Transformers: Devastation |OT| Rising in Disguise

The UI is definitely an issue. I've been managing my loot by selling anything below A-rank that lacks a level 4 or 5 bonus. The exception being unique weapons or cool variants like Devastator's drills and the sticky gel gun.
.

Yeah I've been doing the same. Just selling anything below A ranks whilst keeping check of what skills they have (just in case). May major problem with the UI is that when switching weapons, it takes up the whole screen. I was hoping for a Bayonetta/DMC system. It still works but it's far from ideal.

Also, I think the camera is a bit too close and needs to be zoomed out slightly or just give us a lock-on.

Been addicted to this song on full blast. It's like Metal Gear Rising but the little touches make it feel like it fits with Transformers.....or Guilty Gear. Another nice little touch is that when you use the scope on the a gun, the sound changes to fit the Transformers style. It dampens down but adds that weird "autotune" thing.
This game is so good.

Edit: potentially found a way to get past the dodge limit.

Really enjoying this; far more than I thought I would initially. You can really tell that the Platinum guys are true G1 fans.

Hard to believe it took 30 years for us to get ONE good G1 game. I liked the High Moon Cybertron games well enough, but this is only "pure" G1 game I can think of that does the original series justice.

Man, I'm still waiting for someone to upload the Megatron boss track. The double bass combined with the pushback screen effect in the laser cage fight is some god tier hype

I've still yet to beat the game (spent the last 2 days looking for tech and combo practice) but I'll record that song tomorrow when I get to it.

agreed. Game looks amazing.

I am really enjoying this. Was getting my butt kicked until i realized i could upgrade my weapons and get new moves and skills. lol.

I'm a big-time G1 fan, loved the Cybertron series, and I love the Bayonetta series, MGR:R, Vanquish and Mad World, but I'm debating on buying this.

I'm deliberating whether or not I want this or Uncharted, is this worth it?

This game was amazing, I didn't mind one bit that the game is shorter than what we usually consider standard length. That feeling you get when you pull off witch time and counter is just so good.

So I finished Commander difficulty, and it's bee-

Yes.

Nevermind, turns out Sideswipe can clip through story element flags, backtracked through the stage a bit and just walked to trigger it and all is good now.

Just paused my Netflix viewing and downloaded this, game looks like the cartoons from my youth and I......am just so sick of the grotesque perversion that is the Michael Bay design and art style of my beloved transformers . This is all I ever asked for

Justice

I literally just got to the part where you can switch chars for the first time.

THIS FUCKING GAME. I have no nostalgia for Transformers at all, but this Platinum combat just feels so good. Boosting and wrecking some dude's shit, then chaining it into a vehicle attack on other fools? Top flight.

Cemented: Kamiya is now Platinum's second best game director.

All hail Saito.

This is great to hear because I don't have any nostalgia for the series, either (although I do have nostalgia for the '90s, something the Arkham games also tickle with their TAS connections). I'm here for Platinum first, especially Saito. I also like the idea that Transformers is a Western giant robot series now with a game by Japanese giant robot lovers. Also a sucker for cheesy dialogue and slick cel-shading.

can you accidently sell preorder weapons? i haven't noticed any special weapons in my game. btw, the costumes are sweet! gotta use them as soon as i start a new game.

oh yea, i have finished a secret mission and couldn't find the loot afterwards. i guess it either bugged out or i was too slow? whatever.

You can synthesize the preorder weapons as an ingredient so I imagine you can sell them too. But earlier today I got one of those weapons in a regular normal drop (in Magnus difficulty) so you can get them back apparently.

Decided to not bother with the physical version because GAME told me it is in fact coming out mid November and they did lie on their pre-order page.

Only bad part is how the dodge and transform button are the same and how it's finicky on transforming out/in when you want to be in the other form. Would have been better if it was on it's own button.

ah, that's good to know. gotta scroll through 150 items next and search for them.

Man this game is such a nice surprise. I really had my expectations set much lower. If this had even half the variety or hell even platforming of Bayonetta, this coulda been the best budget title ever. Pseudo racing in vehicle mode isn't quite enough.

Made a Google Docs and listed whatever weapon skills I had & their effects. It's definitely not complete and eventually I'd like to test the effects of the vague bonuses (ex, "Increases the length Focus lasts. (Lvl. 1/2/3/4/5)".

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ib_wMkL0VshLteBvkyqsBbYbihbp-UyRtGPJimarLMA/edit#gid=0

PM me if you wanna help and I'll add you to the edit list.

PS: Stacking two Lvl 3 effects on a weapon upgrades it to Lvl 4. I couldn't get this to happen with any other Lvl so its likely a bug

Just finished my first run on the game's equivalent of normal.

It was a pleasant surprise.

Defect works in increments of 20, with level 5 dropping the weapon's damage output by 100%.

Wait, does this mean what I think it do-

I've actually never been able to use this consistently. It feels like half the time, at least on commander difficulty, enemies are unaffected by the hook.

I got mine really early though, so maybe higher level hooks are better?

I wish Platinum would patch in a toggle for that screen in the options menu. Or come up with some other solution to keep it out of the way.

Such a great soundtrack. I'm really liking the context-sensitive ways that Platinum modulates sound. It's subtle, but those little details add up to a sense of polish that makes the whole game more enjoyable.

Hope it's useful. I'm sure you already know that tech can increase your dodge limit. I've only developed one piece with that attribute though.

Grapple hooks don't work very well in my experience, sadly. Maybe there's a way to increase their effectiveness.

So, I tried Commander difficulty and struggled with it. I did grind through to the end of Chapter one. I dropped the difficulty for the next two chapters, but I've been steamrolling the game with an over 1000 atk Energon Hammer I got while playing Chapter One on that higher difficulty. Should I take it back up to Commander?

I'll admit I'm not feeling the combat as much as Bayonetta or W101, but then I wouldn't expect it to. I'd say the game so far (post-Shockwave fight) is better than Korra, but not as good as Rising, and certainly not as good as Kamiya's Nintendo/Sega-funded titles.

Still fucking awesome, though. I'm playing a Japanese game based on a huge licensed franchise in 2015, and that's a big deal.

I just picked this up today. I'm a super casual fan of the genre but always have fun when I do em and platinum puts out good stuff.

Only got to play up to the first time it let's you stop and upgrade but damn this is awesome.

Excited to get farther in to it.

Can someone please explain how to use synthesis as in depth as possible?
As far as I understand:
1. Choose a base weapon.
2. Choose a weapon to feed to the base weapon.
3. If there are any skills attached to the weapon you're feeding to the base weapon, you'll get a window asking which skills you want to transfer (each weapon has a limited number of slots).

Maximum weapon level is 10.
Stronger weapons will give more xp to the base weapon than weaker ones.

Bayonetta had something similar. If you double tap dodge, you turned into a panther. Not sure if it was intentional, but I always thought it was Kamiya forcing you to get the timing of the dodge right to get to Witch time, and I got the same thought with this. 'Better get your timing right or you'll just change into a car'

Again, not sure if this has been intentional, or just the function was there for convenience but if it was intentional to force you to get the timing of dodges right, I think it's genius.
