PS4 gets a new, lower price starting Friday: $349.99

Awesome! I'm not in the market for a PS4 yet, but glad the prices are coming down. Holiday sales should be great for both systems.

Is the concept of exchange rates utterly foreign to Canadians or something?
No, because this post shows that the exchange rate of currency doesn't matter for some markets.

It's fairly more complicated than just exchange rates, but it's the sticker shock that's bugging some people.

It's also especially annoying cause Sony books profit in JPY. Good for them that they're getting more Yen for each unit sold in the US but I don't see that as a reason to screw us over.

Whatever man, Harper still sucks.

That he does. He just bent over all Canadians a couple days ago, spread collective cheeks wide for a good ol fashioned shagging by the TPP. "Get ready boys and girls, we're goin in dry!"

Gotta love fascist sell-outs who run pretty much all Western "Democracies" at this point. As per usual most in the US, Canada, Australia, etc... don't even know what the TPP is since - quelle surprise - the corporate owned media doesn't cover it for the most part and when they do its the company line about how great it's going to make everyone's lives by *cough, cough* offshoring millions more living wage jobs because increased trade, something, something....

I am SUPER disappointed!!!!!

6 pages and no Jeff Goldblum GIF!?!?!?!?!??

OK! FINE! JEEZ!

Here you go-

Very nice, this is just great to watch how this two companies are fighting for the customer money, Sony is not about to give away the Holidays like last year, I wonder if MS will stay at the same price.

Didnt Phil said he was expecting Sony to price cut the PS4 for the Holidays or was it Patcher?

Funny thing is that I was waiting until this weekend to buy a PS4 and Bloodborne in time for Halloween. That's for catering to my whims, sony!

Thanks for the kind words :)

The reason I originally had Q2 at 3.4m (then revised down to 3.2m) is because I thought that would be the most likely time we would see a price cut. The price cut has now taken place (pretty much worldwide) during the first week of October and so I believe the price cut combined with new 1200 models will increase Q2 shipments to cater for this price cut at the beginning of Q3 and so that there is adequate stock in channel for October.

Therefore I would say that we should see around 3 million if not more this quarter to account for the upcoming immediate spike in sales.

That's not to say that Q3 won't be high. But I do think we're more likely to see Q2 at or over 3m. So yeh, it's good.

If Q2 is lower than 3 million then I certainly expect Q3 to be higher than 7.5m

Ok thanks for the reply.
When is the Sony Quarter report anyway?

But he's proposing giving new mothers 18 months holiday, so he's the hero!! Fuck I will be depressed if he gets re-elected. I may have to defect.

OT: Figured this price drop would come soon- timing is pretty good for taking back some of Oct from the Halo train.

The Target $50 giftcard runs through Saturday.

So you get the price-drop and the gift card. Essentially $100. That's a great deal.

This will definitely be interesting.

A price cut versus halo. Who will win.

I think most people will probably just wait for statwars/cod bundle, so Ms will win October.

I still don't think Halo is as big as it used to be. No doubt it will move consoles, but not like it used to.

But it doesn't look like it will be a blow-out this year. No firesales from MS (most likely) and Sony being far more aggressive will ensure that.

As a PS4 owner, I will tell you that at least the new price actually better reflects what the damn thing is worth. Good job on Sony making the price more reasonable.

Thanks for letting me know I can sleep now..good to see games that don't launch in Oct/Nov don;t exist. Sony will be allright. Sont has exclusives, just didn't launch them in the holidays...if that is a thing then LOL.

I don't know why it matters so much if you release games the last 2 months of the year. If people would look past those months they would see it has already released plenty this year. This month has about, what, 4? (oh yeah those don't count, nevermind). I hope Sony never follows the MS formula of focusing only on those 2 months and continues to release games throughout the year. MS clearly has fooled everyone. It's stupid.

I'm going to just keep laughing maniacally. I got my PS4 over a year ago for $299 refurbished.

That, to me, is the sweet spot. Though PS4 won't drop that low for a long while officially. They're selling too well.

Granted, it didn't come with any nice bundles, and sometimes that makes all the difference.

Wow, great news fpr Sony. Now I may actually get a 329.99 1 TB PS4 with games on BF with a 299.99 or lower 1TB Xbox One console too. Looks like I'll be a multi-console owner sooner rather than later :D. Let the Price Cut Wars begin :p
