Are there any 1TB models that aren't bundled with anything?
How is it obvious when you said 2015 and 2016 in particular? You are all over the place. You said Bloodborne was their first big exclusive. Your post was full of mis-information.... Even out of the gate at launch you are wrong, they were very comparable. You said their higher profile titles didn't even launch until 2015...once again wrong.
Resogun was also first party.
If the competition drops to 299 which I think they will "temporarily" then ps4 will be in a tough position no matter how good the bundles are. Why give the competition any momentum especially when this will probably be their strongest year exclusive wise. Next year rather than dropping to 299 they can ride out this price with all their exclusives and make back any lost money. 349 for this year and next or 299 next year it will all work out for them in the end and even out their profitsPS4 at $350 is a good move to help compete with Halo 5's launch. However, I think Sony's losing out on money considering the PS4 is doing great.
This $50 drop is going to increase PS4 sales but I don't think it will be a lot since the PS4 is already doing so well. I feel that Sony should have saved the first price drop until they could get the system down to $299. $299 is when "casuals" really jump aboard/buy and that would have been even bigger news.
Either way, 360/PS3 gen will be dead after this Holiday. Xbox One and PS4 are at great prices and have many good games/bundles coming (some current gen only). I'll be getting a PS4 in 2016 (as long as Street Fighter 5, Uncharted 4, and Horizon live up to expectations).
You keep saying my post is full of misinformation, but the only thing you addressed was a single comment about Sony being slower off the mark in exclusives. The rest of the post, the meat of it, was my opinion on why Sony doesnt need to do too much of a price drop as well as talking about how Sony had to stretch resources between ps3, ps4, and vita while 360 exclusives dried up for the most part. I dont see how thats misinformation.
In terms of hype and interest, what on ps4 compares to Bloodborne? Because if this forum is any indication, people were basing their ps4 purchases on that game. So no, not the first 'high profile' as I incorrectly stated before but as the first 'big' bulletpoint exclusive? What to this point has generated more hype as far as available games go on ps4?

I like projecting my false realities on the world.Do people just purposefully ignore that PS4 has far more exclusives than xbox one, and that gap is growing all the time for a reason?

Don't judge me.

The PS4 may not be losing money at this new price. They already dropped cost with revisions. If anything, I figured any lost would be negligible. If the competition drops to 299 which I think they will "temporarily" then ps4 will be in a tough position no matter how good the bundles are. Exactly, before CoD, which is now THE FPS to own on consoles.
Coupled with Halo 4's controversial reception and the hilarity that was the MCC launch I think Halo's brand power is nowhere near what it was back in 2007...
I am sure it is profitable even at the new price. What I mean by losing money is less profitThe PS4 may not be losing money at this new price. They already dropped cost with revisions. If anything, I figured any lost would be negligible.
Oh, I see what you're saying. I misunderstood.I am sure it is profitable even at the new price. What I mean by losing money is less profit

Just to be clear, I was disputing this -
Unless, of course, you wanted to clarify that statement. What sort of numbers are you expecting? What would be "a lot"?
I'm not sure why you believe it won't help much when casual consumers are probably choosing Xbox One mainly because it was cheaper. When PS4 was the same price as Xbox One it was very one-sided.
If the prices are the same come November there is no chance Xbox One will dominate the US like it did last holiday season.
I feel Sony's deals with COD and Star Wars will play a bigger role this Holiday season for the PS4 than the $50 drop (though that's definitely not to say that this price drop won't help in any way).
My point is that the Xbox One was more than likely not going to do that either way -- Sony's deal with COD and Star Wars alone should keep that from happening (unless MS just goes absolutely insane with deals).
I'm not saying that this $50 PS4 price drop is useless or that it won't help. What I'm saying is that I feel it wasn't necessary this year since sales would have been great/amazing with what they already had.
They will be even better now what's the issue?
Ps4 has been 399 too long and is not doing that great in the US. It was time for a drop.
But more will buy it at 350. They could not go into another holiday at 399 especially not knowing what ms might do. You are underestimating the price drop.I'm not really complaining about a price drop -- especially since I'm planning on getting a PS4 next year. Just said that Sony could have had many people buying $400 PS4s instead of $350 PS4s this Holiday season.
It has been doing fine in the U.S. this year so far. The Holiday season was going to see a great increase in sales either way.

Huh? This is the longest any ps console has gone without a drop.... it is not doing that hot in the US for the market leader. It us normal to have a drop before 2 years. It hasn't even been out for 2 years hardly. I thought it was selling quite well in the US. This price seems really soon considering the PS3 is still like near $300 where I live and that console is ancient. I understand it was extremely expensive to produce at first, but this many years later, it should much cheaper. That is why I am wondering why is Sony being so generous all of a sudden. Not to mention it has a game bundled in also.
Sort of. Resogun is technically a second party game as Housemarque is not owned by Sony. However, in a recent interview on PS I Love You XOXO, Shuhei Yoshida said they internally consider all games Sony publishes to be first party, even though some are technically second party. This response was spurred by a question by Colin Moriarty where he points out the major published exclusive retail games this year for PS4 have mostly been second party (The Order: 1886 from Ready at Dawn, Bloodborne from From Software, Until Dawn from Supermassive Games, Helldivers from Arrowhead Game Studios, Tearaway: Unfolded from Tarsier Studios, and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection from Bluepoint Games). The only first party retail games I can think of this year were MLB 15: The Show from San Diego Studio and God of War III Remastered from Santa Monica Studio.
Hmm, I see what you are saying but I don't know. I think what would have been great sales at $400 and $450 are now going to turn into incredible sales at $350 and $400. I am expecting a really big boost for PS4 over last year.I'm not really complaining about a price drop -- especially since I'm planning on getting a PS4 next year. I just said that Sony could have had many people buying $400 PS4s instead of $350 PS4s this Holiday season since their marketing deals alone were going to greatly help sales.
For the market leader it could be doing better in the US.
This is gonna be pretty tempting, with Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Horizon etc.
But I really don't feel like I need another console cluttering up the area around my TV. Already have a Wii, Wii U and PS3. And I play most games on PC anyway.
Why do you have a wii and wii u hooked up?
What is the limit of "doing hot"? Different markets have different sales ratios. It's not like every market should have same ratio as in Germany for example. It's still doing great, even if the gap is smaller.it is not doing that hot in the US for the market leader. .
Do people just purposefully ignore that PS4 has far more exclusives than xbox one, and that gap is growing all the time for a reason?
It's not a football game. "Beat the other guys" isn't the primary objective. Making money and growing their market is.
Winning is maximizing profits, not simply a dick measuring contest of most units sold. Bear in mind that MS is the one playing catchup and having to drop kinect/bundle 3 games/cut price and various other incentives just to be competitive. 'Playstation', Star wars' and 'bundle' in the same sentence is going to be huge this holiday season regardless of what MS is doing
Their goal is to run an effective business, not appease fanboys.
Companies compete, obviously, but both Microsoft and Sony (and Nintendo) know that consumer electronics are a risky business and having a sustainable model is more important than being market leader. Sony could drop the PS4 to $99 tomorrow.... they'd be losing a massive amount of money on each unit and software sales aren't guranteed to make that up or even make profit. We're enthusiasts on here. Most people don't buy as many games as people on here do. Being profitable is more important than being the leader.Oh boy not these posts again. They need a bigger marketshare in order to sell more software than the competition. Do you honestly think the 360's goal was to appease the fanboys?
Saying this over and over again won't spontaneously make it right.
I hope they are making millions of that battlefront bundle because people are going to eat that shit up.
This game has mainstream success written all over it. It could probably break 10 million by end of year across all platforms. And ps4 will probably be the lead platform.
It was very smart for them to team up with ea on this one.
Will be a success but no single player campaign is a deal breaker for part of the public.
They drop the last of us bundle and the batman bundle and those were not listedNo drop on destiny ps4? Nuts
I don't think the public looks into these things like the people on this forum do.
They are going to see the presentation the huge star wars battles, the word of mouth, and that it's not on ps3/360.
What percentage of cod buyers never touch the campaign? It's pretty high.
I think for the majority of people jumping into next gen this holiday, battlefront is going to be their first game. Star wars is going to be absolutely massive this holiday.
No drop on destiny ps4? Nuts

At this moment in time,
PS4 has an exclusive library that is double the volume
