I wanted to vote Liberal but ended up voting NDP because strategic voting were predicting they had the best chance against the Conservatives in my riding, but they're falling to 3rd. Combined, their votes might've beaten Conservatives here.

looking on the bright side of life: Rankin leads Roberts after the first poll

on the "fuck everything" side: Marston down by 1,000 votes in Hamilton East

I must do better.
Yeah Harpers gone! At least the inevitable Liberal disappointment will be an improvement over the past few years.

I wish the cons would split up again.
Yep. But they have the recent memories of ten years of governance and they'll look to the NDP-Liberal see saw in the past few elections and avoid that split if they're smart... Unless we get electoral reform.

Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.
yes yes conservatives would've benefited from running on "record" instead. because Harper's record is amazing :lol

I just want the NDP to die. Every NDP MP should just resign and give those seats over to the Liberals or Conservatives.

Seeing them during Question Period is just going to be salt in the wound. :(
Oh would you shut up.
You abondoning them will only lead to more Liberal/Conservative governments. I'm disappointed in the collapse too, but im hoping they learn from this and change their approach, especially if we get election reform

Mélanie Joly wins in Ahuntsic!

Terrible. She was a first class opportunist. Got elected while trying to win as Mayor of Montreal. Promised she would stay for the 4 years and would try again. Gave up on the party she created only to try her luck on the federal scene to boost her opportunity.

I think the ndp will end up with 35-38 seats at this point/

I'm happy with that. They're back to where they were before but it could have been much worse. The way I see it, this election has been a disaster for the NDP and this is basically their worst case scenario. If the worst case scenario for NDP is 35 seats, that's good with me. It's not like having 60 seats would help when the Liberals have a majority.

I'm happy to see Harper out but I'm not happy with it being a Liberal majority or with how few seats the NDP got. Oh well, overall it's still been an amazing night for me.

The manicouagan riding looks so odd cause it's so big and seeing it the light blue colour makes it look more important than it is.

That's the spirit! We picked the least worst option! lol

This is why I'm fine if the NDP ceased to exist. 30 seats, 60 seats, 0 seats. It's all the same thing.

Dude I think we beat Harper tonight. We can all stop strategic voting next time.

Voted NDP, but the lib majority is perfectly acceptable. Can't wait to see how much gets done now. Gonna be great.

It's different... I think as a Green supporter, you didn't really believe that Elizabeth May could be the next PM. As an NDP supporter, I really had hope and dreams for an NDP-led Canada.

Trust me, I know how you feel. I was absolutely devastated the last election, especially when Harper got the majority. I felt utterly sick.

And then once again I was crushed when Jack Layton passed away. I miss him. He really made me interested in Canadian politics.

Being said, we heal, and we move on, and form new political ideals. Also party leaders make a huge difference.

Honestly, I voted NDP (lost in my riding, shockingly), but I wanted the Liberals to win this past week after seeing how the polls went. Lib. Majority is also fine by me.

I'm proud of my country tonight. Glad to see us work together to vote Harper out of office! Hope Trudeau does a good job.

I love when Canada comes together like this :)

It makes it all the better that Harper ran a campaign based on racism and fear, and Canadians responded with a Liberal majority.

Canadians came together at the expense of the NDP. Also, don't forget that Canadians came together in 2011 to give Harper a majority... be careful what you wish for.

Joly was always a Liberal and was heavily involved in Trudeau's leadership campaign in 2013

every Liberal knew that she was going to be a Liberal candidate.

Maria Mourani.... now she is opportunistic, from being Seperatist one day then being Federalist the other

Mourani will probably run for QS provincially

Yup, fuck her.

NPD was reelected in my riding, but the Liberals might win in Val-d'Or.
Oh I see, I was looking at the wrong riding. Well, Liberals were still second, ahead of the Bloc. Surprising no?

Yup. I didn't want a Liberal majority but I feel good about that. It decreases the chances of that racist strategy being used in the future.

Yeah I'm not sure how to feel about a Liberal Majority right now. My dream scenario would be Liberal/NDP minority with the other as the official opposition, but that will seemingly never happen unless another right wing party pops up.

I just enjoy seeing such a nasty campaign fail so miserably. Well and Harper disappearing forever.

I, for one, welcome our new Trudeau overlord.

Not quite what I wanted, but at least Harper's out, so I'll take that victory.

I think for at least the next few years, the only way I can move on is if I just give up on following politics altogether. I'd move out of Canada if there was some way I could live in a socialist utopia like one of the Nordic countries.

I think to say this is a heartbreaker is an understatement for me.
