Terrible. She was a first class opportunist. Got elected while trying to win as Mayor of Montreal. Promised she would stay for the 4 years and would try again. Gave up on the party she created only to try her luck on the federal scene to boost her opportunity.
I'm happy with that. They're back to where they were before but it could have been much worse. The way I see it, this election has been a disaster for the NDP and this is basically their worst case scenario. If the worst case scenario for NDP is 35 seats, that's good with me. It's not like having 60 seats would help when the Liberals have a majority.

NPD was reelected in my riding, but the Liberals might win in Val-d'Or.
Good, I voted May for obvious reasons but the Greens attacking Rankin was terrible and stupid.

Trust me, I know how you feel. I was absolutely devastated the last election, especially when Harper got the majority. I felt utterly sick.
And then once again I was crushed when Jack Layton passed away. I miss him. He really made me interested in Canadian politics.
Being said, we heal, and we move on, and form new political ideals. Also party leaders make a huge difference.
Honestly, I voted NDP (lost in my riding, shockingly), but I wanted the Liberals to win this past week after seeing how the polls went. Lib. Majority is also fine by me.

It makes it all the better that Harper ran a campaign based on racism and fear, and Canadians responded with a Liberal majority.
Canadians came together at the expense of the NDP. Also, don't forget that Canadians came together in 2011 to give Harper a majority... be careful what you wish for.

In the last election the NDP had the oldest and whitest voters. Given that Canada is still largely populated by the descendants of European immigrants, and has an aging population, you actually need to cultivate that demographic to be successful.
She probably will, and she'll probably do extremely well.
Yeah I'm not sure how to feel about a Liberal Majority right now. My dream scenario would be Liberal/NDP minority with the other as the official opposition, but that will seemingly never happen unless another right wing party pops up.
I just enjoy seeing such a nasty campaign fail so miserably. Well and Harper disappearing forever.

I think for at least the next few years, the only way I can move on is if I just give up on following politics altogether. I'd move out of Canada if there was some way I could live in a socialist utopia like one of the Nordic countries.
I think to say this is a heartbreaker is an understatement for me.
