside of time taken to finish a battle.

This might be my favorite Platinum game.

I haven't played Bayo 1 to completion or 2 at all, but I'm enjoying the combat more than Rising and the campaign way more than 3 hours into PS3 Bayo.

Going from car flourish into slo-mo shotgun into car flourish is legendary and I'm constantly stunned by how easy to read and control everything is in the thick of it.

I don't agree with the complaints on the car at all. Those speedway sections are so fun and fast. 3D platforming is brief and solid. They provide great variety because they flow so well into what you're doing in the first place. I just need to figure out how to up my damage in combat (aside from the obvious) and hard commands on some of the car flourishes.

In the first Devastator fight is there a gimmick or does he just have a shitload of health. Feel like I'm just plinking away and might be missing a mechanic on Commander difficulty.

Nah you gotta upgrade your bot. I recommend redoing the prologue on normal then when you get to the first green station, redo the prologue on commander with upgrades.

Ah. I thought maybe the ground he keeps forcing up was meant to be driven or leapt off of something for bigger damage, was trying a handful of things there.

Shooting a shotgun midcombo is so fucking satisfying like oh my god

I have a shotgun that does so much damage that the need to even do combos or melee at all seems mostly unnecessary. It's like if I feel like slowing things down and making it more work I can start doing combos.

I just killed the chapter 4 boss (which was awesome, holy shit) using only my gun.

Auggghhhh! this game hasn't been dispatched yet :( the waiting is killing me. Platinum making a G1 Transformers game is just too hype.

First make sure you're using a weapon that doesn't suck. Aside from that, try to target his head because it does the most damage. If you have good range weapons, if you can keep your distance, shooting him in the head helps. When you've got him on his knees, jump up and combo his head when he's stunned. When he creates platforms if you're feeling good about it, you can use them to give you a boost to do combos on his head while he attacks the ground too, but that's risky because he can still get you with a swing if you're not careful.

IIRC I can't equip stuff yet, will dig around in the menus a bit.
