PS4 gets a new, lower price starting Friday: $349.99

Since it's just a 50$'s price cut, and it doesn't mean that the console goes under 300$ (thus, breaking a psycological barrier), while it will help in October and for Holiday deals (I'm sure we'll see bigger bundles at 349.99 or classic basic bundles at 299.99), I don't know if it will generate a huge increase compared to current sales, or a long-standing important increas of the baseline in 2016. I could definitely see a slight increase going into next year, though. Quite interested in next month's NPDs.

P.S. Also, good decision by Sony to announce it not that far from the day it's effective. Maybe the day before is a bit too imminent, a week before would've been more ideal (to let the news spread even more and, above all, make it so people were ready for the new price), but it's also true that news spread much quicker than in the past, and that, this way, they maximised sales before the cut. Good decision, all in all.

This is why they won't need the exclusives this year.

Great. Had a PS4 since day 1, and love it. Now this will force MS to do another price drop most likely to 299, then on Black Friday I may see that 250 dollar XB1 with Halo I was hoping for.

WTF Sony.

Well, crappy Loonie and the fact there's like a bunch of other fees and taxes thrown onto many imported goods into Canada.

Companies and retailers (the latter especially) only stomached the fees when the dollar was on par mainly to compete with cross border and Internet shopping.

Launch PS4 owners in Canada stay winning I guess! Lol

this isn't a bad thing, but $299.99 would be a lot better. at least, i've always been of the opinion that the first digit is more important than the others. i believe the psx, ps2, and ps3 all dropped by $100 to start too.

I didn't expect that at all, i was thinking they would wait until E3 of next year at the least

Kind of odd that the Destiny bundle isn't on that list. I bet it's so people who got the $50 GiftCard deals don't go Price adjusting tomorrow. :P

In case you couldn't tell that was sarcasm, any Canadian knows how sad the situation is.
I paid $399 CDN for my PS4 at launch two years ago. I'm sure the current system will get down again to that price point... some time. But not yet.
Although I suppose technically it's close if you want to account for the value of the game being bundled in.

WTF Sony.

Sony will blame it on the dollar which sucks but they are definitely taking advantage of Canadian consumers.

Has there ever been a console that had an official price increase above launch msrp before?

Uh no it's $20 more. The LEs are more expensive than the standard console bundles.

Okay. 80$ for 1tb and some orange stripes?

It's the only COD bundle and the non Vader PS4 SW bundle will by far be the best selling PS this holiday.
What I'm saying it it should have been 50$ cut across the board but for some reason COD, the only COD bundle they are producing, gets only 20$ and that sucks for the dudes buying that edition.

Wii got one in the UK (i think)

Definitely wouldn't be surprised if they gave the go-ahead to maybe go down to $299 for Black Friday only. Or if stores gave a $50 gift card on top of it.

Would definitely push a lot of sales on that day.

Canadian consumers should blame themselves for electing the same shitty government since 2006.
