I wear shorts and thongs (flip flops)

It gets fucking hot in Australia, fuck wearing long pants and jeans all the time.

I can't believe this is still on going.

There is nothing wrong with a fedora.

I am sorry if you think they look uncool, or unfashonable. But there is more to dressing then what you read in an article of GQ or esquire.

People have said that people who wear fedora's would look better with out them, that is true of all hats unless you are some fucking mong, 90% of the time hats serve no purpose, just like ties, but people still wear them.

Some people believe in having their own style, just because the vast majority of people who seem to wear fedoras in America have no idea what they are doing does not make them a poor accessory.

Some of the most stylish men on the planet wear fedoras, and are mainstay of pitti uomo. And if you think they look like knobs then you most likely think an Armani suit is the height of men's fashion.

But Cargo pants do not look good on anyone period.

Hats serve a purpose for keeping the sun off you and preventing sun burn/heat stroke.

Fedoras look pretty tacky in the first place, and it's worse because most people that wear them don't do so with a proper formal suit + tie set-up, and on top of that they wear them inside. Or even worse, they do all of that when it is not appropriate for the occasion (e.g. the dorks who wear suits to a regular day of university for no reason).

I mean if you took the small group of bankers/lawyers/consultants/executives that wear suits to work on a daily basis, took the ones that are over 40, and had them wear a proper fitting fedora with their suit while outside, it honestly might not look completely ridiculous.

The meme status of fedoras at this point has made them even worse to wear. I mean fashion is generally driven by taste rather than practicality, and if something has been made to be really uncool by a particular group then it will be considered unfashionable. That's generally how it works.

lol at that poll. If you don't wear shorts in the summer in Germany people will look weird at you.

And since when are polo shirts socially questionable?

Wow, you must really love wearing fedoras.

fashion is for boys, style is for men. like i said 90% of the time hats serve no purpose other than for fashion reasons

Wow, you must really love wearing fedoras.

Only worn one once, and i didn't look good in it, i hate hats of all kinds.

I am more interested in seeing what people like Luca Rubinacci are doing with style than the GAf opinion

dafuq, the Ralph Lauren polos in my wardrobe are $100 a piece, how can they be unfashionable?

Better burn them and buy some meme shirts instead.

U wot m8.

Next you're going to tell me that you're immune to advertising unlike everyone else.

Fashion is for boys and style is for men but James Bond is not going to be wearing the same suits in Spectre as he would've if the movie was made in the 70s. Nobody can escape the fact that fashion constantly changes and as a result what is considered stylish also changes.

I honestly can't tell if you're serious or not.

I wear cargo shorts. AND I DONT EVEN PUT SHIT IN THE POCKETS.

style and fashion are not mutually exclusive.

fashion is about trends, fashion is being worried about what is in and out. style is about creating your own look and knowing what works yourself. it is about finding things out for yourself.

fashion will always change, but those who are considered stylish always stay the same.

i am not immune to advertising, i just look at the right places.

Can you show me examples of stylish people that completely ignored the fashion meta over the last 20-30 years? No. Fashion doesn't mean wearing capes in 2015, but just look at subtle things like pant break and lapel width on suits which have changed over the last decade.

just google Lapo Elkann

just google Lapo Elkann

Dude literally just wears fashionable stuff but with a decent budget and a bit of flair. He's stylish sure but he's no more immune to fashion than anyone else. It's a ridiculous misunderstanding of what fashion even is if you think you can be stylish while ignoring it. Our perception of what is stylish is completely due to what is in fashion.

i doubt most people would ever consider 90% of Lapo's wardrobe "in fashion". he rarely follows current trends and tends to break most of the accepted norms.

and that other 10%, well it is just fashion copying his style, hence why Gucci got him to design a collection.

Shanks in a thread like this, no surprises.

You stand correct btw.

That in part, but more the fact that it looks like they have an entire warehouse on their legs. Kind of similar to whenever guys make fun of girls with huge suit cases.

Only reason I go to the airport.

in my neck of the woods shorts and polo shirts almost rate as formal wear.

very few guys wear long pants except at work in an office or going out at night and even then its not uncommon to see people clubbing in shorts.

it's 11:30pm here and still 29C (84F) with 70%+ humidity.

guess why people wear shorts, flip flops and polos

Less than 60% of people on this board wear shorts? Have the other 40+% never experienced summer or been close to water at some point in their life?
