PCs are better than consoles argument tree

For me PC lacks in a genre I really enjoy: sports games. Therefore I could never really make PC my only gaming platform. I would say this genre is much more worth a mention as lacking on PC than JRPGs at this point.

The PC games I play (Civilization) were built for PC and that's where they play best, and those are the games I'm interested in playing on PC. My console plays games that are designed for console. I guess that's just how it works for me.

One argument I didn't see mentioned in the tree was the ability for backwards compatibility for all purchases on PC.
Ya same here only games i really have on PC is racing simulators and at moment dont have the room to setup my triple screen etc setup

There are a ton of console/handheld exclusive games that one would be missing out on if they went PC only, just like there are a ton of PC exclusive titles that one misses out on of they go console/handheld only. I just got a gaming PC but I'm not about to sell my consoles when I have so much shit on them that I can't get on PC.

I think buying a gaming PC should be something that all gamers strive to do but that doesn't mean they should forsake everything else, that's ridiculous.

Whenever anyone tries to bring up how console gaming is inferior, I feel like Don Draper:

don+draper.png

I really just don't care or think about it. I like gaming, but it's not so core to my personality that I feel the need to evangelize or defend my preferences. The whole thing is downright silly to me.

I used to be a console gamer but times have changed. Japan has shifted largely to mobile so other than Nintendo first party, PC is largely superior. Doesn't mean I won't be picking up a ps4 for some sweet exclusives and to play with my peasant friends.

I just don't have the time to play all the games I want on one system let alone 3 or 4, and I feel like I game way too much as it is. Always curious how people with everything do it.

The people who worked on that chart give far too much of a shit. None of it matters.
What if the argument tree is meant in good fun and is not to be taken seriously but some people took it way too seriously because they were insecure, not the people who made the argument tree? Also if the majority of people "really don't care" then why is there so much vitriol and slander brought up anytime the topic is mentioned?
1) That's still a lot of effort to put into an argument that is always going to boil down to preference. You're essentially putting a shitload of effort into an argument that you can't win because there is no correct answer.

2) Because it comes up all of the time if you go on game forums, to the point where it's tiresome to see over and over. Especially because as people have mentioned, there is no right or wrong answer. And it's a catalyst for a lot of annoying, condescending attitudes.

This shit still? Damn man... Of all my good friends I'm the only one that games on PC, they are just not PC people, I can't even give my best friend a gaming PC, he's just not interested. They like to plug in and relax and don't like PC jargon and crap like I do, so it's NOT better for them. Why can't people see this? It's all so asinine and perpetuates derogatory terms like "peasant". I wish my fellow PC gamers would just let this shit go, it's really lame.

I've had a Steam account since 2007 and haven't used it since 2010 or so. I didn't like playing on a PC and went back to consoles and nothing has ever convinced me to go back. If you need a flowchart for why it's the better platform, all it seems like is that you're desperate for a circlejerk.

Like Japanese games? Lol well I hope you own a smartphone and live in Japan then.

Yeah because JRPG's don't exist.

I have mostly moved onto PC Gaming but I continue to buy consoles for the exclusives, almost solely Japanese ones. I own a Vita, 3DS, and WiiU already and I'm aiming to buy a PS4. As long as Japanese devs remain console-bound I'll keep buying them.

I game mostly on PC (here's my Steam profile before you pull some No True Scotsman bullshit), but I do not consider myself a PC gamer. They are easily the most cancerous and insufferably pieces of shit in the gaming community. They have no respect for gaming as a medium, and view it solely as a method of making pretty screenshots instead of actually making good fucking games.

You can tell they're a bunch of kids who live with their parents because they are so ignorant it's hilarious and sad. Gotta justify making mommy drop a grand to please your sorry ass I guess.

PS4 and XB1 are more PC-like than any console before them. In my eyes, they're just lower tier PCs that split off from the family to do their own thing. And that's okay.

Man this is all so silly when you think about it, who gives a flying fuck what the next man likes. It's creepy how some get so defensive when someone doesn't like their favorite platform. And those weirdos exist on all sides.

I built a gaming PC over six months ago and have done very little gaming on it. I played more on my PS4 in the six months that I had it. I'm not entirely sure what prevents me from wanting to boot up a game on my PC, but I didn't really have this issue with consoles. Of course I had dry spells every now and then where I wouldn't play games for several months at a time, but this is a new phenomenon that I'm experiencing. I want to play some PC games but I have no desire to do it on PC.

I can hypothesize that one issue is not feeling as connected with users in a game on a PC as I do on a console. It's funny because I always took friend notifications and things like that for granted and never really cared for it when I had a PS3 and PS4, but now I feel ever so isolated on PC and it isn't fun. I thought maxing out Alien Isolation would have felt better than it does. Ugh

I understand what you're saying. I felt the same before my friends migrated. It was a lonely experience lol.

I think you might be confusing PC gamers with people that are on a certain subreddit.

If you notice in this thread it's the people who only play on consoles who are cursing, being incredibly rude, and talking about how horrible PC gamers are.

I mean wow

Edit: Although in this case the person who made that comment does have a steam profile, but there are similar comments elsewhere. PC gamers are just gamers, and most of us own consoles. Don't be so angry, it's silly and reflects poorly on you.

Yes, because self-proclaimed "PC gamers" have been utter saints in comparison in this thread.

And the other side is failing at grand standing.

Race to the bottom, who shall win?
Believe me, I don't care about winning your approval <3
Yes, because self-proclaimed "PC gamers" have been utter saints in comparison in this thread.
Having read through almost the entire thread: yes. Although there haven't really been many PC only gamers in this thread because that's pretty rare. Either way, certainly haven't read as many insults. So many masterace comments, where does that hate come from?

You seem angry.

At least from the gamer perspective, for me, the main issue is control input. I'm a controller guy. A keyboard and mouse is not even objectively better even for an FPS, because while it is more functional, it is not more comfortable. I'm a comfortable gamer.

Main example:

CS:GO. I love it, but hate playing it. I wish I could play it competitively with a controller, but can't. These kinds of games should be optimized so that controller players and keyboard/mouse players can effectively compete with each other. The mouse will always likely have a small advantage no matter what effort is put into closing the gap, but that's OK. An auto aim component to offset the inherent precision of a mouse needs to be included in games that offer both. Yet, this is always absent from most controller enabled shooters on PC for some strange reason. Nobody wants to put an effort in to balancing the different input methods.

Another great example is keyboard for platformers. It's generally not as good. There needs to be more effort put into closing the gap. A small gap is OK, but the current gap is unacceptable and is a development failure, not an end-user one. Maybe the Steam controller will help?

The whole debate is very, "meh" to me. Each platform offers me something different than the other. On the XB1 I can play games like Gears of War, and on the PC I can play games like Pillars of Eternity. I just play games.

I like console gaming, handheld gaming, pc gaming. I like gaming, I'm a gamer. Who gives a shit where or what I'm playing it on.

So many personal attacks and insults in here is kinda sad.

Yes people who game on pc live with there parents all of them.

I tried to get into PC gaming a couple years ago, but I couldn't get into using a keyboard for controls and most games lack decent controller options or are a pain to implement. PC is definitely for the hardcore, IMO. I love consoles for their simplicity.

I think you might be confusing PC gamers with people that are on a certain subreddit.

Yeah that is indeed what happens when you let a subset of your community fester and yell the loudest. People take them for the whole community.

Ain't my fauly y'all can't police yourselves.

If you notice in this thread it's the people who only play on consoles who are cursing, being incredibly rude, and talking about how horrible PC gamers are.

You started it, son. If you punch someone in the face (especially over something as utterly worthless as "what beep-boop machine you play vidya games on"), don't get surprised when they get mad.

"Man, Bloodborne's pretty cool--"
"LMAO CONSOLE PEASANTS #120FPSDAGAWD PC MASTER RACE GET #REKT"
"Wow what the fuck are you doing, asshole?"
"why you getting mad bruh I just rudely injected myself into the conversation and started shitposting but it's okay because I have the psychotic fervor of a religious zealot "

I'm certain you're going to take this post as proof of me being mad so you can circlejerk about your preference in video game machines more.

I'll be over here actually playing video games. Actually, I interrupted a session of Dolphin-emulated F-Zero GX just to post in this thread! Should've kept doing that.

Uh huh...would it surprise you if I told you that you're very wrong?

By that argument, most people would consider you a 12 year old who does nothing but yell and curse and tea bag people in FPS games.

It's a terrible argument to have, for what it's worth.

You do know you can apply your shitty logic to console players that spend all their time on console wars arguing which one is the best and how the one they choose the "superior" one and all that, shit, right?

Congrats on making up a imaginary conversation that literally no one in this thread ever uttered as well.

If you can't tell how mind-numbingly stupid your post was I don't know what to tell ya.

Yeah they're dumb as hell too. I never said they were perfect angels either, stop putting words in my mouth. That's also a tu quoque fallacy, by the way.

Please tell me who said this

But Sony Microsoft and Nintendo fanboys... all act civil..

The thing I don't get are the one platform only people, you lock yourself out of so many games.Every gaming enthusiast should own a PC, and at least one console.I can understand it for monetary reasons, but some people have money and still stick to one platform.

You comfort is not an objective unless you want to talk about what kind of keyboard and mouse you use vs a gamepad. If you have a shitty keyboard or mouse don't expect it to pleasant, bad keyboards or posture will encourage carpel tunnel to say the least. Also don't act like triggers don't cause problems or that buttons don't make your thumbs/fingertips sore when it's quite common knowledge.

With all that being said Valve is not going to gimp someone who pays for a decent mouse with raw input so your that crap ass analog can feel competitive to something superior in how it operates. This is like someone driving with out wheel wanting parity with someone who does. Why should a developer do the mental gymanstics and technical of balancing out this aspect of hardware when the from the get go one method is inferior for pointing and aquiring targets compared to the other tech. You use a pad accept what it does to your abilities in game like you accept how using some pc hardware makes you unconmofrtable. You can't balance it and developers have tried big and small only to find out whoops reality and technology do matter not silly notions of balance.

The same reason a keyboard isn't all that good on platformer besides not being the best at registering multiple inputs is because they layout sucks and the tech on buttons is nothing like a real mechanical keyboard, arcade sticks or a gamepad. Has nothing to do with devs but the tech that governs our inputs.

99% of games have controller support, for 360/xbox one/ps4/etc. The only big exception in recent years is the Mass Effect series and someone finally modded that in.

There are two kinds of people in platform war threads.

The people getting mad and the ones laughing at the people getting mad.

Now ask yourselves which are one are you and which one do you think it is better to be?

so we're talking about this thread right now and you bring up a reddit community. Okay, okay. No need to argue with you

I'm talking about the PC community as a whole. We always were. I can literally see the holes from where goalpost was before you blasted it out of the ground.

The Steam forums are filled with it too, if that hits a little closer to home. Half the time if you ask about setting a gamepad up you get nothing but "LMFAO PEASANT PADS GET REKT NOOB #KEEBOORD4LYF #GAMEPADSALWAYSSUCK #KBMKREYGASM

Also y'all are getting salty as hell about my opinion.

Most people thinking that putting in cables and computer parts in marked places is very very hard. Like defusing bomb worthy material
