PS4 gets a new, lower price starting Friday: $349.99

Get more people aboard the PS4 just in time for the exclusive Uncharted Collection, to set us for the big release of Uncharted 4 next year, mega.

But then again XB1 is supposed to have some great exclusives coming in 2016. Its gonna be interesting to see if Sony can hold momentum beyond first quarter for long

Yes, it certainly will be hard for Sony to hold their momentu- haha, I'm sorry. I couldn't keep a straight face. The 2:1 bollocking PS4 has handed Xbone thus far this generation will become an all-out bloodletting next year. The price drop is just the canary in the coalmine.

That makes absolutly no sense. Your 50,000 CAD would convert to the following amounts in other currencies. Ok, so what.

Code:
Afghan Afghani: 2,471,750
   Iraqi Dinar: 45,577,000
  Mexican Peso: 634,000
   Swiss Franc: 37,000
Brazilian Real: 146,500

Simple fact is that from a Japanese company's point of view, 350 US dollars is worth 41,975.50 yen while 350 Canadian dollars is only worth 32,207 yen. To even things out the Canadian product has to cost more.

You're intentionally ignoring my point, so I'm not going to try again.

Halo 5 will under-perform and PS4 will emerge victorious come this October... you all will see.

How so? There's tons of hype for the game, and its clear people want it. Lets see how much this price cut does first, you never know what'll happen. People have long forgotten about E3, so I'm sure it'll have less of an effect than many think. This isn't going to cause mass shortages of PS4's, its just to pick up sales because its clear its down YOY.

Are the bundles listed in the press release their holiday bundles? I'm just wondering if I should hold out for another bundle or jump on the destiny bundle tomorrow.

What?!? I answered your point. You are bringing in other points of data that has no meaning when discussing the price of the PS4 in Canada which is why I posted a bunch of other meaningless conversion rates to show how nonsensical it is.

Think about what you are trying to say for a second. You are trying to say that the price of a Japanese product should take the exchange rate between the USD and CAD into account. If you want to do that then why ignore the exchange rate between the CAD and the Peso? Between the CAD and Iraqi Dinar? ...and so on. I hope you can see why such an analysis yields no useful results.

Your fundamental problem is that you've picked the CAD as the center of the universe for your analysis when Sony is a Japanese company. It's not how exchange fluctuations affect you, but how it affects Sony. On the other hand if you are going to complain about why other countries get a fixed rate while Canada is fixed, I've already pointed out that even with the variable price of the Canadian PS4, it is still lower than the US version. So if anyone should complain it should be the US customers.

Someone else also made the excellent point that if the Canadian price was made even lower it would hurt Sony's US revenue since it would start to become cheaper for US customers to import the PS4 from Canada which is right next door. That probably explains why Canada is treated differently than other countries.

Look at the CADJPY chart. Its practically the same from 2 years ago. So why do we pay more? Sony is japanese, so it doesn't affect their bottom line. They're just using the USD (which is quite strong against EVERY currency right now) as an excuse to raise prices. You can even check a 2 year chart here: https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=CADJPY=X#symbol=CADJPY=X;range=2y

Its clear we're getting screwed over. People here are acting as if the US is the center of the world...

Define under-perform please.

What do you expect October NPD for Halo to look like?

I don't know much about numbers, it's just that i believe that Halo isn't the same big assed franchise that it was before. And i think that Halo 5 will sell good, but not extraordinarily so.

Thats probably pretty fair tbh

I think reviews are a big deal for this game. After Halo 4 343 has to deliver

Going for that 7-10k difference, eh? xD

Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool. :D

Withouth joke, i still think XB1 will win, but if before i thought the difference would be 50-100k, now is definitive gonna to be close... :P

Gonna say 2-2.5 million.
Halo 3 sold 3,300,000 in 10 days, and Halo 4 sold the same in around 25 days.

Halo 5 has 4 days, so, seem reasonable for me.

Not a problem, PS4 doesn't do AF.

Now I'm torn as to whether I want to wait for a Black Friday deal or try and pick up the Uncharted bundle tomorrow at Target for the gift card. $349 + $50 gift card seems like it will more or less rival anything that Black Friday offers (but with less hassle).

Halo 3 sold 3,300,000 in 10 days, and Halo 4 sold the same in around 27 days.

I'd say 2.5 million is about right. People still don't know what Halo can do.

the comparisons of Halo 3 are... odd.. I mean yeah Halo 3 also came out 2 years after launch, however:

Halo 3 followed up the quality and insane goodwill of Halo 2
360 was already firmly established as the (non-Wii) leading console

both of these are completely opposite now

definitively possible.

The non-Wii haha.
360 was not the leading.

looking at who the systems were selling to, It'd be impossible to argue otherwise. The grandmas and soccer moms buying the bulk of the Wiis didn't really care about Halo/etc.

I also don't think anyone is questioning is H5 will sell in the 2M range. It's a question of how many systems is it going to push. Hence me pointing out the differences. In 2007 it was essentially "Of course I'm going to get a 360 because that's the system everyone is getting, and Halo 2 was friggin awesome"

In 2015, it's a bit different.

Damn was hoping for a 100 dollar drop when the drop came ... But oh we'll ps4 is still selling too well stop buying it ppl ...

So if I'm understanding your argument, US people should be angry because Canadians should be paying more for a PS4? Fine, whatever man.

What a weak price cut. Should be $299 for 500GB and $349 for 1TB. Sony will have to be more aggressive on bundles this holiday to go neck and neck or even beat Xbone.
